Appearance Description : Aurélie stands at six feet tall with a dancer’s build and long, elegant fingers. Her wavy hair is golden blonde and shoulder length, scented with delicate florals whose aroma is hard to precisely pinpoint. In the lightest of breezes, the perfume seems to change itself. Her almond shaped eyes are a bright, cornflower blue. Sometimes they can even appear feline in the right lighting. All of Aurélie’s facial features are delicately sculpted, from her nose to her light pink lips. Fair-skinned and with a heart-shaped face, she has an angelic and open appearance that exudes innocence and trustworthiness.

Aurélie’s wardrobe is a very simple and proper affair. She prepares undecorated sundresses with high collars – in the purest white she can find – and accessorizes with black sashes and lace gloves. Perhaps a hat tied with silken ribbon.

Personality Description : On the surface, Aurélie is the very picture of what a noble young lady should be. Regal and elegant, she is bright in both appearance and wit, amicable if not just a tad condescending. By nature, she is crafty and used to having her way. What Aurélie wants, Aurélie gets, one way or another. There are few things that can be named as passions in her life but even passing fancies invite her invested interest if circumstances challenge her sufficiently. Some might call her improperly stubborn because she has never learned how write off a loss as a loss. In her mind, everything must have some kind of purpose. That the world does not always work that way, she is aware. She merely believes that she can change it, that somebody must.

Ruthless yet self-aware, Aurélie knows the importance of social performance. She goes through the steps of nicety with grace, honoring her word when held responsible and giving it when needed. Honor is something that she views cynically but accepts as a necessity for somebody of her lineage, a responsibility that her ancestors so graciously took upon themselves for the sake of common folk who could not help themselves. She thusly models herself as she feels that a true aristocrat should be like – stern but fair, carefully active, leading the unwashed masses from above. Unfailingly strong. And correct.

There is little to no room for other races in Aurélie’s vision of the future. Humankind is the pinnacle of creation in her view, with all sentient non-humans as creatures far below. Man is, as far as she is concerned, the rightful inheritors of the universe. Those with animalistic qualities are dismissed by her as being base while species with far more similarities to humans are accepted as servitor races. Mythological creatures, however, have some quarter from her. Those, she sees as prized pets. The truly special ones are the magical races, the ones more spirit than creature. They exist as not quite equals to humans in Aurélie’s hierarchy of the world, something both parallel yet incomparable. She may not think too highly of them but she knows to respect them all the same.

Aurélie is an avid collector of people with unusual or interesting abilities and often seeks them out in order to bring them under her spell. She can be a good friend to those she favors, offering attention and solution to grievances and problems. Vigilantly, she monitors their mental and physical health for anything that might require treatment. In this way, she binds her followers more closely to herself through their gratitude. If somebody is easily controlled enough by their problems, however, she would be more inclined to keep them that way regardless of health.

Though she is prideful, Aurélie is often unwilling to take large risks without good cause. Generally speaking, she is quick to annoy but slow to be truly angered. Her rage is cold and rational, filled with the confidence that she is justified. She was petty once, when she still had her sister to her back. With Adrian gone, Aurélie has become more suspicious and more willing to play the long game from the shadows.

Active Abilities : Cendrillon - Aurélie is able to temporarily warp reality to fit the confines of any European fairy tale. She is not restricted to any single fairy tale once the spell has started. The spell has no range but it is affected by how much she thinks it through. Her magic will automatically cancel at midnight.

Passive Abilities : L'Aurore - Whenever Aurélie takes any significant type of physical damage, she will immediately fall into a deep sleep. While in this sleep, she is unable to do anything but receives invulnerability to all physical attacks. This does not affect mental or spiritual powers. The protection is not completely perfect, because some kinds of elemental based magic can penetrate it. Aurélie will automatically wake up at noon.

There is nothing of interest here.

How/Why they have it: Magic is hereditary in both the Perrault and d'Aulnoy families, in the latter more so than the former. It is said that the fair folk once found and persuaded a d’Aulnoy woman into joining a midnight dance. They had intended to keep her for themselves, entrapping her with their magic. But each time the spells formed around her, she twisted out of the way with movement so graceful that she seemed to glide from one partner to the next in safety. She charmed the fair folk that night with her wit and elegance and they in turn lavished their gifts upon her. Her descendants became both great writers and great sorcerers, capable of warping reality to their will. This masterwork combination has thus far protected the family from calamity.

Birth Place / Hometown : Paris, France

Father : Paul Perrault (52, deceased) Architect

Mother : Jeanne Marie d'Aulnoy (47) Historian

Siblings : Adrian Hexe Grimm (died 18 19 20, deceased 22) Music Composition and Voice Major

Biography : Aurélie was born into unusual privilege, her blood as blue as heaven. Her mother, Jeanne Marie was half French and half German, born to the aristocratic d’Aulnoy family. Centuries ago, her ancestors had fled the French Revolution over the English Channel, only to return to greater fortune once the French king was restored. Some might say that they had the Devil’s luck, a streak which continued seemingly into present day. Aurélie’s father was Paul Perrault, a full-blooded Frenchman whose mother held a noble pedigree, though not a name. His own father was a wealthy businessman from the bourgeois and Paul himself had become a respectable architect in his own right.

There was never any real doubt who was in charge of the family. Though Paul liked to think that he was the patriarch, Jeanne Marie was the one whose word was final. She was the one who poked his life into line, until they fit what she thought they should be. And she thought that he had to be perfectly and stylishly brainless, content to leave his affairs and wealth to her. It was a fine attitude when they were courting and her aggressive was attractive. When they were married, however, Paul found it increasingly unbearable. Their marriage would not last, though it was questionable if Jeanne Marie had ever intended it to. The divorce was a cold and ragged affair, leaving the new mother with her months year-old daughter Aurélie and half of her ex-husband’s assets.

Soon enough, Jeanne Marie married a second time. This time her husband was Johann Grimm, a full-blooded German and close friend. He was attractive to her, perhaps, because of his quiet, unassuming demeanor and name: Johann von Grimm. At the age of two, Aurélie gained her closest ally, a sister named Adrian. The two grew up close, living in French countryside villas and learning under private tutors. Aurélie naturally emerged as the leader of the two. She took after her mother and grew into the star of the family, the child who was multi-talented in music, academics, and the art. She learned to ride -mainly side saddle because that was what ladies did -and how to weave her family magic into the only weapons she would ever need. More importantly, she learned the proper ceremonies for greeting and dealing with supernatural beings. And how to get the better of them.

Life passed by idyllically, marred only by the sudden news of Paul’s mysterious and gruesome death. Jeanne Marie was found to be not a suspect in the case, her distance away from the crime scene making it impossible for her to have been present in Paris when the murder happened. After the police had taken her statement, she welcomed back her two children from the capital. Life went on. The case remained open.

At the age of twenty, Aurélie went to Manta Carlos at last with her sister. It was meant to be their introduction to the hub of supernatural activity but tragedy struck. Adrian vanished without warning one day into the dark of night. Without her trusted right-hand, Aurélie dimmed, if only a moment. Now, more suspicious and wary, she remains on the island to find what has become of her dear sister.

There is nothing of interest here.
