Name: Aulus Vespasian Blackwood
Age: 21
Birthday: December 1st
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Category: Citizen
Career: Priest
Appearance Description: Aulus stands at six feet and two inches tall with a slender build and fair skin. His hair is long and dark purple, with diagonally cut bangs that cover his right eye. His eye color goes from nearly black to blue periodically, a sign of the death god's favor. He looks fragile and mostly is, being very unsuited to physical labor of any sort. He is susceptible to chills.
Personality Description: Aulus is a kind, gentle person although he is super bad at expressing his emotions. He has unconsciously accepted that his natural state is extreme anxiety and stress, a result of a traumatizing childhood and lots of family drama. Because of this, he is overly accepting of many things that might count as emotional abuse and a little too likely to take people at their word. He takes responsibility extremely seriously and will keep his promises no matter what. It seems strange to him that others don't act the same way.
Soft spoken and intelligent, Aulus is more of an intellectual than a fighter in any form of the word. He is hopelessly devoted to those who bond with him and will go to any lengths to aid him. Some might think he is easily taken advantaged of but the fact of the matter is that Aulus keeps to himself too much for anybody to have the chance to. Otherwise, yes. He is easy to take advantage of.
Active Abilities: Death God's Favor - Aulus is a priest of Morn, a god of death. In his pantheon, Morn is considered to be a major god as well as a god of duality - being both in charge of creating life and also taking it away. As a favorite of Morn, Aulus is blessed by his god and able to keep death at bay for a maximum of an hour per day per patient he treats, including on himself. He has minor healing abilities as a result of this, able to heal most surface wounds within minutes. Deeper wounds that target organs and nerves are more difficult for him to heal and he has no experience with magically treating head wounds at all. The former would take several hours for him to properly heal after the patient has stabilized, while the latter simply must be treated normally. He is unable to treat illnesses with magic.
Necromancer's Dance - Aulus is one of a long line of necromancers but has not intensely studied the craft. Rather, most of his necromancy is based off of old childhood lessons and texts in the libraries of his god's temples. Because of this, his necromancy is less along the lines of summoning up undead armies and more along the lines of resurrecting or calling upon the spirits of individual beings at a time. Doing either requires the use of a ritual, several reagents, and the sacrifice of another living being. Because the god of death is benevolent, it allows the sacrifice of animals and even plants. Whatever is sacrificed must be in a quantity about equal to what is being resurrected or half of what is being summoned. Each ritual takes at least half an hour.
Necromancer's Respite - Being somewhat skilled in necromancy, Aulus can disrupt the work of other necromancers. By making contact with another being brought back by necromancy, Aulus can negate the magic keeping them animated. This only works on non-sapient creatures.
Passive Abilities: Death God's Favor - Because of his god's favor, Aulus has gained several blessings that protect him from harm.
Chariot to Heaven
When Aulus dies, he is guaranteed safe passage to the afterlife no matter what kind of soul thieves might be around. His god himself will come to collect his soul and deliver him from harm.
Ward Against Evil
Aulus has immunity to malicious, non-elemental magic. Any spells of this type that target him will dissipate immediately.
Ward Against Sight
Aulus cannot be the subject of magical scrying or other sight related magic.
Biography: Aulus was born Aemilia Verana Blackwood, daughter to a discordant British couple who only barely tolerated each other. His mother had actually been kidnapped from her house by his grandfather and forced to marry his father, producing two children of which Aulus was the younger. He was close with his older brother, Augurinus, to the point where his brother named him after he came out as a boy. His mother was infuriated by this, wallowing in self-pity and despair as she had taken some comfort in having another female around, bound to the family.
As a member of the Blackwoods, Aulus was expected to become a necromancer as his ancestors were. What actually happened was that at an early age he became enthralled with Morn, the god of death, to the point where he entered a temple to train as a priest. Several years in, however, the temple was attacked and most of the priests slaughtered. He was then allowed to take his vows early, something that disquiets him to this day as he feels like he could have done with the additional experience. He currently lives in a small shrine to his god on Manta Carlos, sent there to investigate supernatural phenomenon in the Forbidden Forest.
Resources: As a priest, Aulus has little in the way of material possessions. He has enough to live off of and that's about it, with exceptions made for the occasional present from his family.
