Seriously, Marcus was willing to put in the effort. "If there is no helping it, then there is no use fighting it. Live comfortably, don't worry about what others think."

"This, this person supposes so," Claudius said softly, staring at the ground in contemplation. He shook his head in frustration a moment later. "Why are you trying so hard?" The question was rhetorical; no answer given would have satisfied him. Trembling a bit, he twisted his hands into the fabric of his cape.

"Do as you want," he said, somewhat desperately. He just wanted to be left alone and didn't understand why anybody would want to get to know him. "Just please, be quieter." He did not mean in volume, he meant in passion, in life. Claudius hadn't had anything to be truly alive for for a while.

Marcus was glad he finally got them to agree, at least he thought he did. With how Claudius responded, he wasn't sure what he wanted. Did he agree to it, or did he just change his mind?

He was quiet for a moment, contemplating his answer. It couldn't be some big philosophical response, as that would probably scare Claudius. Instead, Marcus focussed on what he considered their common ground of books. Taking his time, he finally responded. "It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?"

It might have been something from Winnie the Pooh, but really it went deeper than that. Marcus respected Claudius, and just really wanted him to agree whole-heartedly.

Being told to be quiet, Marcus was still, listening to the sound of his own breathing for a moment. "How can I bond with a Proctor?"

Claudius shook his head. "Bond with a proctor?" he parroted. "How would you bond with a typical Regalia? This person does not think it should be so much different, should it?" He shifted a bit uncomfortably. "Likes, dislikes, this person does not know very much about you, nor the other way around. It makes it somewhat difficult to say for certain what type of bonding might happen."

"Oh, sorry, Um." He meant for a pact to occur, yet Marcus was unused to the slang terminology, and Bonding slipped out. "How about we just start with a pact then. How do I pact with a proctor?"

"Cornelius would have to be found first," Claudius said quietly. "He likes to frequent the art galleries in the city. After that, this person is not too sure what happens next." He had never had a pact before, after all, and barely any friends to speak of. He wasn't even sure how to go about making one.

"Find Cornelius?" Marcus repeated. Looking around, he tried to see if he could see that other clerk or even any customers. "Are you working right now?"

He didn't want him to get fired, so Marcus' plan was to either leave on Claudius' break or to help him until the shift finished, and get a load off the guy's shoulders.

He fidgeted a bit but drew out his phone. "Ithai is upstairs," Claudius said slowly, typing out a brief message. "It should be fine." Probably, unless the store burned down while he was away. He hoped not. Ithai had things about fires.

"Going?" He inquired softly, getting to his feet.

Marcus nodded as he stood up. "Ithai can be trusted to look after the store?" He thought he the other clerk say the name at some point, but he knew very little about the person.

"So, uh, to an Art gallery then?" Marcus wasn't much of an Art Aficionado, so he wasn't sure about the Islands art galleries. "Any particular ones we should check first?"

"It, ah-" he just remembered that for somebody not familiar with the shop, they would have no idea who Ithai was at all "-it is his store so yes, hopefully."

Claudius hesitated. "This person does not know where Cornelius might have gone to. However, he did express interest in stained glass some time ago. Perhaps a church or such?"
