Marcus Warke
Marcus knew he read books quickly, but even so, to memorise an entire spellbook in under a week was weird for him.

And so, picking up yet another one, Marcus found himself at the Delphi. Stepping inside, he moved to the same section he went to before.

Marcus picked up another book, and putting it under his arm, decided that purchasing it could wait a bit. He should check on Claudius. See how he was doing.

Claudius Choróin

Claudius huddled in a corner, avoiding a blinding beam of light that lazed across the ground. His knees were drawn up to his chest as he squeezed himself against the walls, trying to make him smaller than he was. It was already an out of the way location to most people, being so far in the back of the shop and the aisle entrance nearly hidden by a stack of books. All of the in and out activity lately in the shop had spooked him to this. He knew that the others meant well but social interaction still caused him great anxiety.

Marcus Warke
Having found him before, Marcus had a few clues to where to find Claudius. Obviously it was the back of the store, and it had to be surrounded by books.

Peeking around a stack, he found Claudius shying away from the light. "Is everything okay?" He said, moving into his field of vision the same way one would approach a wounded animal. Carefully, but definitely with purpose. "You seem a little uncertain."

"Well," Marcus began, crouching down next to Claudius. "Had to see how you were doing. I heard you were taking really good care of the egg I gave you?"

"That's good." Marcus nodded, slowly, unsure of his next actions.

"So uh, I have an idea, and I was, um, hoping you could help me." Marcus had recently heard it as a rumour, but it was possible to pact with the Proctors. He wanted to test it but doubted he could convince any others. If he even knew who they were. "Basically, I'd like to ask you to form a pact with me? It doesn't have to be permanent if you don't want it to be. You also don't have to do anything, but you can ask me for anything at all."

He wasn't forcing him into it, but Marcus also really wanted to know if the pact was possible.

"This, this person?" Claudius squeaked. "But why?" It was the last thing he ever expected to be asked. Pacts were actually not that common in the Regalia world - they were a rarity made scarce by the small number of pact makers in existence. That anybody would ask him for a pact had never crossed his mind. He was an outcast and pacts were meant for others far luckier and more powerful than him.

"Frankly, I think you are the most amazing Regalis I have met yet," Marcus said, a small smile appeared. "You talked to me a stranger, you helped me with my research a lot. I gave you a gift that could set you for life, but you instead looked after it."

"I know it's not quite the same, but this would help my research too. And I'll do anything you ask if you just agree." He said slowly, didn't want to scare him now.

Claudius Choróin

He didn't know what to say. People didn't say nice things to him and honestly, it was a bit overwhelming. Claudius looked at the boy uncomprehendingly. Maybe he didn't understand properly, Claudius thought. He was a human, far removed from the Regalia world. He simply didn't understand.

"This, this person," Claudius said jerkily, "is not well received among other Regalia. This person has caused nothing but trouble for their family. It would, it would not be good to do the same to somebody else." Even as he said so, he thought of Flavia, fearing for what might have happened to her because of him. "It is, it is part of their powers. There's no helping it."
