Cornelius ignored the people who were obviously outraged. Honestly, he would have been, too, but if his parents had wanted a real ruler, there were better ways to do so than giving him free reign over the process. Then again, they had probably just expected him to lie down and take the throne quietly without a fuss.
"It depends on what type of Fae you are," he said to Augustus. "Are you more spirit than flesh? If you are, then the process is easy. If not, then yes, it would require a death of sorts. It can occur whenever, whether a controlled event now or a more natural occurrence later, assuming you can even die of old age."
Shale had done his best to stay cool during the rather placid response Cornelius gave to his and Jaxon's statement, but as they often did, his emotions were starting to get the better of him. In this case, annoyance and frustration bubbled to the surface and showed plainly on his face, brow furrowing as he crossed his arms. "Fine. You want to say I'm being greedy? Whatever. That's a whole lot better than withholding information of this level and then just dropping it like the most casual thing in the world. This is bullshit. It's ridiculous."
