@Romi (Angelo), @Goblin (Shale), @Schrodinger's Cat (Jaxon, Augustus)
I believe that's everybody with a perfect win ratio~!

Cornelius Choróin

He sat upon a fallen log, having called a few of the competitors to that location at the time. There were, unsurprisingly, quite a few people with perfect scores in the tournament. Hopefully, it would be up to them who would win the ultimate prize. If not, Cornelius had to admit that he did not care much for what would happen after.

There was not a lot around that reflected on the magnitude of the situation. Besides his log, the area was clear, set up next to a small grove of trees. The grass was dewy in the early morning light, perhaps too early for some but for once, Cornelius had decided to be selfish and not so accommodating to others. Patiently, perhaps even a bit anxiously, he waited for the first of the competitors to arrive.

Angelo had gotten a note. A note that told him he had apparently... what, won the whole contest? The whole thing was kind of ridiculous, considering he'd only done three matches, but he supposed he had won all three.

Not that it mattered. Angelo wasn't planning to accept the prize, assuming that Broen was right about it. He was pretty sure he was, but there was no telling, and he was willing to show up (plain clothes) and at least check things out.

Shale had decided to walk to this meeting spot rather than fly, the note informing him that he was supposed to come here folded in his pocket. He was thankful that it was early, the light not yet harsh enough to cause him any real issues. The gargoyle's eyes fell first on Cornelius on his log, and then shortly after flickered over to Angelo.

"Oh, uh, hey. Morning." He rubbed his neck and headed over to stand by the officer, taking the letter briefly out of his pocket and holding it up for a moment before stuffing it back in. Truthfully, he wasn't really sure why he was here, given he'd only won once. However, he had a one hundred percent win ratio, which counted for something, he supposed.

Jaxon
Jaxon did not hesitate when he found out he had a chance at winning the grand prize. Everything turned out well, and he did beat a hive mind in his only match, so that might have meant something.

It was out of range of the city grid, so it took him a bit to walk over, but when Jaxon made it, he waved at Cornelius.

Augustus
Of course, he won the Contest. Augustus told himself. He had barely made an effort outside of the 20 questions game with that kid Jodie or something like that.

He was wearing a good suit, as one had to dress appropriately when receiving an award. It did annoy him though, that he had to go out to the park to get his prize.

Cornelius Choróin

He nodded at each person in greeting, a blank expression on his face. There were probably more appropriate ways to say what he was going to tell them all but social nuisances had always gone over his head. Best to get it over as quickly as possible.

"As you might have noticed," he said, "all of you gathered here have perfect win ratios." Cornelius turned to Angelo first. "Yours, however, receives precedent based off of the number of wins you achieved." This sounded vaguely but not completely like congratulations.

"Now for the heart of the matter. The main prize." Cornelius exhaled. Still looking towards Angelo, he remarked, "You seem to have bonded well with your Regalia, however few you obtained. It is considered a good trait in one's leaders to be able to make peace with many different personalities. It is a trait which I lack." There was no point in beating around the bush. The truth was the truth.

"The main objective of this tournament was to find if anybody among the mortal world would be suitable enough to lead our species. If not you," he said to Angelo, his gaze intense, "then the opportunity will be passed to the others. Should you all pass on it, well, then. I suppose I will have to ascend the throne in place of my parents, unless I can convince them to allow my older brother to return. You might have met him at some point. Claudius. One of the proctors. " He was void of emotion as he said this but at the same time...

"Neither of us are particularly good candidates for the throne." Cornelius was also not above guilt-tripping. "If you have any care for the Regalia you have come to befriend, I would strongly suggest considering it."

Angelo had known what was coming, more or less. He'd been told - by Broen, and then by Jude. He'd heard all about it, but he suspected that others were not so lucky.

"Awfully guilt trippy," Angelo said, calling it where he saw it. "Especially considering two of the people here are kids." Someone Shale's age wasn't old enough to rule anything, especially not an entire species.

"If you wanted a leader, you should have asked for a leader. Or, if you wanted someone good at making peace, you should have rewarded the person who bonded with the most Regalia. I've only got one, and by your own metrics that means I'm a poor fit."

Angelo made a small tch noise, annoyed by the obvious guilt tripping and wary of how others might react.

Shale was understandably enough at a loss for words while Cornelius explained himself, his eyes locked firmly on him, studying every minute movement of his face and just trying to make sure that he was serious. Angelo seemed to take him at his word, and summarized his thought reasonably well. "I...yeah. I don't really like how this was kind of just...dropped on us out of the blue. I'm definitely not comfortable with any of that one bit. I was under the impression that we were competing for some kind of, like...I don't know. Super powerful ability. Not this."

Jaxon
Jaxon looked at Angelo. That guy had won. The others, including himself, were just here if he didn't want it. Jaxon wasn't sure if he wanted to be the ruler of the Regalia. He wasn't one of their people. Sure his Father might approve, but it would interfere with his vigilante life.

"Um, Excuse me," He said, raising an arm. "I thought we were trying for some skill too, but to broadcast this as a game to even young people like myself? That could lead to disaster."

Augustus
He had a perfect score? Not what he thought it was, but it was to be expected. And to only be a runner up? That was an insult. "I don't mind this being the prize, and if no one else is willing to take the role, I will gladly take the position to help your people."

Cornelius Choróin

Oh. Well. At least they were intelligent enough to see past all the theatrics. Cornelius simply wrote Angelo off as a loss, shrugging at the man placidly. All of his points were, of course, correct. The issue was that Cornelius had passed the point of caring maybe a century or two ago.

"That is awfully greedy," he addressed Shale and Jaxon, perfectly mild. "You had many opportunities to gain new powers throughout this tournament -I would have let you keep them even if you had simply walked away and never participated. As some people did. In any case, in a way, you did compete for new abilities. Regalia ones. The person who becomes the species's next leader must become one of us."

To Augustus, Cornelius said, "I would be glad if you would kindly take up this position. My only question is if you would rather do so immediately or after some time. Depending on your species, you might have to first temporarily depart the physical realm to do so. It is a trivial task to convert spirits who already have the idea planted in their heads."

The whole thing was sketchy as fuck, but Angelo was at least relieved that neither of the kids seemed interested in the """"prize"""". He didn't know Augustus, but it was obvious enough he was interested, which made Angelo immediately skeptical.

"My contribution to the Regalia I've met over the course of this competition will be letting them know they're free to stay here if they want. They don't have to go back to live under the rule of a person picked almost entirely at random."

How many wins did this guy even have? One or two at most, which was... very low. insanely low.
