An ornate, gold trimmed message was delivered early one morning, naming this one of several meeting spots. There was a table nearby with a service bell on it. A small, white sign with black letters read, "Please ring bell for Pactmaster."

"Dear sir, ma'am, or any other address of your choice,

You have been nominated by an anonymous source as a worthy partner to one of us Regalia, a race of guardian spirits. One of our number is willing to form a pact with you in return for taking part in a magical tournament across the island. Please see the rules listed below.

Travis looked around curiously, was this the place? He glanced at the letter, then up at the area he was in. Yeah this was it. What the hell did he do now? The giant lizardman's tail swayed as he rung the bell as instructed.

"Yo, I'm here for that tournament?"

What the hell were these kids thinking? If he had work--and he'd have work in a bit more than a week--he wouldn't be caught dead in something so sketchy, but with all the kids out and about, running around meeting up with strangers...

Well, it was sketchy. And he didn't want to call himself a babysitter, but there he was, babysitting anyway as he followed behind Travis.

"How long before Roa gets involved?" Angelo muttered under his breath, standing a few feet behind Travis as he run the bell.

At the sound of the bell, Cornelius hastily shifted planes. "Yes, hello," he said briskly in his usual calm, a bit more hurried than he had been for previous entrants. "Are you prepared to make your pacts now?"

"Hell y-" he paused and looked at Angelo, the adult version of what amounted to his best friend in this universe. And sort of the new team dad. "I mean yes, yes I am."

He had to be on his best behavior.

The dude just materialized. Just popped out of thin air like he was there all along, and Angelo raised an eyebrow.

"Hold on. Who are you exactly? Like, name?" Because you could bet your ass he was writing this down, just in case anything went wrong. The Pactmaster was absolutely not a name. Not even slightly.

But Travis was already signing off, and pacting was what they'd come here for, and Jude and the others had all said it was fine, so Angelo finally let out a begruding sigh.

"I am as well," he said, sideeyeing Travis. "And for the record, I don't actually care if you curse. And hell yeah isn't even a curse."

"Cornelius Choróin, Regalia of the Attending Saint. You may call me whatever you choose," he introduced himself. "Now then." Raising his staff, he summoned up the magic that would seal the pact. The other Regalia were already waiting.

When all was done, he disappeared back into the other plane, waiting for other late entrants.

You know the drill, guys.

Ava marched on over to the meeting place, looking over the letter she had gotten one more time. She had said she wanted to sign uo for this thing and what do you know, she had gotten a letter. That was some nice and fast service.
Ava spotted the table with a service bell and jogged on over. And as the sign said the went ahead and rang the bell.
"Hey Pactmaster, you here?! I hear this is where I can sign up for this dope tournament. So pact me up!"
Ava hollered to thin air, grinning.

KirMir hesitantly approached the location specified on the letter. The talk of a "pact" and "tournament" had thrown up a few red flags but they were very interested in learning about this unknown race of spirits. They had weighed the costs and benefits and ultimately decided to agree to take part. If things seemed too dangerous after meeting whomever was in charge they would just walk away.

As they approached they noticed the younger girl yelling at no one "From what you have been yelling we presume you received a message to meet here too?" Mir, the female body, asked Ava.

"If you've rung the bell, we should just have to wait," added Kir, the male body, as they watched the area for other threats.

After a few minutes, Cornelius shifted back onto the mortal plane. "Welcome," he said and then stopped, considering the two identical looking beings before him. Interestingly, their combined sins and benevolence seemed to consider both bodies the same person. "Are the," he glanced at the odd girl out, "two of you prepared to make your pacts?"
