The handwriting was unintelligible, bordering on the requirement of the Rosetta Stone. "Who wrote this? A doctor?" Ian crumpled the note in his hand, unable to read the directions to the Admission's office. He was here now but he couldn't find anything. Recently shipped here, recently transferred from boring old regular people school to these islands out in the pacific where they send the freaks and the mutants to let them learn without killing normals.

The doors were nice, at least, nice to look at, well made, well decorated hall... Considerable effort had been put into making this place appear elegant and refined. Ian turned his head and sighed. "Where the hell am I even supposed to go? I don't even..." He looked back behind him, over his shoulder, before walking down the hall. "This is such bull..." He clutched the paper roughly before uncurling it again, trying to read the now crumpled chicken-scratch on it while still moving forward, not looking where he was going.

Wong Ha Jung

It appeared that there was a new face -or rather, blur- in the hallways that day. By this point, what with the apparently never ending trickle of students to the school, Wong Ha Jung probably should have learned to wear his glasses more regularly so that he could be sure. But habits were hard to break and he had always been a rather predictable, safe sort of person. It was nice having a routine to follow, even if all the squinting was most likely making his eyesight even worse.

"Where the hell am I even supposed to go?" the counselor heard the person mutter. "I don't even..." The blur paused for a moment, but didn't seem to notice him standing at the by one of the doors leading to the courtyard. "This is such bull..." The person carried on.

Oh, it's another new student, then, he guessed, from the person's vaguely disheveled appearance. Even with eyesight as poor as Wong Ha Jung's, that was readily apparent.

The Chinese man only waited a moment before starting after the person. "Excuse me?" He quickened his pace so that he could catch up. "Good morning! Do you need any help?"

Ian didn't slow his pace but he turned to look at who was talking to him. "Hmm? Heh?" Upon seeing the adult, the teacher next to him, Ian immediately slowed down, letting the newcomer set the pace as he looked up at him. He was clearly a member of the staff. Ian had seen him before. A kinder soul than most, and one undeserving of Ian's barbs. "Oh, Sorry sir. I was looking for someone to help me with Dorm assignment. I heard I was getting a new one this year but I haven't been able to find anyone to talk to about it so far... And I can't for the life of me make out the handwriting on this note."

Ian offered up the crumpled note to Wong, slowing a bit more as he offered the paper. He tried to be on his best manners and kept his voice even and soft, not wanting to show disrespect to members of the staff, to the faculty. He was here to learn from them, after all. There were others he'd show some contempt to but never his teachers, his betters.

Of course it was known that he was abrasive, that he'd gladly rustle the jimmies of the other students, but he was always quick to curb his attitude around teachers.

Wong Ha Jung

Ah, so not new, then, Wong Ha Jung thought, backpedaling in his mind. That was probably a sign that he was starting to make too many assumptions lately. He still didn't recognize the student but he supposed that he couldn't have possibly seen all of the Academy's residents yet.

"Ah, I see. May I?" As he took the paper from the young man, Wong Ha Jung squinted at the messy handwriting on the sheet. It was quite unreadable and he wasn't quite sure what he was supposed to make of it. The handwriting also wasn't familiar to him, which was strange since he had become rather well acquainted with the staff in the Admissions Office.

Although that last fact might or might not have meant anything. He had heard that positions there tended to come and go fairly quickly. Maybe they've already rotated? the man wondered. That certainly would have explained it.

Looking at the paper, though, Wong Ha Jung thought he could make up a few words if he glanced at it sideways. Having those two years of grading the psychology exams of burned out high school students was really starting to help him out on that. In any case, it looked like badly written directions.

"Oh! The Admissions Office is on the other side of the building," the man said, waving his free hand in the direction the student had just come from. "I can show you if you'd like?"

The other side of the building? Ian slapped his forehead, slowly dragging his hand down his face with a groan. "The other side of the building? Holy..." He let out a sigh.... stupid unintelligible handwriting. He was glad for the help, though, smiling at the helpful staff member here. "Thanks for this though. No idea how I got to the wrong end of the dang school, here."

He stopped and blinked a bit, did he know this guy? "I'm Ian, by the way. I don't think I've met you before, sir." He sounded somewhat tense, but admittedly Ian was quite distraught. He was in the wrong end of the school due to a bogus note from some jackass staff member who had sent him to the wrong end of the school! He kept his breathing steady and remained in control though. Why take it out on someone actually helping you? Why disrespect the staff? Ian was pissed but he wasn't stupid.

He shifted his shoulders a little, watching the man and smiling a bit. It was an awkward smile, Ian wasn't used to it, but he was quite grateful for the help though it did come with such a horrendous wake-up call.

Wong Ha Jung

"Ah, it can be a little confusing around here," Wong Ha Jung said in a slight tone of apology. "I think the person who wrote these directions must be new. I've been down at Admissions quite a lot recently so I know what the handwriting of the usual staff looks like and this just isn't it."

Now that he thought about it a little more, though, the counselor wondered if there was something wrong with whoever should have usually been on duty. He hadn't heard of anything but then again, Wong Ha Jung supposed that the Academy could be rather good at withholding information when it wanted to. Like... Well, he wouldn't think of it right then.

Smiling, the man introduced himself, "I'm Wong Ha Jung. I'm the school counselor." With a soft laugh, he said, "If you don't visit the infirmary side very much, then you probably haven't seen or heard much of me." Which was probably for the best. As much as he liked being acquainted with the students, the fact that he was usually was an indication that they either were getting sick and hurt often or that they had quite a mental load to deal with.

"Anyways, ah. Here, the office is this way." He began walking in that direction, leading from Ian's side and staying just ahead of the young man. Hopefully, once they got there, there would be somebody available to help. If there wasn't, then the counselor wasn't sure if there was anything he could do. In any case, he had an appointment scheduled soon. He hoped that he wouldn't be late for it.

Er, so. The thread's kind of old. I'm not sure that you'd want to go and post again in Admissions after being around for so long now. So I suppose this could be seen as the end of it. I did edit the thread since I had initially posted it. So if you really want to continue, I'll just edit it back to what it was before. For now, though, I'm just going to count this as completed.
