It was early in the evening towards the start of the Winter Holidays. Lila had closed her curtains, eaten a quick dinner alone, brushed her teeth and was checking her phone. She had put on a long pink T-shirt with 'Sleep' written on it in big black lettering, as well as grey tracksuit and comfy socks to keep her feet warm. Her hair was up in a messy bun and she had settled down in her bed for a much needed rest night. She certainly wasn't expecting any visitors, or permanent residents for that matter.
It wasn't that she hadn't been expecting a roommate, she had been placed in a shared dorm when she moved in, but she was the only one living there. She only used the bathroom and her bedroom, which contained a single bed in one corner, a desk in another, a large window on the same wall the bed head lay against, a chest of drawers which doubled as a counter to keep things on top of and a small table in the centre of the room which she used to eat the few meals she had in her dorm, preferring to stay out of the living/dining space that came with the shared dorms as it would men more cleaning. To make the place seem more homely, she had added a colourful carpet in the centre of the room and a photo frame given to her from her boyfriend, which stood on top of the drawers where she stored her clothing. Her school supplies were left either on her desk or next to her backpack in a corner.
So as Lila became comfortable in her bed, she heard a knock at the door. Wondering who it could be but really comfortable where she was, she raised her voice just slightly to say, "Come in!"
