Appearance: Lila is a moderately tall, slim and tanned girl. She is classically beautiful, with voluminous, wavy brown hair reaching down to her lower back. Her eyes, a shade somewhere between green and blue, are large and round. She wears minimal makeup, just a bit of gloss on the lips or mascara on the eyelashes. Her cheekbones are evident and her button nose is freckled, which she sometimes tries to cover up with foundation, as she believes it to be an imperfection. Her body is toned from hours at the gym, but looks almost dangerously slim. She believes she must keep her body absolutely perfect otherwise nobody will respect her. She prefers to wear clothes which show off her body, such as crop tops, short denim shorts and swimwear and in bright colours to be noticed. She follows fashion trends, and being so young, aspires to fit in with the more fashionable of the college students one day.
Personality: Lila is nothing if not insecure. She spends plenty of time in front of a mirror each day inspecting the way she looks. As an angel, she feels there is a need to keep up an appearance of both perfection and class. She is also known to be a narcissist and a flirt. She surrounds herself with other attractive friends for popularity and of course, boys. Despite these traits, Lila is a brainiac and excels in her classes. However, she chooses to hide this and is uncomfortable when a conversation regarding grades arises. Deep down, she feels true emotions, but has chosen to cover them up and fake her own when situations call for it. Lila can be an energetic, bubbly friend one minute and a manipulative enemy the next. She is unpredictable and not the innocent little angel her species suggests, which has both isolated her and made her popular in the past.
Powers: Lila possesses two individual powers: the ability to fly and the power to manipulate. The first can be used to get away from situations or combat, but is mostly used for leisure and showing off. To be able to fly, Lila must will her wings to come out. Invisible unless in use, her wings are easily accessed - they are unfolded similar to the way one would move their legs. Her wings are large, pure white, feathered and dove shaped, with enough power to elevate her up to 100 feet above the ground. To fly, it takes energy, and using her wings is similar to running, it can be done slowly for a long time, or for a short but fast spurt. Eventually, flying will tire Lila out, and she will have to go back down to ground level. Basically, having wings is the same as having another set of limbs, but Lila is still figuring out how to properly control them.
The second power, manipulation, is a more subtle, gradual one. Lila has almost perfected the art of getting inside another's head to get what she wants. She uses this power by looking directly into someone's eyes and trying to persuade them to do what she says. Though she is an expert at using this power, it is still weak in a battle situation, and is better used to prevent conflict before it begins, as it must be performed as close as possible, ideally in a one-on-one conversation, with both the manipulator and the victim relatively calm. Her power also cannot be used to inflict pain or damage lasting for than a few moments on another, for example nobody may be killed or wonder as a direct result of being manipulated. Effects of the power must either emotionally effect the victim, or will result in benefits for the manipulator. This works because when a victim feels they or another may be physically harmed by their instruction, it triggers their danger response. Also, Battles are usually fast paced, and it takes up to a minute for Lila's powers to work due to her needing to find eye contact, keep it, keep the other person calm and find concentration. This in itself can take more time than a battle provides, and then she has to complete the thought process of getting into the victim's head and instructing them on what to do/feel/believe, which cannot be rushed. This leaves her totally open in a fight and vulnerable to any attack as her concentration must be solely on manipulation else it will fail. Once she has manipulated someone, the affected stays true to the instruction given until either it is fulfilled, the time period Lila set them ends, Lila uses manipulation again to stop them or alter the task, or a more powerful manipulator interferes with her plans. However, the shorter and simpler the instruction is, the more likely it is that the trick will succeed. Making another believe something is almost impossible. There are many restrictions on what the affected can believe as the belief can't cause them to do harm to the self or others. Any creature with a power to do with the mind can withstand all but the simplest manipulation, and if the victim is conscious that Lila is attempting to manipulate them, they will be able to interrupt her process. The affected does not remember being manipulated, and if directly asked, they say Lila told them to do something, unless instructed otherwise. Lila's power of manipulation does not extend to mind-reading, but her facial expression/body language reading is exceptional.
Biography: Lila is lucky enough to have two loving parents, her mother being an Angel also with a Vampire for a father. It is undetermined whether or not Lila has Vampire DNA inside of her, but all former tests have come out negative. She has a younger sister who is eleven years of age and lives with her parents far away from Starlight Academy. Having no parents by her side may have contributed to Lila's wild personality, as she feels free. Year 9 is her first year coming to Starlight Academy, as her parents were worried that starting high school with humans would have its effects on their eldest daughter. She had already done enough damage there. By damage, they mean using her persuasive, manipulative powers to get her way. One boy had ended up in hospital after Lila broke his heart so ruthlessly. Coming to Starlight Academy, she wishes to find a place amongst her peers who she considers to be equals, unlike the children at her middle school. Lila played various sports such as basketball and soccer as it gained her friends and social standing At her previous school. She has an incredible singing voice (the voice of an angel, you might say!) and her leadership skills are excellent for her age. She joined many clubs at her old school but the only ones she truly loves are music and student council. Lila, having just moved to the area, is single and isn't looking for a relationship, just admirers and people to flirt with. She aspires to be a singer, as she believes this is the only way she can release her emotions without sounding pathetic
