Appearance Description : Berenice is a cute, slightly baby-faced girl who stands at five feet and one inch tall. Her usual look is dreamy but a bit on the eccentric side. The hair on the right side of her head is straight and cropped short, like a bowl cut, but on the left side, it is wavy and falls down to her waist. The color is strawberry blonde. She also has heterochromia, so her right eye is rose colored while her left is cyan.

Berenice likes dresses on the frilly side, with lots of lace. Her normal outfit is a half black and half white dress that falls to just above her kneecaps, with a high lace collar and lace on the fringe and sleeves. She likes knee high sockings and wearing floral themed accessories in her hair.

Berenice is a sweet young lady who is also kind of sociopathic due to her upbringing. She is free spirited, light hearted, and also often without social filters. Operating on her own sense of right and wrong, Berenice's moral compass is mainly based on the following: Is it good for her? Does it go against what mother and father have taught her? If the answers are yes and no respectively, then she will do what she wants. Though Berenice is perfectly capable of emphasizing with people, she is rather bad at it when it comes to animals or anybody with a good amount of animal characteristics (meaning more than one or two features. Basically, anthromorphs give her issues). For example, because she is not allowed to have pets, her reaction to seeing a cute puppy would be to squeal and then hunt it down in order to stuff and bring it home with her.

Despite her disturbing behavior, Berenice actually does stop doing things when people tell her to. She may not understand their reasons for it and probably would not be able to connect with it on an emotional level, but she will stop if the reasoning seems good enough. The problem is that she has spent most of her life with very few and very vague guidelines. Things like don't hurt anybody or don't tell lies. So Berenice always tells the truth and doesn't hurt people. That she perceives as people. She is very sheltered and naive and thus not used to dealing with real life. Lots of things will simply go over her head because she has never heard of them, let alone been exposed to them. Her childishness often leads her to believing that people think the same way she does and shares her same odd morality.

Berenice does like learning, however. She likes seeing how other people live and how they think and act. Though she is very smart, however, she is also an impatient person who is unable to sit still and simply read in quiet. She is completely book dumb and does best with things that involve active participation and using her hands to physically make something. So, while she is terrible at things like history and politics, she excels in subjects like art, math, and science. She would probably be good at music if it ever occurred to her to take up an instrument.

Major Power : Nominal Clarity - Berenice knows who you are. She may not know what you are or what you have done but should she hear your name in passing, see your name on paper, or see you herself, she will know who you are. She will know what your true name is, what names you have assumed, and if somebody were to point at a random group of people on the street and shout "Hey, you!" then she will know exactly which person is being addressed. In addition, she will know the titles that somebody has been given. She knows who the king incognito is, she knows the fairy godmother's disguises, she even knows who that random troll or spambot is on the internet. Unless that person has a pretty descriptive title, however, she will not know too much about the person themself. For example, if she were to meet somebody called Bob the Butcher, she would know that this is his title. But she won't know if he's an actual butcher, a serial killer, or just some guy who got unlucky in some secret society somewhere. She is, however, able to differentiate between different sorts of names and the person themself need not know any of these for her to have the knowledge. If, by chance, there are a hundred people all named John Doe in the same area, she will be able to register each John Doe as being different.

In short, Berenice's powers can be summed up as the knowledge of all the ways a person is or has been addressed and also the ability to tell exactly who is being referred to at any given time.

Childhood : Berenice was born to a family of eccentrics as the youngest child and only daughter. Her father, Arcturus, is a professor of Quantum Physics and known to be visibly unhinged and while not violent, spontaneous. This combined with magic in his family did not make for a particularly mellowing influence. Her mother, Alcyone, is from the well off and magical Ashworth family and is also known to be a bit of a rebel in that she ran away to become a rocket scientist on her own dime at an early age. Her parents are a perfect match for each other.

Berenice grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth, one with made out of isotope 107Ag. This number is important. Because science is very important. She was trained from early childhood to challenge the bounds and tinker with the sciences, and therefore developed an unconscious ignorance of most other aspects of life. Her family life was comfortable because even though everybody was strange, it was a very particular brand of strange. Berenice ended up being second least strange of the family. The very least turned out to be her eldest brother, Eridanus.

Early on in her childhood, Berenice's power manifested. Because of the magical nature of her both of her parents' backgrounds as well as some of her siblings having powers, this was anticipated. There was some disappointment that her powers ended up not being the especially loud and impressive sort but her parents were delighted that she had been gifted with what was deemed a "useful" power. They were, however, reluctant to give up her up to Manta Carlos, because when they had sent Eridanus there years before, he had come back a little different. The family by and large was still harmonious but Eridanus was. A little less strange. More grounded. It was unsettling.

Nevertheless, Eridanus made the push for his younger siblings to attend the school. Delphinus declined out of worry for his academic prowess, having just been accepted into Columbia, but Cygnus and Berenice both decided to go.

Currently, both siblings have been attending Starlight Academy for two years, with frequent family visits and trips back home.
