Appearance Description: The Shadow doesn't have any consistent notable features. It really depends on how much he's been consuming. If he hasn't been eating much his body is trasluscent and smokey, like a mist or a low hanging fog. He also has a difficult time keeping himself in a human form. It's not uncommon to see him looking like a Will-O-Wisp if he has gone without feeding for a long time, or if he has been unable to get enough energy from the area where he is living. If he has been eating a lot, his body is thick and black like ink. Additionally, if he's been eating sufficiently he will give himself more features, like glowing red eyes, a mouth, hair, or clothing. A well-fed Shadow appears to be wearing a hood or scarf with glowing red eyes.
Personality Description: The Shadow is an angry, sullen misanthrope who enjoys making people miserable. He likes to debate and be snarky, and shows a disdain for almost everyone he meets. There are, however, people he likes. The phrase "birds of a feather flock together" is accurate here. He finds other sarcastic people to be great company, and these types of people are the closest people who come to being his friend. Due to the fact that he is more or less made to make people miserable, he knows that he isn't exactly well-liked. His weakness is people who like to talk to him, or who seek him out for repeat conversation. He doesn't know how to deal with the unflappably friendly types, when his berating and jabs at any insecurities he can find seem to fall on deaf ears.

The Shadow feeds off the negative energy of others, like self-loathing, misery, hatred, pain, anger, sadness, etc. He feeds naturally off of the negative energy in the air, and places with a high concentration of misery are especially good feeding grounds for him. He does not need to constantly feed, and can go several months without a deliberate feeding. However, he takes glee in causing negative emotions in others, and tends to feed continually to store up a lot of energy to last a long time.

Emission Manifestations
The Shadow can change the composition of his body to mimic other gasses, such as sleep gas or laughing gas, as well as nerve gas and neurotoxins. His ability to mimic gasses is limited to the gasses that he has come in contact with. He doesn't gain any benefit from killing people, as people that he's killed with his gaseous body do not leave behind any negative feelings. He has used this ability to get people high and paranoid, making them more susceptible to his influence. He can also become air, as long as a single part of him remembers how he was. As he forms and reforms, he will lose parts of himself, and bits and pieces of his memory.

The Shadow was created when light struck the earth, causing the first shadow to be cast long on the ground. From that moment onwards his life was a blur. He's forgotten and remembered random parts of his existence.
