A large purple creature made it's way down the long, empty hallways of Starlight Academy. A newly accepted teacher, S'ivaaszi did not expect to find themself in such a position. Coming from a very curious past, he was probably more shocked than he should have let on when the headmistress called him back for his first day. Teaching went well, the students were more or less receptive to their odd looking teacher.
Seventeen different combat boots slapped the floor as the curious space octopus made it's way towards one such room. S'iva had been looking forward to the end of his day, able to escape the demands of sexually active children demanding answers to their issues. He had not originally thought that human children would have so many diseases and infections, and to be quite frank, it grossed them out quite a lot. Shuddering at that, S'iva bundled the sack of fabrics and supplies closer to what could be called a chest, squeezing it with one tentacle.

He hadn't sewn in such a long time, and the thought of being able to do so was more than gratifying. One such door appeared in his line of vision, and a slimy purple tentacle reached out to grasp the knob, turning it over lightly as he pushed it open at the same time. Yes, here was a good spot to sew some extra things. His small shop was lacking in clothing for winged creatures, and now was as good a time as ever to restock.

The door had been having a dead week, meaning that she had more or less slept through it for lack of things to do, awakening only when she heard loud footsteps stomping down the hallway. Lots of footsteps. Was there an army coming through or something? It sure sounded like it and to be honest, it was kind of a creepy noise in this otherwise quiet wing of the school. Groggily, Woody strained against the very limited scope of her vision, trying to see if it was possible to figure out where this blasted noise was being caused by.

As the wince worthy sound came closer and closer, Woody was startled to see this giant marbled mass of black, purple, green, and gold suddenly stop in front of her, in what seemed to be a threatening manner. The noise she had been hearing was from its boots, all seventeen of them and covered with, with -were those stickers? Woody thought they were stickers- confusing things, pounding hard against the ground.

For a moment, the door really thought that the school had been overrun by alien invaders. Well, ha! Joke's on them! I can just relocate them elsewhere. Unless they vaporized the school. But that would be stupid, right, if some of them were still in there? And maybe they had really high temperature lasers or something that she wouldn't be able to relocate. That was actually kind of a scary thought. But also pretty interesting and worth putting on her List of things to do if I ever grow hands.

But then she noticed that it seemed to be holding something. Is that cloth? Okay. Maybe this is a... student? Although that would be the strangest student she had ever seen. Ever.

Staring at the person -er? Person? Is that the right word for it?- and feeling utterly perplexed as it turned the doorknob, her attention was caught by the fact that a bit of the fabric it was holding had touched her wood. Unable to resist making her presence known in some way, Woody promptly relocated it to the door across the hall from her.

A list of things he had to accomplish was running through his mind, and he absently made a checklist of supplies he needed to get, and the ones he already had. He paid no mind to what touched or didn't touch the door, because, who bothers to think of such things?
However, the sudden teleportation ripped him away from his absentmindedness, and S'iva blinked both of it's large, purple-red eyes. Slowly, it turned and it's funny, almond shaped mouth opened, revealing rows and rows of teeth. In shock more than aggression, S'iva grasped the bag to it's chest even harder, wondering if the doors teleported people, or whether this was some odd sort of locking mechanism.

Curious, inspired, and a little angered by the teleportation, S'iva slid closer to the door, tentacles coming up before hesitating. His motions were assisted by the existing coat of slime he had left before the door earlier, and S'iva imagined that the janitors of the school probably did not enjoy his presence very much. Though, if he could learn to teleport. His mouth opening once more, S'iva let out a rasping, screeching noise, trying first a greeting in his own alien language. That taken care of, S'iva immediately shook off one combat boot, slithering on top of it to make it disappear underneath the inner folds of his tentacles. The one tentacle now naked, the divine octopus raised the long limb slowly, before slapping it definitely onto the wooden surface of the door.

Uh oh, is it angry at me now? Maybe I shouldn't have done that. That screeching was awfully terrifying but Woody, um. Stood there. Firm. Like a door. Since it was firmly established now that she could at least relocate the person creature thing, she felt just a little less threatened and more confident in her ability to not get smashed to pieces. Okay, okay! Fine! Bring it on, um. Whatever you are! I can take it! For this door was a mighty door made out of finely crafted mahogany and there was no way that it was just going to open up for any thing that came its way. Woody just wasn't that kind of door.

Curiously, she watched as the many colored creature shook off one of its very oddly decorated boots. As the boot disappeared into its mass, the door wondered if it had eaten or dissolved it. Or maybe it simply was storing it away? What she did know, however, was that it was leaving a rather nasty film of slime over everything it touched. Oh no, it's on the doorknob now, too, isn't it? Wait. No. That means now nobody will touch it! Maybe more people will touch the wood now!

Even as she mentally cheered at this, she couldn't help but feel just a little nervous as the creature lifted up one of its tentacles. But it wasn't going to attack, no. To her surprise, it acted just as many other people did when they didn't immediately get angry or run off screaming. It touched the wood.

Woody made sure that when she relocated it this time, she got all the slime as well. Not wanting to try her luck too much, she only sent it to the end of the hallway. Almost as an experiment.

All right, your turn now.

As soon as the tentacle slapped wetly against the study wooden door, S'iva felt a mild squishing sensation, before finding they had been relocated to the end of the hallway.
Once more, it's mouth opened wide, in shock and amusement. This was turning into more or less of a game, and S'iva was absolutely enjoying it.

Wriggling back to the door, with a little more haste this time, S'iva was positioned right back in front of it, examining the unassuming chunk of wood closely. It didn't glow, hum, or do anything that may have suggested a magical presence. S'iva wondered if anything was trapped inside, or whether the door was simply ... Quirky. Trying English this time, S'iva spoke with a heavy, alien accent. "Are you ... Speaking door?" Curiously, facial features rearranged themselves to the side, looking almost as if they were tilting their head. However, no visible head was present, and instead, it sort of looked like it's face was melting off.
Righting itself, S'iva tentatively reached out once more, sliding down the smooth wood in a sort of ... Caress. "You're a very pretty door..." More than anything, he wondered what this door hid behind it. It wasn't very often that he was faced with a door that refused anyone entry.

Even though she had been expecting it, the door still felt some surprise at seeing that creature come back so quickly. And then remain fairly docile. To be honest, if Woody still had a head, she probably would have nodded at the part where it could speak mostly coherent English. Knowing that even this alien could communicate with everyday people, however, brought her a particularly unusual sense of frustration.

Oh, sure. It's not like I could speak English before. She sulked to herself, Grammatically correct? Yeah, right! Why do I even need to know how to speak? I'm a bloody door so why the bloody hell would I need to do something useless like that? Noooo. Just keep on walking, people, it's not like I've got anything to say to you anyways. Ha ha.

...

Oh God, she was really being hopeless now, wasn't she? That kind of thing was supposed to have stopped bothering her decades ago! Angst, what angst? Absolutely, positively, none! There was already more than enough of that going about the school and Woody really felt that if everybody else was already doing it, then that was a good sign for her not to. Road less traveled and all.

However, flattery was more than enough to calm the door down. It had worked when she was a human -a beautiful, blonde human woman, she would like to amend- and it definitely worked on her now. If Woody could move, she would have preened. Why yes, I am a very pretty door! Mahogany is just lovely, don't you think?

She still had to relocate the octopus a bit, just a couple of paces to the right. It had touched her, after all, so she felt obligated to do so. Although, it was admittedly a very nice kind of touch that she could get used to. Plus, if I don't do anything, maybe it'll think I'm just a regular, dumb, enchanted door.
