Cornelius Choróin

Normally, Cornelius let the competition run itself, since everybody seemed to be more or less playing by the rules -a real surprise, honestly. However, after some group sessions with the other proctors, there was one detail that stood out to all of them. Namely, that a single person had lost a lot of challenges. It was spectacular, honestly. It might not have been the highest loss ratio of them all (that would belong to the ones who took only one challenge and promptly gave up) but the fact that this competitor kept going in the face of their losses was remarkable. And possibly something to be rewarded.

He had called up a particular Regalia to meet him and the contestant at the Academy. Hopefully, the Regalia felt strongly enough to impart their blessing one more time. If not, then he would simply go digging back around to finding a different one to reward the contestant with.

Aria was fairly busy, what with police academy classes during the day and also spending most of her free time with KirMir and their other regalia. But of course when Cornelius contacted her she agreed to set some time aside to meet up. She was after all a part of the tournament as much as any other regalia.

She was wearing a polo shirt emblazoned with 'Cadet' on it along with the symbol for MCPD and her hair was tied up in a ponytail. Coming directly from her police academy classes meant she didn't have time to change. She stepped out of the green-rimmed portal and closed it behind her with a flick of her wrist, making sure nothing was caught between the two connections.

"Hello," she nodded in greeting. "Sorry if i'm a little bit late. We had a big test today and... well none of that is really important to regalia stuff so i'll just save the details."

"Quite understandable," Cornelius said peacefully, accepting the other Regalia's clumsy excuse. "My call was rather short notice. I hope it was not too much trouble." And even if it was, well. Most people came running when Cornelius asked them to. Not because of him, of course. Because of his parents. "One of the competitors is showing incredible determination for his amount of losses. I was wondering what your opinion was on this person. Genovese, I think it was?"

"No, no. I'm pretty good at getting to places on short notice," she chuckled. Portals made that fairly easy. "Besides, I figured it was pretty important if you were calling." Refusing Cornelius would have been... well she wouldn't have refused unless she absolutely had to.

Aria rubbed at one of her horns as she thought back to meeting Jude in the competition. "Jude you mean? Well in the challenge he and KirMir competed in he was quite good about explaining why things were truths or not. Unfortunately it was cut short because something KirMir brought up seemed to really bother him and he was no longer able to focus on the challenge. He and his partner were clearly concealing exactly what the problem was but given the way he was reacting I would guess it was something pretty serious that was upsetting him," she relayed as she paced around Cornelius a little bit.

"However I have encountered him a few times since then in the community center. He's friendly and respectful and from what i've seen, if I had not already become attached to KirMir I would have probably been ok being his partner." She would have asked for the same things from him that she had from KirMir though. The honest truth about something that was difficult for them to reveal and to have a good time hanging out with her. The former was the most important part. She was very much about honesty.

"How fortunate that you feel that way," Cornelius said. Of course, what he meant by that was that it was fortunate he had contacted Lucianne about the matter beforehand and now was receiving confirmation of her information. It was nice having somebody around who automatically knew the most likely current events but it came with the caveat that sometimes, just sometimes, they were utterly wrong.

"Such tenacity should be rewarded, no?" he continued. "How would you feel about imparting some knowledge of your abilities?"

Aria raised her eyebrow. Why did she get the feeling that him asking her about this was practically just a formality? Like he had expected this kind of response from her. Still, she wasn't going to lie and make things difficult. She didn't see a reason she couldn't offer some of her blessing to Jude.

"If you think this reward is reasonable, I am not opposed. But I will ask for one thing from him first. Everyone has to spend effort and time to earn their blessings. So for this I would like to ask him what upset him so much during that challenge with KirMir," she explained with a sigh. She was well aware that it might be quite difficult and painful for Jude to talk about it and she felt horrible for requesting it. That was part of the point, unfortunately. If it was easy to be honest about then it wasn't a true test.

Aria nodded in agreement. Not that there was really a choice there. "Sure, we do kind of need him here for this don't we?" Aria replied with a smirk and hers wasn't really a question either. Both of them knew Jude needed to be summoned for this so they could see if he was interested.

The corners of his lips curled up a little as he drew out his phone. It was a curious thing, phones. Regalia had something like them but more bulky and only useful for one specific person to another, not from one person to whoever they felt. He dialed the number he knew and spoke shortly to the Regalia on the other end.

"Would you come and bring your partner, please?" he asked, naming the location where he and Aria were currently at. "Thank you."

Jude happened to be with Wolfgang he'd gotten the call, doing the most mundane of all things: Practicing with his new arm. Wolfgang was a master of the senses, and going with him over the different pieces of his arm was undeniably helpful. It was the first time in more than a year that Jude had any sensation in his arm, and there were definitely some tweaks needed.

Wolfgang wasn't told what was going on when they finally arrived at the designated location, and so neither was Jude. But seeing Cornelius--the organizer of the whole thing--standing beside Aria... Jude couldn't help but feel like he was in trouble. It was like getting called into the principal's office, and while he'd gotten along just fine with Aria in the past, he couldn't help but remember that the last time they'd formally met, he'd basically run off mid-challenge.

Was that bad? Was that breaking the rules?

Wolfgang slapped Jude on the shoulder as they approached, his hand sliding down to Jude's mid-back as he basically slid him forward against his will.

"Here he is," Wolfgang said with a brief wave of his hand. "You wanted to see him? If this is about the winning, that's the other Angelo."
