"Tch." Augustus wasn't going to turn around. Nope. Not even after hearing an apology. Besides, Dreizel was too late with his realization. The damage was done, and Augustus can't stop hating him just because he said sorry. The human wasn't the forgiving type.

But he can let it go. He won't pretend that Dreizel wasn't pissing him off, but he could stop being a jerk. It wouldn't do him good in the long run, anyway. After all, Dreizel was, apparently, his roommate now.

"Just don't mention it again."

Don't turn around, Augustus. Don't turn around don't turn around dontturnaround-- He turned around. Dammit. His body turned to Dreizel on its own, and his eyes opened, looking-- er, glaring?— at the angel.

"Aren't you going to rest? You gotta rest, unless you're done touring yourself around the campus which means I won't have to tour you around anymore."

"Just don't mention it again."

At the reply, Dreizel's face broke into another grin and just as Augustus turned to look at him, too. "Okay, I can do that," he replied with a nod. He made a zipping motion over his lips. "Such subject's never goin' to see the light of day ever again. Not even the moonlight, 'cuz, ya know, can't have secrets spilling out even after dusk, right?"

And it didn't even matter that Augustus was glaring at him. It seemed that was a normal thing for the other. Dreizel wondered if there was somebody in here whom Augustus did not scowl at.

"I've seen some of the campus. Mostly, I've been looking around the city. It's a lot more exciting to look at, ya know? I mean, it's not all that different from New York, but--okay, it is a lot different, but the thing is, it's got people with strange powers this time. I've seen this guy with a huge wolf pet. And there was also a girl with hair that eats and eats and eats things. Oh! And there was one time I went to the docks, I saw a girl jump into the water and when she broke the surface, she was jumping high with a tail and gills and scales. It was awesome, ya know? Though I think she might not like me very much. She swam away when I tried befriending her..." He trailed off and sat quietly, his eyes faraway as if he was elsewhere. The look in them didn't change when he spoke again, staring at a wall it seemed. "So have you met Cean yet?" he asked, his eyes focusing back on Augustus.

"Uhuh..." Dreizel had to stop blabbering too much, really. How could he even manage to say so many things just to answer a question? Augustus rolled his eyes-- a natural reaction-- waving a hand off dismissively.

But when Dreizel asked about Cean, Augustus' negative aura seemed to suddenly wither, replaced solely by dejection. His eyes dropped to the mattress of his bed and focused on one spot thoughtfully.

"No, not yet," he muttered just loud enough for Dreizel to hear. "I don't even know what to say once we meet. I followed him here to drag him back but... Earth is such a wonderful place..."

Wonderful, indeed. Despite wars in different areas of the planet, despite humans still being greedy, despite evil being in every corner, Earth sure was a lot more peaceful than Equilibrium. Augustus was young, and while he wanted to do something about the chaos in their home planet, it was inevitable for him to want to stay here instead. Live normally, peacefully, unafraid.

"No, not yet. I don't even know what to say once we meet. I followed him here to drag him back but... Earth is such a wonderful place..."

Dreizel turned to look at Augustus, his stare bemused. He had a million ways to say otherwise, tell Augustus that no, earth isn't as wonderful as it seems. That there were places here on earth that were even worse than the arena in Equilibrium. That the pain some people bore in here were worse in collective measure. That although he hasn't seen even a tenth of the places here on earth, Dreizel could tell that the atmosphere was filled with pain and sorrow.

But Augustus was right also. Earth was more peaceful than Equilibrium in more ways than one. Despite the heaviness of the atmosphere in a lot of places, there were also many more that were light and untouched by the grievances of death. Wars were smaller, casualties fewer. And there was only one race that ruled the planet.

Reflecting upon this, Dreizel remembered what they taught him before. War was inevitable. That was why they, the angels, were given the responsibility to make it seem more like competitive games rather than all-out massacre.

"Well, you don't have to drag him back go Equilibrium the moment you meet him. I'm not going to force any of you to return either," Dreizel replied with a careless shrug. "I think... you both deserve a little break from your old lives anyway."

"How about a huge break instead?" Augustus turned his gaze back to Dreizel. He seemed tired all of a sudden, and he wanted to just... sleep it off. "Staying here sounds better. Even for you. They've been hard on you."

He wasn't one to back out on plans, he wasn't one to run away. But peace was such an attractive and tempting paradise; why would he choose chaos over it? He didn't have anything to come back to in Equilibrium. His idiot brother was here with him, and even though they often disagreed, Dominik was still his only family now. And they were both safe here on earth.

"Well, okay, a huge break, if you want," Dreizel said, contemplating if by that, Augustus meant he'd spend the rest of his life here. He shrugged when the other included him into the equation.

Staying here didn't sound bad, sure, but that meant he's avoiding what he should be doing. Or not. Nobody told him what he should be doing specifically. He was just thrown down here to learn his lesson. A lesson that's supposed to learn to take care of humans rather than satisfy his own wants that is to just fly and fly and... Not that he could do anything else but focus on his tasks. They took his wings.

And it was easy for Augustus to say that. He was mortal. He has six, seven, maybe eight decades to look forward to and then, bam. Dead. Nothing. Meanwhile, Dreizel's life has no end. Unless, of course, some epic, large-scale war between angels and daemons happen back at Equilibrium and he is called back to give his service to his race and he dies, then that's the end of his line. But it's unlikely to happen.

"It was my fault anyway..." he told Augustus as he sat with his feet up on his bed. "I deserve this, I guess. I mean, if I did what I was supposed to, none of us would have gotten here. Well... now that I think about it, I don't really regret it." Not if it meant his friends get some good time away from their frustrations.

"Heh." Augustus snickered, closing his eyes, succumbing to the rest he's been desiring. "You were just unlucky to have two very stubborn kids to take care of. If it weren't you, another angel will still be in that exact spot. Or somewhere worse. Don't blame yourself so much."

Wow, what in the world was he saying? He sounded like he was belittling Dreizel, like he meant to tease him a bit... but his words were oddly genuine. Thank goodness the angel wasn't a mind reader.

"Right, so," he continued to speak, not opening his eyes, "stop sounding pathetic, it's not like you. Just be quiet, alright? I want to rest. But..." His eyebrows furrowed. He turned his back to the angel once more, not wanting to feel so exposed as a slight uncomfortable tingling sensation crept up his cheeks. "...Maybe we can grab some decent meal later... J-Just offering. Fine by me if you're not interested..."
