Appearance Description: Rust-red coloured hair and fair skin, Versailles is a fairly pretty young woman. Her eyes, when not hidden by her hair or paperwork, are a bright forest green that seem to pierce through to your soul while also being windows to her own and are framed with long lashes. Her lips are full, and generally the edges of her mouth are curved with loneliness, but on rare occasions they will spread into a mischievous grin.
On Versailles' neck are a few pale scars, mostly in places they won't be seen but there are a few that she covers up with makeup. The most visible scars when not covered, are located just beneath and behind her ears.
She has a general slender, hourglass figure and little visible muscle. She isn't out of shape or physically weak, however she is very far from being the strongest fighter out there. Her bones are stronger than the general average if only slightly, however her skin is easily cut or scraped and she tends to bleed more than usual when that happens.
On her back, where the spine ends, a fluffy red fox tail extends. Likewise, a matching pair of fox ears sits atop her head. These are the result of her adoptive parents' experiments.
Personality Description: When she first arrived on the island, Versailles was solemn and silent, rarely speaking to anyone outside of class, even to her roommate. Since then, she has discarded her fear that she was accepted on the island only because she had nowhere else to go, and cracked out of her shell.
Versailles is both headstrong and gullible, an odd mix that usually ends with her giving up the argument unless it personally involves her. She’s steadfast to her beliefs, and while she may vocally argue against another, forcing them on another person makes her uncomfortable. She isn't fond of large crowds or being the center of attention, but she certainly loves a good hug. Versailles tends to be blindly loyal, and while seeing a person’s faults, ignores them entirely.
When she’s anxious or nervous her left ear twitches more than her right, but when she’s scared, intimidated or startled her right ear twitches more. Both will make her fur stand up, particularly on her tail. When she’s ecstatic or eager her tail will flick about behind her and her ears will prick up, and when she’s upset her ears will swivel until they’re almost flat against her head.
Powers: Versailles possesses the rare psychic ability of Retrocognition, the ability to see into the past, similar to how a fortune teller might look into the future. The ability is not without limits, but often receives less interference than many of the other psychic abilities. When looking into the past, it’s not quite the same as watching a film or a clip of the future. The viewer actually enters the past, spiritually, and watches it happen as if they were truly there but cannot affect it. Strong mediums could use this to interact with the past as a poltergeist, however Versailles can only interact with moving objects that collide with her. Namely projectiles like bullets and thrown objects, that will travel through her, and cause the same amount of pain as actually getting hit without the injury.
When using this ability in an open, public area, Versailles has a lot of difficulty finding the time she actually wants as there are many times that call out, such as when someone had their first kiss or when someone was murdered, or an important conversation that affected the present. She can see as far back as 100 years, though usually not intentionally, or as far back as the room existed. The image is often reflected in her irises, but it is not a clear image.
When her hearing disappeared, her mind replaced it with Clairaudience, the ability to hear the supernatural, such as ghosts, fey, and non-corporeal beings. It’s weaker than her retrocognition in the sense that she has no control over it whatsoever. It will, on occasion, activate on its own in the presence of a powerful supernatural being or a large group of weaker ones.
Both powers are ultimately very draining if used for extended periods of time, and can cause her to fall unconscious if too much power is used
Biography: Versailles' birth parents are mostly unknown, her aunt and uncle who adopted her had a few photographs but not many. As a child she would sometimes try to see them in the past when the photos were taken, but they never visited her uncle's lab. She grew up surrounded by her uncle's strange experiments and attempts at mixing the talents of predators together. She grew up happily, helping her Uncle with his work by caring for the animals. As it progressed, his work began to evolve from creating creatures to help people to creating hunters to help murderers. Versailles didn't know it wasn't generally acceptable, she didn't even know her uncle was dealing with illegal experiments. When she was twelve, Versailles became the first human test subject. She was given a synthetic fox tail to begin with, which occurred with no problems. She learnt to use the tail for balance as if she'd always had it. The next step wasn't quite so easily done.
Three years later, a synthetic pair of matching fox ears were grafted to her head, although when they didn't seem to work properly, her uncle sliced through the nerves of her ear, disconnecting them so that he could attempt to reroute them to the synthetic ones. The experiment failed, and left Versailles permanently deaf. It wasn't til after this that Versailles found an ability to hear things she couldn't see. The country's government came soon after and shut down her uncle's lab, sending him to prison and leaving Versailles on her own.
It had been her aunt’s last wish that Versailles attend a very particular private school in the middle of the french countryside. The girl barely lasted a full year there under the constant scrutiny, before packing her things and fleeing. She was met on her way out of the city, by a pyromancer on his way to Rennes, and joined in his travels.
In Rennes, the two teenagers joined a criminal gang run by Abel’s uncle. They didn’t see much of any crime, being too young to be official members, but that didn’t stop Abel from dragging her out onto the streets with other gang member’s children. They dubbed themselves as 'The lost boys’ and vandalised public property, often getting themselves or others hurt in the process of escaping. In an attempt to keep this escapades from direct attention from Abel’s uncle, Versailles did her best to learn advanced first aid, lowering the number of doctor visits they needed. Gradually, as the boys got older, they were incorporated into 'official gang duties’, and Versailles was left with an awful lot of free time alone with Abel. For about a month.
Abel fell in love. Not just a passing romance, highschool sweethearts kind of love. It was one of those starry eyed, everyone could see they were meant for eachother kind of love. Versailles spent much more time alone, or with the gang’s local doctor, thinking rather unpleasantly about her past. When Abel received a letter from a place called Starlight Academy, Versailles was all too happy to take his place. She’s been on the island for two years since then, and is now entering her third year of college, but she still has reservations and paranoia.
Additional Information:Versailles is mostly deaf, able to hear if someone shouted right by her ear but not what they shouted, and completely unable to hear a normal conversation. She can read lips relatively well, but often times needs a visual aid.
Versailles is currently 7 months pregnant
