Nova glimpsed Victor as she waited for a fist to come down on her face. He was trying to save her, and she appreciated that, but nothing could be done. She was doomed, with the guy's fist seconds away from impact with her face. As he was knocked down into the snow she tried to use the moment to twist away from the guy, but he was too strong. She was helpless in the situation.
But all of a sudden, something unexpected happened. Victor shot up from the ground faster than humanly possible and pushed the guy who was much, much bigger than him. It was incredible. Nova fell to the ground, unable to steady herself in such a short amount of time. She wasn't hurt, just a little bit cold, but the guy who was going to punch her might have been.
Neither Victor nor the other guy were yelling out in pain, and she wondered why. The collision was so fast, something must have been done. Getting up, she realised both had contracted injuries, Victor's looking much more severe. She did not know what to do, and panicked. After all, he had saved her from that.
"Victor!" she called out in worry. Rushing over to him, she realised his wounds were worse than she had really seen. The thick skin and environment of her species meant they did not get horrible injuries. Sure, Nova's skin would have bruised had she been punched, but it would be nowhere near as bad as what Victor's was.
"I am so sorry! You did not need to- your arm! Is it broken? Please tell me it is not broken! We need to get you to the infirmary!" She would have hugged him but assumed it would hurt him too much. Instead, she put a hand on his back and asked, "W-where exactly is the infirmary?"
She repeatedly cursed herself for letting him get hurt like that. She would not have broken a finger, but Victor my have broken an arm! Why did she always seem to hurt people and come out unscathed? She felt terrible!
