"Okay, yes, that sounds right. I have recently enjoyed claiming that I am a space pirate due to my voyage through space and invasion of a foreign ship. That is beside the point, I am sorry." She said, her words reverting back to the way they were. She was speaking absent-mindedly, paying more attention to her conflicting thoughts about Victor. They had only just met! She scolded herself. There shouldn't be so much to worry about in a small chat about a toppling tree.
"I suppose I did," she agreed, grinning for the first time in a while. "So I still haven't broken a tree. Oh well, there is plenty of time for that," she joked. She hoped the tree situation would simmer down over time. It was not the first impression she wanted to give.
"Most aspects of Earth appear to be," She commented. "Also, we do not get seasons on my planet. I have experienced a year of them on a different island, but there was no snow. I have only read about it." She said, looking around at the snow underneath her feet, the snow atop the school building and the snow which had surrounded the fallen branch she had sat on.
"—Alright," she said after a long pause for thought. Their conversation hadn't gone ten minutes and it was already becoming too deep. This sort of topic was one she would find easier to discuss when her Night Fever was in full swing, but recognised that a discussion was required anyway. "So why did you not walk away?" She asked. It was the standard question in that situation, as far as she could tell, and there was no use 'beating around the bush,' as humans would say.
Nova had learnt all she knew about the human world from fragments in History lessons on her home planet and the small telephone she had used for a year when she escaped. She would not tell others that unless directly asked, and certainly would not tell others she was particularly adept at something without truly meeting them first, and was surprised that Victor had. She wanted to hate him for that, but did not. She wanted to like him for saving her, but that feeling was fading too. She was now more conflicted than ever when it came to first impressions.
