"Okay, yes, that sounds right. I have recently enjoyed claiming that I am a space pirate due to my voyage through space and invasion of a foreign ship. That is beside the point, I am sorry." She said, her words reverting back to the way they were. She was speaking absent-mindedly, paying more attention to her conflicting thoughts about Victor. They had only just met! She scolded herself. There shouldn't be so much to worry about in a small chat about a toppling tree.

"I suppose I did," she agreed, grinning for the first time in a while. "So I still haven't broken a tree. Oh well, there is plenty of time for that," she joked. She hoped the tree situation would simmer down over time. It was not the first impression she wanted to give.

"Most aspects of Earth appear to be," She commented. "Also, we do not get seasons on my planet. I have experienced a year of them on a different island, but there was no snow. I have only read about it." She said, looking around at the snow underneath her feet, the snow atop the school building and the snow which had surrounded the fallen branch she had sat on.

"—Alright," she said after a long pause for thought. Their conversation hadn't gone ten minutes and it was already becoming too deep. This sort of topic was one she would find easier to discuss when her Night Fever was in full swing, but recognised that a discussion was required anyway. "So why did you not walk away?" She asked. It was the standard question in that situation, as far as she could tell, and there was no use 'beating around the bush,' as humans would say.

Nova had learnt all she knew about the human world from fragments in History lessons on her home planet and the small telephone she had used for a year when she escaped. She would not tell others that unless directly asked, and certainly would not tell others she was particularly adept at something without truly meeting them first, and was surprised that Victor had. She wanted to hate him for that, but did not. She wanted to like him for saving her, but that feeling was fading too. She was now more conflicted than ever when it came to first impressions.

"Space pirate Nova? Seems like a weird Anime name." Victor thought that it was a bit rude, so he quickly added. "Sorry. Still not used to long conversations."

She didn't seem to want to continue talking about the Tree, so he refrained from the topic. He didn't want her to feel uncomfortable.

"Yeah," he added. " It doesn't snow in a lot of places. This is actually the first time I have seen snow myself." Usually, winter was just a lot of rain for him.

Why did he stay? "uh, I don't know really." Truthfully, He had accidentally joined the conversation.

"Anime? I-I'm not quite sure what that is," she said. She had never heard the term in her life. Linking the word to the only similar one she knew, she asked, "Is it like animal? Is Space Pirate Nova an animal?" She knew she was probably way off, but she could only try.

"This conversation is hardly long," she said. "I have talked all night to others before." How peculiar, she thought. A conversation not ten minutes long was longer than Victor was used to. "How long do you usually conv- talk for?" With that, she readjusted her stance so that she was more comfortable. She had neglected the way she stood whilst she was nervous. Now that she was more concerned about what she thought of Victor rather than what he thought of her, Nova did not feel the need to have brilliant posture.

Strangely enough, Victor no longer talked about the tree. He did not even react to her last statement. Unsure what this meant, Nova decided not to react to his lack of reaction and instead remained silent.

Surprised he had never before experienced snow yet came from Earth, Nova bent down to scoop a handful up. Gasping at the coldness of it, she rolled it into a ball and threw it at his leg. "I ha- I've heard this is what you humans do with snow." It was a close range shot. She considered it unfair to aim anywhere else.

"No reason? You expect me to believe that you d-on't have conversations over ten minutes long, but on the rare occasion that you do, you just... do it for no particular reason?" There was always a reason. Either he was dodging something or he had not thought about the question.

Oh you poor soul, he thought to himself. "Not really, its the term given for a style of entertainment." Maybe he simplified it wrongly. "Either way, good guess about it being an animal."

All night? Seems a bit long. unless the Hours are shorter due to a change in the... His thoughts drifted off. Either way, ten minutes of conversing were quite challenging to uphold. "Generally my conversations are quite limited to one or two sentences."

She was now visibly quite relaxed. Was this good?

Victor almost yelped when she threw the snowball at his leg. It was cold, and she was strong. Thankfully, it was just still snow and fell apart easily.

Nonetheless, he jumped back about half a metre. "Yeah, that seems to be it, I think."

Victor Shrugged. Now he was feeling a bit unsure. What did she want him to say? "I'm sure sometimes you have trouble controlling you how act sometimes. I just don't know."

Nova had no idea what Victor was talking about. Entertainment- and an animal? "So... Like a zoo? They are animals and entertainment. Or what about a circus? One of the travelling ones, humans supposedly have. Or... Is it a pet?" She guessed, getting no nearer to the answer than she was initially and probably making herself sound stupid unknowingly. "Anyway, one day I will just have to see an anime for myself. Have you seen any before?" She still assumed an anime was an entertaining animal.

"One or two sentences?" She asked, amazed. "How does anyone become your friend then? It is not possible to say anything worthwhile in a two sentence conversation!" Nova herself relished conversation and would never stop at two sentences. "Has anyone ever questioned that before? Like, why you do not stay to chat?" She asked.

The way Victor looked at her made her uncomfortable. It was as if he was studying her like a textbook. She knew she could not be read as easily as a a textbook, but the over-analytical stare on his face, which could pass for curiosity but was clearly more than that, was discomforting at the very least.

The fact that Victor did not throw a snowball back at her confused her. She thought that was what humans did. Then again, what did she know?

"Are you implying that I am impulsive?" She asked, more annoyed than offended. He probably did not realise he was, but the comment was rude nonetheless. "I am sorry if you do not want to explain," she followed up. Of course a smart boy like him would know that everyone had reasons for things, it was whether or not they admitted them.

She wasn't any closer than before. "no its... um, have you heard of a Television?" He'll try to make her understand.

Friends. He didn't have many of those. He tried to disguise his semi-depressed voice. "Well, it's more the experience rather than the conversation, I think." She was the first to ask him about it.

She seemed uncomfortable. Why was that? He blinked and looked at the ground. Was he the reason? Maybe it was because he didn't throw a snowball at her.

"You might be impulsive." He was a little startled by her annoyed tone. "I don't know really, but everyone did something they can't explain."

"Yes, I have heard of a television. I have one in my dorm, actually," she said. Was an anime a television? This was becoming more confusing by the second! "Hold on... Is my television... An anime?" She asked in hope. She was going to get it sometime. She hoped. "Well, we will have to see an anime sometime then. Whatever it may be." She was satisfied with that. The hope that one day she would see an anime and all would be revealed.

"Oh, um, okay," she said, feeling foolish that she had interpreted his statement wrong. "That makes sense. I was just... I do not know what I was thinking. Of course you would do it for experience." She said. Nova was surprised he did not converse more often, but she was not in a fit place to judge, having started the conversation by being in a falling tree.

"Are you alright?" She asked. He no longer looked committed to the conversation.

"Okay then," she said, preferring to end the argument before it began. "I see where you are coming from. I think I just wonder too much."

Nova was enjoying Victor's company now. She felt that they could be great friends in future.

Thinking again, how could he explain this to her? Then she gave him the answer. "Oh, I'll show you one someday. Uh, here's my number if you need it."

Victor pulled a pad out of his pocket and wrote a series of number on it and handed the page to her. "Call me if you need help with anything else about Earth culture." It would be good for her to learn more about the planet.

Great, now she was apologising for his own flaw. At least she asked him why he avoided others. Everyone at his old school just called him a nerd' and a loser. "Its okay, I just... yeah."

"Yeah, I'm alright."
Victor crouched down and made a snowball. it was that cold, it burned his hand. Taking a step back, he tried to throw it at her, but had little ability in throwing, and it veered off to the left, hitting a passing pedestrian.

"its not really a problem to wonder. So never mind me." He said. He didn't want this to become a disagreement over something like a personality.

Taking the number Victor wrote on paper, Nova looked at it. That was one long number. Momentarily confused as to what the number could mean, she realised it was probably his phone number. But the only phones she had access to were pay phones around the place. It was then she decided to buy herself a phone with some of the spending money she received upon arrival to the academy. It was supposed to be for things like this.

Then she sighed. If she used up all of her money, she would have to find a part-time job! Realising she had gone way off track, Nova smile gratefully and said, "Thankyou. I will call it when I can." What sort of phone would she buy? She was sure some kind of shop would sell one.

"Yes, I will do that. And... is it okay if I call you if I want to try something new? Like, as a friend?" That probably sounded stupid, she thought, but she had no idea how to rephrase it. In truth, she wanted to see him again. This should not be the only time. "And if you want to talk to someone for longer than two minutes, I will be here," she said with a smile.

Nova nodded when he said it was okay. Then, he did something unexpected. He threw a snowball, but not at her. It hit someone walking past, a solid guy, at least a high school senior. "Hey! That hit me!" he yelled, staring their way. Nova gasped. She ran over to where the guy was standing, unsure whether he was hurt.

"I am so sorry! We did not mean to hit you!" But the guy was overall unimpressed by the apology. He gripped one of her shoulders, staring at her aggressively. "You have made a mistake, little girl," he snarled, pulling his fist back to punch her.

"Victor! Help me!" she shouted, bracing herself for impact and trying to twist away from the guy.

Watching as she took the note with his number on it, he realised that she might not even have a phone. But it appeared she did, as she answered without worry. that is one problem down, at least.

"Yeah, its okay if you call me, and I'll find you for conversation." He entered the Conversation to give a warning, but hey, new friend! It would be good to have someone to talk too.

His Aim couldn't have been that bad, but it was. It hit another student, maybe a fire mage of some sort, as it melted upon contact, drenching his entire arm. The Guy almost exploded with anger, and grabbed Nova roughly.

Victor tried to talk calmly to the guy. He was about the same age, being both 12th graders, But the other guy was at least 7 feet and pure muscle as compared to Victors 5'2" wiry frame.

"Excuse me, Excuse me sir, Excuse m-" He said, tapping his arm and trying to get the guys attention, but it didn't work. He just shifted his arm and knocked Victor over.

On his backside in the snow, Victor saw the guy pull back his arm and Nova tense and try to escape. This was all his fault. He threw the snowball. All Nova did was apologise, and was caught in his crossfire.

All his fault
All his fault
All his fault
All his fault

Something in Victors head just clicked, and everything slowed down. Without intentionally doing so, he had activated his power at 53%. And he knew hat he had to do.
He walked up to the Bully, with the fist slowly making its way to Nova, and was barely an inch from her face. He was just in time.

According to physics, the energy of an object is equal to its mass times its speed in seconds. This meant that he had equal energy to a truck at almost 100 km/h.and it had to go somewhere. He put himself between Nova and the guy, and pushed the arm holding nova upwards. might've broken a finger or two in the process. Now that he was no longer holing Nova, Victor pushed him over.

At this point, his anger dissipated, and his knees crumpled. Time returned to normal. The other guy just sat there with two broken fingers. He was almost unfazed but for the fact he was dropped by a skinny guy two feet shorter.

Victor on the other hand.Newtons third law. He had been given the exact same amount of force he had given the other guy, but he was less accustomed to it. there were bruises all across his palms and his Right arm was purple and at a weird angle from the push. It hurt a lot, but Victor barely winced when he touched it.

Well, at least he got hurt, not Nova.
