golden wire owl mask

Her red eyes scanned the crowd of people. She had went through great care to hide all the features that would give her away. Her ears, her hair was washed of all color and she had gotten red contacts. She wasn't going to make finding her easy, there was also the problem of her heart racing. It was a toss up why she was actually there. Yes she knew it was her idea, knew that she had asked, but part of her was hoping he wouldn't find her. She didn't have answer for whatever if was that was happening between them. At least the first time they had it met, it was completely by accident. She didn't want to think about things she didn't understand. The reasons why she didn't just try and fix the mistake she had made...did she enjoy his company?

Normally there would reason, and try as she might the one reason she could possibly have for asking him to the stupid ball was something she rather not think about. It was simple, scanning the room for someone who looked like her friend. She was counting on him standing out but she guessed he had decided to blend in. She herself could never really find it in her to blend in. She had to be heard, seen, talked about, and remembered.

She wondered if that being friends n meant they now meant they forgot each other later. She made her way to the bowl of punch her white gloves carefully pouring a cup of punch for herself. The dress itself was a bit odd, she had researched masquerade balls and then made something accordingly.

Marina Bellamy

Marina sighed. "Look, you stupid idiot, I-I know this won't fix anything because the damage has been done, but would you rather spend your time rotting in juvie island?"

Her argument was cut short when Evan began to apologize. Marina toned it down, not wanting to argue with him of all people.

She was, after all, grateful.

That was it.

She continued to dance with him around the ballroom. Almost all eyes were on them, but they weren't hearing this, and that was what mattered. Marina's eyes glittered briefly with a sort of unexpected hope at the sudden turn of Evan's words, but that was immediately put out after he corrected himself.

Right then.

"You're a pain in my ass," she said plainly. "But I'll get your paper back. I promise."

Gold mask with bronze filigree

She couldn't find any one that she knew easily or they could just not be here yet she thought as she reached the refreshment table. Her dress was very form fitting and had great swaths of skin exposed from a large leg slit over the outside of her left leg to exposing her midriff yet the dress still looked elegant and belonged on her.

The stars twinkled as she picked up a drink in her right hand and when she brought the cup up to the mask it rippled and remolded itself to a half mask revealing ruby red lips. Cautious at first Kaya took a sip of punch, it wasn't spiked or even based with liquor. So she drank it slowly and she could feel a lot of eyes on her standing there.

A lot of those stares were from those she had rejected dances from. Most of the people that had asked her to dance she felt didn't have any real... Spark to their personality and so did not see the point in a frivolous dance that didn't mean anything. So she stood there with a couple other groupings of people who didn't seem to care to pay attention to her... Kaya didn't really mind, she just wished some one she knew would show up soon. Taking another sip of her drink as she thought to herself.

She wasn't up for anything. But, a knowing smile crossed her lips, too bad nobody would see it for even her lips were covered.

"Well now. The night is too wonderful for you to spend just by drowning in punch." Her voice was modulated low and smooth. She was doing it on purpose, one to fit her whole outfit, and two because nobody would recognize her voice that way.

"I suppose... I do not dance because it's scary." She muttered, closing her eyes for a moment. 'Scary' was the best word that can summarize what she felt. "Staying in the corner feels much more comfortable to me. Just... Just watching and all." And then she turned her gaze to the man before her. "But I don't want to watch a man such as you to be drinking punch all night," she added, laughing softly, almost quietly, her bare shoulders slightly shaking despite her attempt not to move too much.

"Your eyes will dull if you work too hard. At least sleep on a decent bed."

At this point, the girl sounded like she's somehow already loosened up. Not completely. But she wasn't shooing the man away anymore. She even took his hand, now willing to be his company for a while.

"I'm not good at handling fear. But... I guess you'll be the one to suffer in case I end up dancing poorly, not me." Her purple eyes bore into his. They were slightly narrowed, due to the small smirk that lurked under her mask. "Do not blame me if I step on your toes. I simply refuse to let a sad scene happen by the punch bowl. Especially with someone who doesn't seem to fit in the picture."

She held onto his hand tighter. She noticed the ring, but paid no mind to it despite its capability to rouse her curiosity.

She adjusted her mask carefully and smiled at The Silver Maiden. "I, um, I made it myself." The hesitation in admitting such a thing made it clear that this was a talent she had never shared with anyone else.

"It took me a very long time--"

She cut herself off as a man with a bird's mask approached the two of them, and extended his hand to her. Her heart raced a little, and her cheeks were dusted red. One hand lifted her dressfor her to take a step forward, and the other hand lay on his, smiling softly.

"I would love a dance, sir."

Another muffled laugh. "Maybe that's my power. Blending in."

As they he moved them slowly around the dance floor, pretending not to notice his partner's mistakes, he pulled away to give the White Masked woman a spin, before pulling her close again. Beneath his mask, he was smiling, not that she would know.

He was enjoying himself more than he thought he would.

"You're doing fine," he said. "You'd probably make a good princess."

The young man chuckled quietly. It was unusual for him to be called sir, and he found it amusing. He did, however, wholeheartedly agree that he was dashing, and he would've said so if he wasn't waiting for his princess to answer him.

His gaze was completely fixed on her.

He thought she looked cute blushing. He wanted to fluster her more now, but he also wanted to dance with her. Perhaps he would get to do both.

He grinned when she stepped towards him.

"Ye look just like a princess," he said, too in awe to worry about hiding his accent. His hand closed around her's, and he lead her to the dance floor. His grin faltered slightly when he turned to face her.

He had never danced before.

The young man glanced at the other couples, and tried to mimic them. He hesitantly placed his other hand on her waist. A blush spread across his cheeks, but it was mostly hidden by his mask.

"I have no idea what I'm doing," he admitted. "Does the beautiful lady happen to know how to dance?"
