Name: Sábháilteacht
Alias: Tanya
Age: ~7800
Birthday: unknown
Gender: female
Species: forest spirit
Category: Citizen
Career: gardening & flower arrangements

Appearance Description: Tanya is a tall, willowy figure with wide antlers atop her head. Her long flowing hair is a tawny brown like a deer’s fur and reaches almost to her ankles, frequently woven with small flowers such as morning glories. Her skin is soft and smooth, with just enough hint of a tan to not be white. In place of human feet, Tanya has tawny brown fur starting below her knee, extending into black hooves. A small tuft of a deer tail rests at the end of her spine.

Tanya's eyes are a brilliant sapphire, framed by long lashes and underlined with freckles across her nose and cheeks. Her features are all rather small, making her seem rather younger than she is.

Tanya's clothing usually consists of dresses in a moss green colour - typically because they are made of moss however she does own a few dresses made from cotton so as not to disturb her customers. The moss dresses are intricately woven with wild flowers to create beautiful patterns.

At night, Tanya transforms into a silver furred irish elk. She stands 6.7 feet tall, her antlers branching out just over 8 feet wide. Her hooves don't leave any prints and her pelt shines with a faint glow like reflected moonlight in the dark. Occasionally she will have small flying night creatures perched on a branch of her antlers, however she rarely notices their presence.

Personality Description: Tanya's personality is like water. Gentle and smooth, but capable of a lot of destruction when disturbed. She has a calm and soothing nature, capable of taming the most dangerous of beasts with her touch. Of course, she hasn't tried taming the supernatural creatures of Manta Carlos but she's relatively certain it would work.

It requires something large to cause Tanya to wish ill on anyone. She understands that not everyone will get along, and that some creatures need meat to survive. Killing animals for food is understandable. Killing for sport is malicious and unforgivable. Conflicts between others she will ignore, so long as they don't endanger others.

Powers: N/A

Species Abilities:
  • Many Trees: As a forest spirit, she can cast a spell to conjoin forests together with something of an invisible portal for a breif moment to travel between them. The two forests cannot be separated by more than 65 kilometers of open land or water between trees for the spell to work, and can only be used once every day. The further they are apart, the harder it is for the spell to be cast. There are no physical indications that the spell is active.
  • Evergreen: This spell will only work on growing plants. It speeds up the rate they mature at and lengthens the time that they bloom for. It will also hold the beauty of a flower long after they have been cut, making them last nearly three times as long as normal cuttings. Tanya usually casts this spell through song.
  • Language: Tanya has the ability to speak to and understand most mammals and birds. On occasion, if the tree is older than 500 years old she is able to speak to it, but most plants don't seem to speak.
  • Invisibility: As a spirit, Tanya has the ability to vanish from sight of humans, special or not. This doesn't affect other supernatural creatures, demons and etc, just humans.

Biography: Sábháilteacht was born a regular Irish elk doe. Her herd grazed in the north of Ireland, far from where humans usually travelled. As she grew, humans grew braver and followed them, hunting the herd for their meat, fur, and antlers. Sábháilteacht was highly alert, always grazing near the edge to protect her family from harm. One by one, her family would die, too many for the heard to naturally replenish. Her first son was killed by hunters, third daughter died of malnutrition in a bad growing season. Despite all her best efforts, Sábháilteacht could not keep everyone safe and alive.

Eventually, she was the only one left. She knew there were other herds out there, but it never occures to her that she had lived far past her prime. In her continued struggle for survival she came across a small pond, the crystal clear water seeming to beckon her closer. The doe drank the clear water and fell asleep at the edge. When Sábháilteacht awoke at sunset two weeks later, she found that she had the body of a human, with the exception of her hooves and antlers. The sun lowered as she stared at her reflection, and she began to grow to full height, returning to her true form as an elk. Astounded with her silver fur, Sábháilteacht left the pond and searched for a cause. The doe barely noticed how animals and trees would speak to her, and how she answered back in a silken voice.

Will O’ the Wisps lead her to a small cottage in the middle of a meadow, empty and decaying. Sábháilteacht took up residence there, protecting the spring that had given her power and the inhabitants of the forest. She drank tea with elves and fae, danced with nymphs and dryads, and dined with forest creatures. The forest slowly shrunk despite efforts to keep humans away. She didn't know how long she had protected the forest but she knew that it was a futile effort when they finally found and destroyed the pond.
Sábháilteacht abandoned what little of the forest was left and seeked new shelter for those who survived with her. After nearly half a century of searching, Sábháilteacht received a letter from Manta Carlos.
