Painting Music (Miya/Eve)

Miya was lost in her own little world. Her music would draw her to stories painting in her mind. Each song she wrote had that effect and would begin a new story for her to play. This time it was a reminder of her status as an orphan, technically. She came to Starlight after her accident and never had any other parents since. Just adults who looked after her.

While playing Miya was in such a trance that she didn't even feel a tear running down her face until Deith called out. This broke the trance and she paused for a moment. Eve's voice following his made her brush away the tear. Maybe she should take it easier and not focus so much while playing. The buzzing noise in her head was a clear sign of that.

"Alright. I guess with the head injury I shouldn't strain my eyes and brain, huh? I'll take a small break then. Want me to keep sitting here? I got water in my bag so I can relax on the bench for a few minutes."

While speaking she was reaching into her backpack and grabbed her special thermos. It was designed to keep the contents cold so when Miya drank it the water inside would come out as cold as ice water. She glanced over at Deith and was curious about his opinion.

"Enjoying the music?"

The relief washed Eve's anxious look away like fresh water, letting her back a smile. She nodded, before continuing to paint. "You can stay where you are. Just rest a little. Close your eyes if you must." Her face was like a gentle sunrise because of Miya.

Deith uncrossed his arms from in front of his chest. And then he pulled a wooden chair from a corner, carried it to Miya and placed it beside her, before taking a seat there. Of course, he was the only one who could really see where the room's corners were, as the other two still saw his illusions. "Eve, I hope you don't mind me joining Miya here."

"It's okay, but don't forget about what we talked about," the painter responded, though she didn't stop her strokes and her focus didn't waver.

"Yes, Ma'am." With a content smile, Deith once again turned to Miya. His eyes momentarily regarded the piano but they went back to her anyway. "You're great, really. The music is... also really wonderful. Where did you learn how to play?"

Miya nodded towards Eve, closing the lid on the piano keys while laying her head down on her arms. Resting her eyes might help too. It had been a while since she was actually injured and it prevented her from playing for too long. She started to think at her luck over the past week and was happy with it.

Miya's head picked up when Deith came over and sat next to her. What did Eve mean by what they talked about? Must be something she didn't have to concern herself with. Or just something else that Miya might have thrown a fireball at otherwise. She could still do that after all. He wanted to know where she learned? Miya sat up a bit so she didn't feel rude about it.

"Learn to play? When I was five. I loved the sound of Mozart and soft jazz when I was in the crib. I started hitting random keys on my adoptive parent's keyboard. Before they yelled at me for playing with it I was playing a melody from one of the tracks they left playing. It's been my favorite past time ever since. The composing and skill just came as I got older. So....I guess the answer is I'm mostly self taught. Coming to Starlight helped improve that a bit as the teachers here are, well, awesome. So, what about you? What do you do here besides being a mobile green screen?"

Deith also tried to hit random keys, and although they turned out fine, they sounded rather dark and lonely, and even if he tried to change it, he will just fail repeatedly. So he stopped. And kept his hands to himself.

"Quite a gift you have if you're really self-taught," he said. He thought she was interesting, and if he and Eve hadn't talked about Miya being off-limits, this would've gotten Eve worried. But because they did have such a conversation, Eve just kept working on her painting, not wanting anything to ruin her drive.

"'Mobile green screen,' huh..? That's an odd way to put it," he mumbled, his eyes trailing upwards to the made-up gray sky as he thoughtfully stroked his chin. "I'm just here to assist Eve how ever she needs me. But I won't call this—" he gestured to their surroundings, "--a mere green screen. Green screens can't affect other senses aside from the eyes, right? But I can." Suddenly, a strong breeze came to them. Even though the windows of the actual music room was closed, and Deith can guarantee that it didn't come from anywhere. But it felt real. The wind would caress their cheeks tenderly, rake through their hair and appreciate their silkiness. But really, it was just a part of Deith's illusions.

"One more reason I'm here is that I just really wanted to tag along and meet the girl that Eve Willows has become quite obsessed with," he added with snicker, to which Eve growled, yes growled.

She's lost her focus, flustered and guilty at Deith's remark. She paused, turning to the two from behind the canvas with a strangely red face, a huge frown, and furrowed eyebrows. "Sh-Shut up, Deith! I wasn't obsessed! Just... Just excited. Alright? Right! Excited! That's all! Now stop it, would you? Let me paint in peace!" She tried to look at Miya, but she was too embarrassed to keep up a stare, and so she turned back to the canvas, and attempted to resume painting.

"Why, uhh, thank you," A blush ran across Miya's face. Compliments weren't exactly her forte. She didn't know how to accept them most of the time outside of just saying thank you. Miya hide most of her face behind her hair to avoid letting Deith see her blushing.

The sudden breeze took her by surprise. Miya looked around, but then settled that it was part of Deith's powers. It was really cool. Nothing as simple as just a girl who can throw fireballs. Or set things on fire with just her body heat alone. Think about her body heat Miya began tracing the air around her with random gibberish with a light blue hue in the air. She didn't have to worry about them for a long while. Could never be too careful.

Miya put her hand over her mouth to muffle her laughter as Deith teased Eve. She said it once and she would say it again. These two were really adorable, especially with the way Eve was trying to hide the face she was "excited" to come here and paint Miya playing. This caused Miya to blush more to the point a small amount of heat was escaping from under her coat.

"Umm...Well... I...Were you that excited? I mean...That's really awesome. You know how to make a girl feel loved, ya know? Umm...I'll...New piece new piece...."

Now Miya had overly embarrassed herself. Quickly brushing her hair behind her head, her blush now visible and didn't register in Miya's mind at all, she quickly began going through her bag for another piece to play as more heat began to escape from her. Luckily all her sheet music was custom made of fire proof material so she didn't have to worry about it going up in flames. Along with the back up after back up she had back in her room.

Miya found a piece. While it wasn't her primary instrument, Miya knew how to play quite a lot of stringed instruments. However she didn't grab one out and that was a problem. She also figured she wouldn't find her way through Deith's powers to find what she needed. Miya began to tie her hair back as she another piece up on the piano. Stringed instruments would be another time.

"Alright. Onto the next one."

Hey hands lined up and Miya let out a deep breath. The piano became an image in her mind as her hands began to move across the keyboard, as if they had a mind of their own.

Miya couldn't escape from Deith's eyes though. He knew she was blushing. He didn't push her, but he snickered to let her know that he knew, and that he was finding it amusing. Eve, on the other hand, was grumbling behind the canvas, mostly complaining why Deith had to be such a jerk who loved messing with her.

The new piece drowned out all that. Deith settled and gladly listened to the dark music. Their surroundings darkened as the sounds did.

Eve got back her focus because of the piano, and she was back to painting the flames surrounding Miya in the canvas. She was exceptionally working fast. She only had to deal with the smaller details, and she'll be done.

Neither decided to speak while Miya played. If there was one thing Eve and Deith would agree on, it would be that Miya's playing was great.

Miya heard the snicker, but had gotten lost in her world before it managed to effect her. Her trance like state she got sometimes while playing piano made avoiding things like that so easy. As she finished up one piece she immediately went into the next one without pause. Her foot even turned to the right track. She went from dark to another rather dark piece. It was one she had heard online and tried making her own cover of it.

"This is a piece I've only played twice. How it doesn't sound too bad for you two. New at that as well."

The fire Eve was painting behind Miya on her canvas? Well as Miya started playing and the notes started to take a dramatic turn two flames began to rise from behind Miya. At first they were wild and moving about dangerously. However Miya's eyes had dimmed causing the flames to slowly start dancing together. Two figures formed, one obviously looking like Miya as the "hair" was extremely long while the other was unknown. The gender wasn't even able to be seen. A slow dance that got wild during certain key parts and slowing down into a slow dance during others.

Miya herself had no idea this was even happening.

Eve paused. And Deith definitely had no other choice but to scramble away from Miya, since he didn't want to be hit by those flames. Those REAL flames. The two exchanged glances, before deciding to keep still and watch. Deith retreated to Eve's side, and Eve took a few seconds before deciding to include the dancing figures to her painting. They added to the beauty and mystique of the portrait, after all.

"Pretty," Deith muttered, crossing his arms. His eyes were still fixed on the dancing flames, and part of him wanted to join them. Of course the more logical part of him said he was going to burn if he ever tried, and he wouldn't die from it and would just suffer feeling the intense pain. "Eve, wanna dance?"

"No, I'm painting." Eve was still seriously focused on the portrait though.

The scrambling of feet didn't register in her mind as she played. She was immersed into her memories at this point. Her mind took her back to that day as the music played. She saw the wreck scene in her mind, her parents unmoving. As she began to imagine this her played began to slowly suffer and become off key.

The flames behind her formed into a part of the memory as Miya came out of her trance hearing the off key, seeing a strange light on the piano. Miya tilted her head up and saw her flames. She at first panicked at seeing them, which the image turned into a burning figure that quickly became more ferocious. The fire dissipated as Miya swatted the image multiple times to make it disappear. With the flames gone Miya looked back at the piano, only to hide her face in her arms.

"How....Did that even....Why that of all things...."

Her muffled voice was almost on the verge of tears. She had no idea how that even happened, or why that vision even showed. She didn't want people knowing or even seeing that. Just seeing the image could make people wonder. Miya remembered telling Eve about her....Accident and about the condition of her skin from her own flames. It could be seen as that happening.

Even while trying to remove the memory, she began to cry. Sniffles could be heard as Miya wept over the parents she lost that day. Those who nurtured and promoted her love of music. The Piano.

The look on Deith's face changed when the figures in the fire started changing. A frown strained his face, figuring that something was going on. He tugged on Eve's sleeve, rather violently; fortunately it wasn't the arm handling the brush.

"What?" the painter snarled, throwing Deith a dagger-like look. But Deith quickly pointed to the fire, and Eve realized that it was probably time to stop painting.

"Miya!"

The girl turned around and swatted the flames away. Eve instinctively ran to her to give her a hug, seeing that it must have been a painful memory that surfaced. She knew about Miya's scars and she didn't want them to keep hurting her.

"I'm sorry, dear..." she whispered, hugging her from behind. She was careful not to hit or touch Miya's injury. "That must've been... hard on you. Are you okay..?" Lame question to ask to a crying girl, but it was all she knew she could ask.
