Old Money

The Paltiel family, currently headed by Ignatius, is old money. Like, super old money. They're also one of the few old families that have actually lived on the islands for a few generations, rather than being a recent import.

That said, they're not the only one, so it makes sense that there'd be a family or two that they're 'old family friends with'. The kind of families where the parents would get together and stick the kids in a room to 'play' while they sip drinks by the pool.

Ideally at least one of these families would have someone around 40ish, to be Ignatius's contemporary, but a bit younger or older is fine too.

Heck ya that works perfectly. Both old money, both born and raised on the island. They might have shared a few classes and probably got dropped in together at rich people parties growing up.

Ignatius didn't date much (read: at all) growing up, and by the time he started really dating he was basically universally dating under his age, so they never would have had that brief-dating-awkwardness that so often comes with people in their situation.

Plus they're both gay, even if Ignatius is not at the point of admitting it.

Ignatius is probably pretty sore about the whole kids things, and I imagine he came over a bit less when the kids were born (probably 'didn't want to take up her time when she was so busy'), and was more social after they were more grown up/started doing their own thing.

Maybe a thread with them, with either her coming over for drinks or him coming over for whatever?

Michael is a bit younger than Ignatius, but he did grow up to be a doctor, which is respectable enough.

Sorry, bit of confusion there - I should have clarified. I'm looking for old money characters. Basically, aristocrats in a country with no aristocracy (or who have moved away from their countries). Grant didn't grow up rich/super upper class, so he really wouldn't be old money even if he's both old and has money.
