With a lot of work and permission from his boss at Paranormal Critters Adoption Center, where he volunteered, Milo was hosting a pet adoption fair at Starlight in the courtyard today. It was partly to advertise for his Student Council running, but mostly an excuse to get the animals new homes and gather more donations for their wellbeing.

There were a few tents set up with animals in nice containers or gated areas, as well as some cuties that wouldn't wander off too far relaxing on the lawn and exploring. Everything had supervision from him and a few helpers so they wouldn't be getting hurt, and there was a sped up adoption process offered so visitors could leave with their new companion right away if they wanted to. There was a box for donations to the center with ribbons and stickers on it, and a little pamphlet with information on what the money would go towards.

It was a nice day. The area was decorated well, pleasant to be in, and there were even snacks and cakes offered at one table. Milo sat relaxed in the grass with several kittens in his lap, chatting with anyone around when he could, on both the subject of adorable little furballs and his ambitions for the council with equal amounts of passion. He may or may not have been wearing a fluffy pink scarf with a bunny pattern on it, and doodling the animals in a little notebook.

ooc: Posting order based on who you're interacting with only, no set animals to adopt, go ahead and make up whatever you'd like to take home or pet

Maddie sat on one side of Milo with her mix-breed dog, Bandit, while Vinanye sat on his other side. Maddie was engaging with the more canine animals of the group, playing tug of war with a few of the puppies as Bandit panted and wagged his tail at any animals that came near him. He licked one of the animals' nose.

Vinanye wasn't interacting with the animals quite as much. Instead, he had a box full of gems and gave one to anyone who came to speak with Milo or adopt one of the animals. Sometimes, Vinnie would let the person pick the gem themselves, but more often than now, he gave one of the gems he felt matched the person in personality or demeanor.

"This is very interesting," Vin said, struggling a bit with the final word. It was a little more complex than he was used to, but he was learning. "I have never seen something like this! I thought it would be much bloody, but I was wrong!"

Milo smiled at Vinanye, oddly amused by the statement. Vin was good to have here, despite, or even because of the quirks. His comforting presence was fantastic, as was his friendly, enthusiastic demeanor. It fit well with what Milo was doing here.

"I'm glad you're enjoying it. And no, these elections really aren't the same as the kind you may be more familiar with. Definitely nothing bloody in my work. Just soft and genuine." However, his fiance's campaign was a different case. He was in love with a menace. He scrunched his nose very briefly in quiet exasperation before quickly going back to his relaxed state, brushing it off. This wasn't the time to worry about that, as he had his own goals to further. It was especially important with the other things going on, in fact, and he'd already been passionate about getting president and all the good he could do there.

"Are you starting to understand how things work, do you think? Let me know if you want anything explained, and I'll do my best. Learning through experience helps, at least."

Vinnie listened to Milo, trying to understand just as fully as the other Fae seemed to. No, Vinanye didn't get it, but that was all right. He wouldn't pretend, but he wasn't overly disturbed by his lack of understanding, either.

After large events like these, where he had to speak to people for long periods of time, he was tired. He never got tired back home, but when he was home, he understood things and wasn't struggling to catch up to everything he heard.

Under his breath and in the language so common to Underhill, Vinnie said, "[Mercy Mother.]" He breathed in slowly, keeping his smile. It was a warm day, and he could hear birds in the distance. "Yes. Every day it is more simple. I still struggle with the words." Vin frowned, knowing the sentence was off, but not how to correct it. "I am glad to have you near."

Milo peered at Vin. "I'd really like to learn your language, too, you know. I'm not sure if it'll feel natural or not, don't wanna get my hopes up, but even if it's slow and frustrating, it doesn't matter, I want to. Will you help?" He hummed at the rather affectionate words, letting them warm him just as much as the sun and animals did, a tinier but more meaningful smile on his face. He rubbed Vin's shoulder reassuringly.

Milo looked to Maddie on his other side, who was overrun by puppies and even a few foxes, snickering. He almost felt like a kid with this lighthearted scene going on, but he was of course, a college student, and he was running this event. It all felt great. "How about you, Mads, how're you doing? Do you need a rescue? I can barely see you through all the fur, wagging tails, and cute wet noses."

Murphy blinked grimly in the courtyard and tried to glare at the sun. Alas, it was far too sunny and pleasant to brood properly, doubly so as he noticed a small puppy bumble its way into his ankle. Annoyance gave way to befuddlement as the tiny creature looked up at him, gave a tiny bark and began viciously attacking his pant leg.

Looking about it finally occurred to him that something was going on here today, some sort of adoption fair if the banner was anything to go by. With a smooth motion he grabbed the rambunctious critter which immediately began chewing his sleeve and made his way over to the stand set up amidst a handful of frolicking little animals. "Excuse me, but I believe one of your little ones managed to escape."

Vinnie's entire face lit up at the idea of teaching Milo the language of the Fae. There was plenty Vin could have said about it right then, but they were at an event, and Vin had always been taught derailment was improper.

"Yes! It is much more simple than this," Vinanye motioned to his mouth as he said this, suggesting the language he spoke now. Communication with the Gem could be confusing at times, for certain.

Maddie popped up from the pile of puppies and foxes, having transformed into her coyote self. She had tried not to, for she didn't want to confuse the people coming to adopt, but the enthusiasm had a way of making her sprout fur and bark. Who knew? She yipped, wagging her tail and snorting with a shake of her head, just as one of the foxes jumped and nipped her ear. Bandit had since joined in the fun, running back and forth in a pseudo game of tag with some of the puppies.

Vin stood as someone approached them, already he was shoving his hand in his pocket in search of something. He tried not to break eye contact too much when he glanced down at a few of the gemstones he pulled out.

"Much thanks, friend!"
