He was a bit nervous and all, excited too not knowing who anyone was he'd hope he didn't meet anyone on his bad side. But it was a time to feel good and dance he should just let go. So that is exactly what he did, taking a few deep breaths he shuffled his way to the dance floor starting with a few spins just to take in the atmosphere around him. The colors, the smell, and over all theme were all wonderful to him.

As he spun he let out a bit of a giggle since he was enjoying him self, it reminded him of home somehow. "what a night" he whispered to him self under his breath as he began to sway his hands back and forth. It wasn't the best of dances but it could probably pass during this occasion. So there he danced slowly letting out more laughs now and again

"Ah yes, this island is good about that, equality," it was wonderful seeing such a society. "I'm happy both you and your brother found your way here," he knew what it was like, having to hide what you are.

"Yes I do," he returned her grin with his own, "family is part of the reason I'm here as well, I have a large family," he chuckled a little. "They drive you mad, worry you to death but in the end, there still family," his smile never left his face as they continued, their movements matching the music, "it is nice though, getting out for the evening, away from all that."

She was beautiful, a gorgeous girl, "but what about you?" he asked as their dance shifted into a slower one to match the music. "Your brother might have been your original motive for coming, but you must have found a place here, friends, a job, school, what is it that you like to do?"

He stood there, not quite in the spirit of the masquerade. Of course, perhaps it wasn’t much his fault. The only form of hiding his identity (which, of course, was the main contributor to the excitement of the event) was the well-made yet visably handmade mask lying on his face, with only his eyes visible.

The rest of him, however, was a dead tell to who he was. To start, he was quite small. Small animal ears peeped out from under his mask. A tail swished in short movements not far from the floor.

Whatever the case, anonymous or not, he stood there in the Masquerade Ball. His eyes sweeped the guests with a hint of curiosity. While doubtful he would get in on any action, it was interesting to look around at the people enjoying themselves.

He was having fun, in his own strange way.

Aiden Hart finished his punch and started to wander through the masquerade ball.

The punch wasn't spiked, for which he was glad, but he found himself thinking that it might be easier to tolerate the whole spectacle if he had been a little bit inebriated. There was something about this time of year that made the young doctor wistful. It was coming up on over five years since his wife had disappeared, but Aiden kept expecting her to show up.

It was all the masks, he thought, that made him think she could be here. He kept hoping that she'd walk up and tug on the back of his arm, and ask, 'Would you dance with me? it's not even that I want to dance, but I mean, it'd be stupid not to, because we're at a dance.'

He couldn't help himself. He stole another glance around the room.

But of course, she wouldn't be here.

Aiden had enough.

He took himself out into the courtyard to look at the moon.

"Oh, I did," the woman admitted casually. "Manta Carlos has some of the best design ideas I've ever seen! And the bakeries here are amazing. Magical. That's some of my reasons for staying here." She shifted her pace to match the next song, a slower tempo - is that what it was called? A tempo? "My brother really likes the coffee here, for some reason. I don't understand why he drinks it - he's hyper all by himself."
A sigh, before she continued. Her heels were really getting a bit sore - she should have brought along her dancing flats. Nevertheless, she didn't want to be rude and abandon this guy for a drink. So, she put up with it for a little longer. "Oh. I don't have a job yet, but i do have university here. Cosmetology is, as predicted - absolutely fabulous."
All this dancing was making her legs a little tired, so she stopped briefly. "Excuse my asking, but I should probably rest, before these heels of mine break." A lithe little chuckle.

Laughter let out a nearby, grabbing her attention. It seemed like someone was out having a better time than her and it was making her curious. Going even a few feet would be, well a feat, especially with her outrageously poofy dress. On the bright side people moved out of the way for her, not wanting to be swallowed into the cotton candy void. Her heels still clicked with each step she took, but were muted down by the music.

It wasn't long before she caught up to the dancing person. " I know, right?" She replied, in a thick accent of sorts. Her heels shuffled beneath her skirt as she extended a hand. "Mind if I take this dance?" She asked, not the least bit apprehensive, it was just a dance after all.

Charlene was not part of the party. Surely she would not even be allowed in the masquerade in the state she was in.

But she had heard of the party, and she had hoped…maybe, just maybe, the festivities would partially be outdoors. Maybe she could sneak in and steal some food from a table, or at the very least perhaps there would be some unfinished food in the garbage, or any scraps that had accidentally fallen on the ground. Just. Any food. At all.

But when she had found the location in the school where the party was being held, her hopes her dashed. Everyone was inside. She could not find any sort of dining set up outside. There were some balconies where a few of the attendees were spending time outside, but that was of no use to her. She could not possibly reach them if they had any food set out on them.

The dirty girl, her sweater getting torn up from daily wear and her hair covered in leaves and twigs from foraging in the woods, sat alone in some bushes where she could see through the windows. She felt defeated. Several days with no food, and she could see that massive table of food inside, but…she could not reach it.

In time, she found herself watching more than just the food table, but the ball itself. It reminded her of the parties of Fae. She had entertained at so many…and how she wished she were entertaining at one now in Underhill. At least she would be warm, and she could have some food.

She could not have missed Underhill more in that moment. It had never been a happy home, but…at least it was a familiar one.

He put his hand over the mouth that was on his mask and giggled followed by a nod. He put both hands behind his back and and tilted his head he'd never think anyone wanted to dance with him but he was happy now that it was the case. He took her hand and did a quick wink "Not at all my dear It would be my pleasure" he said giggling once again as he found the way he spoke cheesy and so far off from how he usually did. His tone was whimsical and sort of British but you could tell it wasn't his real voice, none the less it was a decent attempt.

" Might i add your hair looks rather wonderful. So what brings you here ma'dam" he said tilting his head once more as they began to dance. It was nice to have someone to finally talk to at least, better then sitting in the corner all night.

Hoofed woman in bunny mask and blue princess dress

Nobody saw the bottle of expensive wine disappear off the table.

The woman in the bunny mask was feeling pretty damn smug. She still had it. It was over a year since she had really been up to her thieving ways, and she still had the deft hands for it. That wine bottle hid perfectly in the lining of her dress—the shape completely obscured by the huge crinoline she wore.

She hated dressing all fancy pansty, but at least these stupid giant skirts had some worth.

But perhaps she was getting a bit too smug now. As she stepped away from the food table, aka the scene of the crime, she tried to slip with ease into the crowd—but had underestimated her skirt and found herself stumbling a bit as he brushed up against various individuals. She ended up fumbling a bit into a man.

“Oi! Watch—“ she nearly started spewing profanity, but quickly caught herself. No, she had to act like a dainty little princess here. So her voice became lighter, softer, like a sweet little bell, and her Scottish accent became much less brusk.

“M’terrible sorry, m’sir!” she said as she curtsied to the man.

Wheel-chair bound boy in a navy suit and crow mask

The young man wheeled himself with a touch of hesitation into the masquerade. His parents had taken him to smaller social functions as a kid, but…he’d never really experienced anything like this.

He had managed to save up enough from selling pot brownies and…some questionable contraband he snuck out of Spacecon to be able to rent a nice, navy-colored tuxedo. He felt pretty classy in it, not gonna lie.

He…felt sort of silly in the mask though. Come on, he was obviously Gareth no matter how much of his face he covered. There weren’t a ton of people in wheelchairs, missing three fingers, with dyed blue hair with obvious black roots showing. He was…pretty damn specific.

But he did wear a mask still—not to be anonymous, but to match his date. She wanted to wear one, so he did too.

God, he was on a date. He turned to the young lady beside him, and anxiety fluttered through his entire body.

Don’t fuck this up, Gareth, you idiot.

It was to her surprise that he took her up on the offer, but she hid it well even if her cheeks were slightly flushed, giving back the kind of eloquent smile that one might give if rejection was a nonexistent word in their vocabulary. Her fingers delicately slid up his shoulders, where they would perch while the two danced.

" Why, thank you." She giggled, as she was just as aware how nice it looked. " What brings me here?" She softly echoed, following his lead as they danced. The girl stayed silent for a few moments as they swayed. The clicking of her heels became less sporadic, tapping to the rhythm as she contemplated the right answer. " Well, I've never been to a masquerade ball before, I wanted to see if it was any different from a normal ball, especially when it's on Manta Carlos."

" Speaking of which, do you live here?" She queried. " Supposedly, this is one of the biggest events here on the island, some come just for this event, it's bizarre!"
