He laid both his hands on her sides, eyes locked with her's as they danced. He always enjoyed others smiles, he loved to make anyone enjoy them self in any sense, especially in his presence. He had never danced with anyone like this before and it was quite relaxing and the best part was he didn't seem to be messing up as he usually did with most things such as this.

You could tell he had been smiling the whole time as his eyes looked joyful."Its my first time too, this place screams atmosphere and i absolutely adore it. Autumn is my favorite season, to wear sweaters and have coffee with friends on a chill day. Oh dear everything is better on Manta Carlos, well most things at least i have come to find" he said and started to hum to the song that was playing until she asked him about living here.

"Ahh yes i'v been here for a long time and its been a wild ride, mostly bumpy in my case but i have only my self to blame" he said and chuckled as she called the event bizarre."Everything is bizarre here its Manta Carlos and that is what i love about it so much they welcome people from all around even people like me" he giggled slightly as he said the last part as if it was a joke.

Gareth's date wasn't exactly anonymous herself, even though her matching bird-faced mask covered her face. Maybe her red hair didn't stick out as much here as it might have in other places, and her black cocktail dress could've fit in at any party, but at 7' the girl towered over pretty much everyone.

Still, it was fun to pretend. She had been able to go out trick-or-treating as a kid, always closely supervised, but other than that she'd never gone to a costume party or anything like that. And although she had gone to plenty of parties since being on the island, the only fancy one had been at New Year's and wasn't a great memory.

Besides, there were other people that were wearing masks though they were recognizable, and - she'd never been on a date before. Hopefully, the mask would help her feel a little more confident, or at least hide the fact that she kept blushing every time she looked at Garreth.

The girl still got flustered over sex, and that was just sort of a natural thing like hunger. A craving. Easier to deal with than feelings. This seemed.... she didn't know, but she really didn't want to mess it up.

She opened her mouth to speak but hesitated. Should she get something to eat? Would that be rude? Usually, she could lose herself a bit in crowds, at parties, wherever. She was a little hungry, nothing new. But she was here with Gareth, trying to be more than her instincts.

She didn't know what to do.

Eek had no idea that there was a party going on at all. And even if someone had told him there was a masquerade, it was doubtful he'd even be able to pronounce that word let alone actually know what that meant. He'd just been attracted by the smells and bright lights as he'd been foraging around the school grounds.

He'd been told to go to the school for food after all, and as much as he liked their fruit cups and weird boxes that weren't fruit but had juice in them, the best bugs were still the fresh ones.

So the little baby-fae was up in a tree, in his usual outfit - an oversized shirt, a little dirty from climbing through the trees, though not overly so. And he was just looking for insects, every so often looking at the strangely dressed people in masks from afar because he didn't like crowds.

Then he saw an older girl not wearing a mask, and sitting in the bushes. She seemed kind of sad to the little fae. Since she looked alone, and he had nothing better to do, Eek decided to talk to her. He climbed through the tree until he was sitting on a low-hanging branch over the bush she was in.

"Hi... Why you sitting there?"

He was quite distracted whilst looking around. Not really paying attention to his surroundings; it wasn’t really too much of a surprise that someone bumped into him. Ignoring the obvious holding back of profanity, he spoke in his normal, light voice.

That’s quite alright. I apologize, I was not paying attention.

Though the thing that surprised him was being called a ‘sir’. Though perhaps it made sense: nobody could tell many features of others. His small stature probably wasn’t quite enough to determine that he was a child, a quite young one at that.

Giving a small bow to match the curtsey, he started up mild conversation.

It’s quite an interesting event here, no?

The night was young and she had gained some courage thanks to her recent encounters with people.
She still didn't understand what to wear so she simply wore a black swan mask, her clothes couldn't be far from simple, she wore a pitch black shirt and dark leggings, her purple eyes glowed brightly in the dim orange light as she walked around. She had seen a variety of people and heard their voices, some were older than your average student at the school but then again, this was a widely celebrated event.

She made her way over to the buffet table giving a look over the selection and looking lost.

She nodded along to his commentary about autumn, continuing following his lead as they danced. Though the mask she wore cast a stark shadow over her eyes, rendering them barely visible, the decorative ears of her mask stayed parallel to his as they moved about the ballroom.

Her smile faded briefly, upon the mention of everything being better in Manta Carlos. She was biting her tongue, figuratively, holding back on whatever she was about to say. For the night, the young girl was a completely different person, someone who did not have the same chip on their shoulder. Instead she just nodded again, the seemingly eloquent smile reappeared.

" People like you, hmm?" She repeated, a slightly amuse tone hid in her voice. Her head was tilted, underneath her mask she had raised an eyebrow. It was a absurdly rare occasion where her curiosity would not get the best of her, not planning on asking anything too personal so soon since half the fun of the event was the mystery behind the masks.

" Well, actually, I've been here for quite awhile too, " she informed him, " it is indeed a wonderful island, lots of diversity here." She let out a small sigh. " But, if I'm being honest, my stay here has been too chaotic for my tastes, but I suppose nothing would have changed anywhere else. I guess it's nice that the school here, there's not enough places for magic users to learn these days."

"I won't make any promises," he smiled as he lead her towards the crowd of dancers. The fact that she told him to lead worried him. What was he to do? Try and do the waltz, jive, breakdancing? Looking around, he tried to imitate what everyone else was doing.

"So, have you been on the island long?" he asked, trying to create small talk. Silences were uncomfortable. It was why he enjoyed being in a group: many people having something to say. When there was only two people in a conversation, especially when they had just met, it was harder to avoid the silences.

Diane sighed lightly as he tried to make small talk but continued talking nonetheless, the smile still on her face before she sighed lightly and stepped a few feet towards him, the music wasn't as loud as her club and some people were slow dancing around them so she took the initiative and put a hand on her waist sighing lightly, "I only recently came here yes. But I've already been able to make a name for myself in certain circles of the island," She said giving a smile before giving a small laugh as she tried to make them slow dance.

Charlene was startled when she suddenly heard a voice, ready to jump up and run. She feared she had been found by a party-goer and was moments away from getting beaten for peeking into a party she had no part of.

But then she saw Eek in the tree. A little Fae boy…Charlene was still tense, but she did not run. She could not run from a Fae.

“Sir, I am…” she paused, considering her words. She had been trained to call even the youngest Fae children ‘sir’ and ‘madam’. All Fae were superior to her, after all, even the smallest and youngest of them.

“I had hoped to find food here,” Charlene admitted, lowering her head to show a certain amount of shame in her actions.

“I should have known better—that the food here would not be available to someone of my low status. I am embarrassed to have even tried.”

He noticed the smile fade and wondered if he had said something wrong, yet he brushed it off since he didn’t believe that he did. Perhaps she didn’t see Manta Carlos as he did or maybe she just had bad experiences like him to change her veiws. Nonetheless her smiled had seemingly returned so he didn’t have to worry, after all tonight was one of enjoyment and he wouldn’t let some silly frown ruin the whole event for him, that would be absurd.

He could tell she was curious and who wouldn’t be, he might as well explain him self.”Mmm people like me, it was a play on my social status or at least my older standing. You see i used to isolate my self, until i broke out of my shell and saw the wonderful world around me. It’s events like these that remind me why i did so my dear. But tonight that person is taking a backseat for now ill just be the jester enjoying others laughter and smiles” He said and closed his eyes for a moment making it look as if the mask was smiling humbly.

He listened closely as his feet shifted and body moved to the music with her, he actually agreed with what she was saying and nodded many times since these problems were apart of his life to in a sense, the difference was he enjoyed the chaos part.”I agree with you it is quite hectic around here but i’ve learnt to enjoy it quite a bit and don’t even get me started on all the magic stuff. It’s hard to find a safe place to practice my arts without it being crowded and such.” He said realizing that all the talk about problems might lower the mood a bit, but he wasn’t going to let it drop like that.

“But right now the only magic i care about is the magic in the air tonight” he said in a rather bold tone. He stopped for a second and laughed.”Sorry that was way cheesy” he said in his normal voice with a big dumb grin on his face.”It’s things like these that keep me sane these days my darling, the power of laughter” he said back to the acented voice.
