"Hm? Oh, yeah, my grandmother used to sing that song to us when we were young. It's about sheep. Most of the songs back in the village were about sheep and snow, actually."

In retrospect, the Village was actually boring as fuck. They didn't have any of the niceties here in Manta Carlos, but they had love and a strong sense of community. It was enough to be homesick to.

Lei was almost done with the chicken. He just needed to fry a couple more parts.

"I like the village, but even there, I didn't actually..." He bit his lip. "...have a lot of... friends.. So... this is good for me. I mean... We're friends, right? Unless I mistook this whole thing for something else."

Deith was also just waiting for the last batch. He was still turned away, trying to clear his mind so that they could both avoid getting into something unpleasant. "Yeah, we're friends," he replied.

He only turned around again after setting the plate on the table. His composure already back. He stepped closer, taking a look at the chicken, and then smiled at Lei. "To be honest, even I don't have many of them. All my friends can be counted with my two hands. And in this island... there's only two of you..."

He grinned as he finished up frying the chicken. "Well, that settles it then. Now, let's —" Cough. "— uh, get to setting up the table before we start crying and hugging."

Lei placed the chicken and the pseudo-salad at the middle of the table. He looked over at Deith. "Where are your plates?" he asked, looking at places where plates would not be commonly found.

Deith was already preparing the plates then, though. He got them from the cabinets still, since that's the only place he could store them, after all. He also took some silverware if ever Lei wanted to use some. Not that it was necessary on their meal. "Just so you know, Lei," he spoke as he moved and set the table up. He grinned. "There's no way I'll cry in front of you. Nor anybody else. I'm not lame like that. Okay?"

Lei shook his head, amused, and sat down. He flipped his hair out of the way before taking a handful of chicken, vegetables and toast. "All right, Mr. Cool Guy, you've made your point. Our friendship will be the 'manly' kind. We'll drink beer and give stoic nods and occasionally pat each other on the shoulder, but no touchy-feely girly crap." A pause. "Except no beer for me. I don't break the law and I'm not planning on starting any time soon."

"Pfft." Laughter. Deith couldn't hold it in, having been just as amused at Lei as the latter was at him. He shook his head and slowly calmed down, but his shoulders still slightly shook, even as he served himself with food.

Ah, food. Human food.

Deith wasn't going to get back the energy he used with the illusion through this; rather it was just a treat for his tongue. Shrugging to himself, he started to eat the chicken and the vegetables. "Hm. It's good," he said. "I haven't eaten meat in a while."

Lei raised an eyebrow and pointed at the freezer with his thumb. "There's a whole meat circus in your fridge. Why do you have so much meat stockpiled if you don't eat them?" He snorted. "Unless that's a euphemism."

Lei turned the chicken, vegetables and toast into sandwiches and ate them that way. To him, bread was nothing but the poor man's rice.

"Friend piled it up there four days ago. She said I'm eating too much cake. Said I'm hoarding all pastries in her favorite cafés." Deith chuckled and shrugged once more. "I guess it can also be a euphemism... It depends, on what for."

It was a euphemism for Deith eating big d — Never mind. Lei grinned, though.

"I'd never have figured you're a sweets man. I bet you like those cute rainbow colored cupcakes, huh, Mr. Cool Guy?"

Still... He wanted to thank Deith for his help today. He made a mental note of this. Maybe he could stop by one of the bakeries and ask them for a big cake. It would be a hoot to watch Deith devour an entire cake.

"Eh. Why not? They look like edible paintings." Deith continued to eat. Great. It was making him want to go to town and buy some pastries again. He sighed, feeling a little down realizing he couldn't, though it was okay, he kept his smile, because Lei's cooking was also good. He glanced up, only to see Lei's grin. His smile dropped. "What? Why the grin?" He furrowed his brows. "Hey don't you dare make fun of me, alright?"
