Practice makes perfect.
Lei doesn't have his mentor anymore, but that doesn't mean he's going to degenerate into worthless piece of shit. He attempted to hone his power everyday, usually at the pool, but the swim team seemed to have annexed that location with their washboard abs and hoards of fans indefinitely. Damn those perfectly sculpted monsters.
Therefore, Lei had no choice but to go to the beach after class and change into his silver swimming trunks, forced to practice at the ocean like a goddamn animal. Like most things, Lei hated the beach. What was the deal with sand and crabs? What was the point of it all? What creator allowed this monstrosity to happen?
Unhappy as he was, he waded a feet deep into the tides and began executing the movements he knew by heart. He couldn't get it right. He was unable to predict the rhythm of the waves, and what little he could do was made laughable compared to what nature was doing. Nature was terrible.
After a few hours of trial and error, Lei managed to make a few waves around him. He was so overjoyed watching the water move back and forth at his own will that he didn't see the huge wave coming right at him. It knocked him down. He fell backwards into the water, hitting his rear into some coral and consequently swallowing a mouthful of disgusting ocean water because he didn't have the common sense to close his mouth. He resurfaced in a few seconds, feeling like salt and sand... got everywhere. They just got everywhere.
He was furious. Despite the incredible heat, the ocean water around him began to freeze and turn into ice.
"What!? So now you're doing something!?"
He waded out of the water, leaving a trail of frozen ocean water behind him. Eventually, the ice he made too was swallowed by nature's waves.
