"I'm not! I just think you're cute." He winked at Deith, giving him a taste of his own medicine. He took a bite of his sandwich.

"Hey, you mentioned a friend earlier. Is she a friend... or a friend?"

Deith couldn't help but look away seeing Lei wink. Dammit, he hated winks. As effective his winks are to other people, the other way around is pretty worse. He could feel his cheeks heat up, and it made him all the more uncomfortable. Dammit.

"Well... we're not exactly friends," he muttered, scratching his cheek lightly with a finger. The tingling heat won't go away. "She's an artist and I'm her regular client. We're stuck with each other 'cause of some deal and I took her here to Manta Carlos... She's not worth a conversation so let's leave it at that."

Deith was blushing! It was kind of adorable, and he finally understood why Deith liked to poke his buttons a lot. It was super amusing.

"Uh-huh. I was just wondering, since you, uh, talk about being a huge playboy and all." He made a shooing gesture, blushing. It was more embarrassing said aloud. He was making an ass of himself. He stuffed the rest of his sandwich in his mouth. "Never mind that. Do you have any water?"

"Over there," Deith pointed to the red jug beside the fridge. It was on its own stand, and some clean glasses were tilted down on an open rectangular container beside it. Deith stood up. He wasn't done yet, but he really needed a moment. "I'll be back, just going to the bathroom."

With that, he walked out to the small hallway and to the said room. He had to wash his face. It would help him get rid of that disturbing tingling sensation on his cheeks, and would definitely get rid of the redness. Lei better not do it again, he thought to himself.

He paused.

Now his brain was messing with him. He wasn't a playboy, in a sense, but memories of him doing it with other people started flashing right before him. But he can't help it. It was his least harmful way of feeding himself. And he wanted Lei to be his next meal...

Lei got up to get a glass of water. While he was up, he went ahead and cleaned up the frying pan, the glass and his plate. He wondered what Deith was doing in there. His chicken wasn't that bad.

All right. The plan was practice and some dinner. It was getting late. He should head back to the dormitory before curfew.

His clothes were in the bathroom, though. He lounged on the couch and waited for Deith to come back, picking up some of the knickknacks on the table just so he had something to do with his hands.

Deith came out a few moments later. His face was already dry, but there were still damp areas on his forehead and cheeks, some strands of his hair stuck together because of the water. He's successfully cooled his face down, fortunately. And he's stopped his thoughts, too.

He tilted his head after seeing Lei on a couch. "Were you going to use the bathroom too?" he asked, stepping closer. He smiled. "Hey, will you stay for the night?"

It was... a tempting offer. If it were a Friday, he might've taken it, dorm consequences be damned, but he had class and homework due tomorrow. He didn't want to be a movie cliche and sacrifice his future for a boy, no matter how handsome.

"Maybe... some other day," he said, standing up. "I have class tomorrow."

Now this was the hard part. Favors — they were worse than admitting ignorance. He sighed, blushing a bit. "Normally, I'd show myself out, but this place is... kind of really dark and far. Can you drive me back to civilization? I promise I can make my way back as long as, you know, there are streetlights and stuff."

Deith pouted a little, but nodded anyway, and tried to smile again right afterwards. But something inside him was starting to tingle again, in a bad way. And he knew what it was. He didn't want Lei to go yet. Can't he convince him to stay? Can't he do anything? Maybe Lei would stay if he...

He shook his head a little. Massaged his suddenly aching temple. Attempting to stop that feeling in his head. It was literally inside his head.

"R-Right. No problem, I'll... drive you back. I'll see you to your school," he replied softly. Maybe some other day. That's his only assurance that Lei would come back. Maybe. But what if that maybe was a no? Deith turned to the door to hide the twitching on his right temple. He can't let Lei think that he was suddenly displeased with something. He wasn't. He's fine, and he was glad to drive Lei back. "Your clothes are in the bathroom, right? Should I get them now?"

Lei shook his head and laughed, shoving Deith lightly, playfully. "Enough with watching me in various states of undress, dude! I'll go change in the bathroom, if you don't mind."

He couldn't help but notice how Deith had suddenly turned quiet and displeased, though. He was starting to get worried. Did he do something wrong? That was probably it. He always does something wrong. As he stood by the bathroom door, he looked back at Deith.

"Hey... Is there something going on? You're all right, right?"

"Yeah, I'm okay." Deith turned to him again and smiled a little wider. It was a lie though. While he wasn't upset, he felt some kind of fear grow inside him, his stomach churning in a really strange way at the same time. It wasn't normal. Deith never felt any fear of being left behind when he was in front of other people, those he's met downtown, chatted with, or made out with. He was okay with not seeing those people again. But with Lei, who he's only met today, it was really strange and different.

Maybe because Lei resembled his dead lover so much.

"I'm going to the car, I'll wait for you there," he said all of a sudden, and rushed to the door, grabbing the knob. "Lock the door when you get out, okay? Don't worry, I'm fine... really." And then outside.
