RE: im going to fight the ENTIRE OCEAN [open]

"I can walk by myself," Lei grumbled, but he followed Deith out anyway. It was... nice having him hold his hand. He tried to hide how red his face was while they walked.

See, the good thing about being in a tropical island was that he could walk around with nothing but trunks on and he wouldn't get hypothermia. It didn't make it comfortable, but whatever.

"I live in a dormitory. Trust me, whatever we make here would be fucking gourmet." He opened the freezer. Ah. Meat. He hasn't had meat in a while. He took out the chicken to defrost and gathered up condiments and the vegetables. "I guess this is enough but this could've been greatly improved by rice, you crazy-ass foreigner."

Deith watched a couple of feet behind him. He didn't look at Lei while they walked, so he hadn't realized, until then, that the male would most likely need to wear something else. His face slightly reddened from the embarrassment of keeping Lei almost naked. "Rice..? Uh... Sorry I don't eat rice there's bread in the cabinet though hold on I'll be back." Just like that, he stormed out of the kitchen, ran upstairs, and returned with a black cotton sweater in his hands. It was his, so it was going to be slightly bigger on Lei. But it's cute that way, and that's why he reflexively chose that.

"I honestly forgot you're... not clothed enough. Sorry," he muttered, while offering the sweater.

"A sweater." Shit, he really was the female lead in the romcom. He should resign himself to a life of spontaneous adventures and sighing dramatically at windowsills while waiting for her husband to return from the war. He was mostly dry, so he pulled the sweater on anyway.

"Thanks. Don't go staring at my legs now. I know I'm hot but you must resist the temptation," he said dryly.

Time to get cooking. He washed the chicken and prepared an onion and soy sauce-based marinade. He dipped the chicken parts there one by one. "Hey, can you toast the bread in the oven and chop up those vegetables?"

Deith grinned when Lei accepted. It was getting funny to him again, he can sense some kind of air around them that made him feel like they were in a funny, fluffy cliché story. The way Lei responded made it seem so. "You're cute, Lei. But sorry, if I ever had any plans of being 'tempted', we would've long been stuck in bed right now," he teased. Messing with Lei like that was fun.

Even as he grabbed the bag of bread from one of the cabinets, his grin didn't go away. Even as he got a plate ready and started to have the bread toasted. No more feeling sorry, apparently.

"Girls are cute. Sheep are cute. I'm manly as fuck.."

At 'we' and 'stuck in bed', Lei blushed so hard he dropped the chicken leg on the marinade. Mountain God, this was getting too gay to even believe. He tried to think of disgusting thoughts because going to boner town while wearing a sweater and trunks didn't seem even remotely appropriate. Cow dung! Warts! His grandmother's wrinkly back! There we go. Crisis averted, but at what cost?

"All right, Mr. Playboy, let's stop talking about your humongous dong for a moment." He pulled out the frying pan and let the oil heat up. "You've seen my water tricks. Tell me about your illusions."

Deith flinched and looked back at him in reflex. He turned to the toaster quickly after. "I'm not taking it back." He laughed. "My illusions, huh? But I'll need extra energy for that."

He took the toasted slices of bread and placed them on the plate before making another batch. He took a few moments to think of anything that could make Lei's jaw drop. Oh well. That wasn't important. Glowing purple runes appeared and surrounded Deith's right arm as he snapped his fingers. They burst into glowing crystal-like dust particles and scattered in the air. Slowly, the kitchen started to crumble down, revealing an outside world full of snow, which was supposed to be impossible for Manta Carlos at the moment. Even the cold felt real. Deith smiled at Lei, and made random hand gestures. "Ta-da~"

Lei's eyes widened at the sudden change of scenery. It was a sea of familiar white with tiny flakes falling from the grey-blue sky. He grinned from ear to ear. He hadn't seen snow in years. He moved his foot and buried it under a pile of snow, feeling the cold bite into his skin but he didn't care. He was filled with childlike wonder.

He looked at Deith, grabbing his glowing arm due to fear of getting separated in this strange new land. "This... This is one of your illusions, isn't it? It's amazing."

He closed his eyes and smiled fondly. "I... forgot how home felt like. Thank you."

Deith understood that snow would somehow have an impact on Lei but he didn't expect his illusion to remind the male of his home. He seems happy about it. Deith understood, but only to an extent. After all, he only did experience a warm and welcoming home for a really short period of time. Such a thing was just like a distant dream for him.

He moved his arm so that he could hold Lei's hand, instead of Lei having to hold on to him. "We're the only two who can experience this right now. I'm glad you like it," he said. "But, I need to take you back to reality fast." He let go, and snapped his fingers again, and everything seemed to do a rewind as it goes back to being the kitchen again. Deith was still smiling, but with an apologetic look. "It's risky to leave the stove and toaster unattended," he reasoned.

Lei laughed, in a much more pleasant mood than before. He squeezed Deith's hand affectionately.

"Right, I get you. Dinner time." He turned around so he could start frying the chicken, though he showed some hesitance in letting Deith's hand go. He smiled at him.

And then he started frying the chicken, humming a tune he learned in his childhood.

Lei's gentle smiles were comforting, Deith was quite surprised it made him feel a fluttering in his chest. Kind of like...

No. Just no.

Deith turned away and prepared another batch of toast. The fluttering was followed by a slight and prickly pain. Lei had too much resemblance with his dearest, and he wasn't ready for that kind of bullshit. He did not like the fluttering.

It was a good thing the tune Lei was making was unfamiliar to him, because otherwise there would be something else to be added to the list.

"That's quite a beautiful tune..."
