Lochlann shifted to his back, pulling Adelene closer, and she yelped a little, placing a hand on his chest again. They were so close. Yet she can't do anything to steal all these ill thoughts away from him. It hurt her own chest.

She wasn't happy to realize she didn't know him yet. She didn't know who Lochlann was, and he was afraid to tell. He felt like a stranger to her, even after she's poured her soul out to him.

"I'm jealous... if there are other people that know while I don't.... It makes me jealous."

She moved her arms carefully, giving Lochlann a hug around his chest. He always hugged her and made her feel okay through it, she wanted to do the same.

And then Lochlann spoke about a dream kiss and... Adelene didn't know how to react at first. Her face instantly went red at the thought.

"H-How did you know I had..?"

And why did he want more dreams? She was sure he wasn't a mind reader.

"I'm jealous... if there are other people that know while I don't.... It makes me jealous."

"There are," Lochlann said. His face darkened even with his eyes closed. "I don't want them to know. One of them shot me, the other one can kill me at any moment, and the last was a complete mistake. I don't want to make mistakes with you, Addy.

He squeezed her back, his body relaxing again against her touch. He hoped she didn’t realize just how badly he needed her to do that. He’d grown almost dependent on having her in his life—the idea of losing her scared him, and the realization of how selfish that was scared him even more.

"H-How did you know I had..?“

”You were really drunk, Adds,” Lochlann said, his hand automatically drawing patterns again on her back. ”You slept through me getting up and tripping over Lamby on the way to the bathroom in the middle of the night.”

The sheep was separated in the bathroom now, sleeping in the shower where he’d be out of Lochlann’s path if or when he woke up in the middle of the night. Normally he’d leave the sheep on the balcony with the door open, but with the rain, Lochlann couldn’t trust himself not to do anything rash, even sedated, when the weather was like this.

Their roles were somewhat reversed now, with Addy being the sober one and Lochlann teetering on the brink of consciousness.

”I like that you’re the last thing I see when I close my eyes,” Lochlann confessed. He tilted his head, trying to force his eyes to open to look at her again, but it was a challenge. He wouldn’t be able to fight it much longer. ”Maybe I wished I had the same dream you did.”

"Mistakes..?" Adelene didn't know what he was talking about. Being reminded that Lochlann had a bullet in his leg, hearing that one more person can get him killed, she wasn't really taking this conversation too well. She was glad he was starting to fall asleep because she didn't want him to see her frown.

Things became even more disorienting on her end when Lochlann told her about that night she got drunk. She couldn't remember if that really happened or not. Right now though, it was Lochlann who was having a hard time staying conscious, and maybe he was getting sleep drunk because he was saying things which were too difficult for her to understand, too unbelievable, maybe too nonsensical.

How the hell was she going to leave after that? How was she going to leave if Lochlann had her trapped in his arms? How the hell was she going to leave if she was so confused and her brain was on a meltdown?

"...Go to sleep."

"Mistakes..?"

"Mmm," Lochlann said. He pulled her even closer to him, minimizing the distance between them to almost nothing, which was impressive given how close they already were.

He couldn't fight it any longer.

Lochlann rolled back onto his side to face her, his eyes barely able to stay open. He tilted his head, parted his lips, breathed her name, and started to lean forward, ready to kiss her slowly.....

..........but he fell asleep instead.

His head lolled and landed firmly between her neck and chest, which might have been a really awesome view for him if he'd been awake or planned that, but Lochlann was out.

His breathing was shallow, his hear beat slow, and he might have been mistaken for dead by someone who was not so physically close to him as Addy was. His body had relaxed completely--She'd be able to escape if she wanted to--but there was a look on his face, even asleep, that was begging her to stay.

Addy was starting to feel uncomfortable, because Lochlann was so close and he was getting closer and he was leaning in and... he fell asleep.

Adelene frowned thinking about whatever sedative he injected to himself, anxiously trying to move her hands to push Lochlann back to his spot, and then later on putting her head against his chest to listen to his heartbeat closer.

She wasn't going to feel assured that he wasn't going to die if she wasn't going to do it.

His heartbeat was so slow... His breathing was so light... But he seemed fine, he was just asleep, and the only expression she saw on his face was only asking her to stay.

She decided to stay for a while more. She needed to keep hearing his heartbeat.

And maybe she needed to talk to this Cabel person one time so she can understand what Lochlann's been up to.

She sighed, wrapping one arm over his torso. A few minutes passed, and she was starting to calm down, and their confusing conservation started replaying in her mind. They still didn't make sense.

And that was when she realized how flustered she was with Lochlann's attempt to kiss her. But she didn't push him away and... maybe she wanted it. She's dreamt of it, after all.

A few more minutes. Or maybe a couple of hours. Lochlann's heartbeat was slow, but it wasn't getting any slower and Adelene's done her best to convince herself that he would be fine. She got up, pushing her hair back with her fingers before hopping out of bed to get her goggles in the kitchen table. She wore it loosely around her neck, not bothering to fix it on her hair.

And then she went back beside the bed, kneeling down and reaching over to stroke Lochlann's hair. She was... so anxious for him. He was one of the two closest people in her heart, yet she didn't even know what he was like beyond their time together. She didn't know why he was such a wreck. She wanted to find out, but Lochlann was obviously not going to say anything. Because that's all he ever tells her.

Lochlann was such a stranger and it was scary. She trusted him so much, and it was scary. She wanted to be by his side always, and it was scary when she thinks of how life would be like without him. He was scarier than the Seth Adelene feared.

He didn't dream when he was sedated.

It was beautiful blackness. He just floated along in his subconscious like he was suspended in the slow, night-time current of a river.

Something happened, though. Addy got up. He didn't know that's what happened, only that he felt bad somehow, really bad, and it actually hurt. His chest was burning and he was clawing for air and

Lochlann gasped, blinking awake suddenly.

He hadn't realized he'd stopped breathing, only that Addy was right across from him, and that meant that everything was okay. Her fingers were in his hair and he closed his eyes again, but he was too startled to fall back, even with all the sedatives in his system.

Fuck. His chest hurt.

"I think it's time for another go," he murmured.

He sat up slowly, blinking at Addy, then reached out for her suddenly and wrapped her in another hug. "I'm so happy you're still alive. I'm happy that you're okay."

Adelene was about to leave that moment. She's gotten what she came back here for and Lochlann was peacefully asleep, she had no more reason to stay.

But just when she got up, Lochlann gasped, as if he's been having difficulty to breathe just now. Adelene scrambled back to the edge of the bed, very suddenly filled with worry. The sedative was probably a bit too strong after all. "Lochlann what's wrong?"

"I think it's time for another go."

Adelene furrowed her brows in confusion, only to be confused even more when Lochlann sat up and pulled her to a hug.

"Of... Of course I'm alive," she whispered back. Somehow, she can't make her voice louder. "Loch, what's wrong? Were you... Were you in pain?" She reached up, wrapping one arm around his neck, while her free hand went up to his head again, petting him gently.

"Lochlann what's wrong?"

"Nothings wrong," he murmured in her hair. He was breathing a little heavy now, but it worked, because it meant he had a chance to smell her without it being creepy. Not that he was thinking too much about being creepy--he was only thinking that he needed another hit.

"Of... Of course I'm alive,"

He was going to release her, but then her arm was around his neck and her other hand was in his hair. He was pulled close and he lowered his arms, wrapping her around her sides. He gave a small groan, exhaling into her neck.

"I wasn't...I forget that....fuck," he said. He was having a really hard time thinking. He closed his eyes and rested his head on her shoulder. "Sometimes I don't know what's happening when I wake up. I am glad when I wake up and you are there, and that you are okay. I never want to wake up and have something happen to you."

"Loch, what's wrong? Were you... Were you in pain?"

He fell back onto the bed.

Fuck.

Fuck he felt really bad.

"No," he lied. He really wanted to get back to sleep this off, but it was really hard. Anything could be slept off. He sat up again and pushed off the bed, going back to his nightstand, but his legs were really unsteady and he collapsed onto the floor, landing hard.

"Fuck."

He looked at her, his eyes pleading and unfocused, and said, "Can you um.....fuck. Can you open that drawer for me?"

When Lochlann fell back, Adelene had no choice but to let go, or she was going to fall on him, too. She didn't believe him. She was pretty sure the sedative was still working, and it wasn't good to wake up this way, and it wasn't good to force the body to move while it's down.

Adelene tried to stop him from getting up, but he fell to the floor instead.

"Lochlann you shouldn't move around. That was too much sedative you took a while ago..."

He was asking her to open the drawer. She helped him back to bed, she did her best even though Lochlann was heavy as hell, and gave the drawer a suspicious look. She knew what was in there. She saw what Lochlann kept there when she arrived.

She turned to Lochlann, trying to push him back to lie down. "No," a firm no, followed by panicked and worried words. "Loch I already told you you could die if you overdose yourself and you already did! No more! Can't you get some sleep without it?"

"Lochlann you shouldn't move around. That was too much sedative you took a while ago..."

"No, it wasn't enough," Lochlann said, but his voice sounded strained. Just as before, he was pliable, and he moved with her to the bed, but he didn't seem to realize what was happening. He slurred, "Please, Addy, Please, you don't understand, I need to do this."

.No," a firm no, followed by panicked and worried words. "Loch I already told you you could die if you overdose yourself and you already did! No more! Can't you get some sleep without it?"

He collapsed under her touch onto the bed. He wanted to protest, to argue in some way, but he was struggling to get the words in a coherent thought process. The only thing he kept saying was "Fuck."

His chest really hurt. He couldn't remember a time it hurt this bad. His heart was lagging and it took so much effort to breath. He closed his eyes, swallowed, and said, "I think I'm having a panic attack, Addy."

He did not want to go to the hospital, but he was feeling even worse now than when he'd first woken up. It took so much effort to keep his eyes open but, simultaneously, he was struggling to fall back to sleep.

He didn't want to freak her out. He wanted her to be calm. He just...he wasn't doing so great right now. Of course, Lochlann had never overdosed before. He had nothing to compare this feeling to. He couldn't even conceive that he'd taken too much so the thought never crossed his mind.
