Adelene couldn't remember the latter part of the drinking contest she had with Lochlann. One thing was clear though: she lost. She had fallen asleep at some point. She even dreamt that she kissed him, which seemed a little impossible in real life for her. She was not cutting any booze supply and worse, she would have to wear a dress for Lochlann and go to dinner with him. But that's for another day, hopefully.

She had gone back to her place with a major headache, but when it subsided, she realized she forgot something very important in Lochlann's place. The white goggles from Leon weren't on her head when she'd gone home.

It had rained for a couple of hours that morning. She didn't want to get wet again, not after the last incident, and she didn't want to have useless arguments with him again because of it. So she let it pass and went out early in the afternoon. There was still some alcohol left in her system but at least she didn't smell like it anymore.

But she was probably still a little disoriented. She forgot to knock on the door when she reached Lochlann's place, simply barging in without warning and walking inside.

"Lochlann I forgot--"

She froze.

Lochlann was there, and she could only stare with wide-eyed from the shock. She had a feeling she wasn't supposed to see this. "Oh... my..."

"Addy," Lochlann looked up from where he was sitting on the edge of the bed.

He wasn't expecting to see her here, and he certainly wasn't expecting her to see him like this.

Lochlann was wearing only his sweatpants, and he was sitting haphazardly on the end of the bed. He had a needle shoved into his inner elbow and the area was already spotted with bruises, evidence of where he'd missed the first few times.

His finger had pushed down the plunger right as she'd said his name.

"Oh..Addy, shit," Lochlann said, taking the needle from his arm. His motions were already starting to get sluggish. He'd used over a full dose of the tranquilizer. He opened his nightstand drawer and tossed the needle back in the sharps container, blinking at her sluggishy. Embarrassed, he asked, "Did you...did you uh..need something?"

She was in a good distance, but Addy saw the bruises in Lochlann's elbows pretty clearly. She had seen them once, inside the shed near the pier that one time, but she didn't realize it was because... of this.

He's mentioned tranquilizers before but she didn't realize... he was using such a large dosage on himself.

Something in her stomach started to turn, her heartbeat was starting to race. She was feeling worried, but at the same time, she was internally panicking, and that showed as she cringed and her legs shook at her uncomfortable spot as she eyed him.

Lochlann looked sleepy. Of course he did, he just did that to himself. She frowned. She was suddenly jittery, and she could honestly burst if she wouldn't make herself careful, but she was mostly scared.

"You're not trying to kill yourself... are you..?"

She looked scared, and now Lochlann was really worried, but he couldn't quite get his thoughts together. He rubbed his head, which was still throbbing from the rain and said, "Addy? Are you sure everything is okay? You look like you've seen a ghost."

Admittedly given that it was SA, it was highly possible she had.

He tried to sit up, but his bad leg spasmed and he collapsed half-onto the bed and half onto the floor with a surprised yelp following a short delay.

"You're not trying to kill yourself... are you..?"

"What?" Lochlann asked, pulling himself back up into a sitting position. His brain was already addled with the alcohol, and he thought she'd heard the rumor about the time he'd spent in the hospital when Guin had shot him. It never dawned on him that she could be referring to, well, this. "Who told you about that? Jeeze, it wasn't what it looked like, I swear, I went through suicide-watch, I did my time, I'm not going back there. Nuh uh. Never again."

He really wanted to get up to make sure she was okay, but it was so hard to pick himself up from off the floor. Cabel was right--this stuff was fast.

Lochlann didn't look like he was fit to be talking now. And Adelene figured she really wasn't supposed to be here. She was going to grab her goggles and go.

But then Lochlann fell and she instinctively darted towards him, trying to help him up and shift to a better position. And then he started talking about...

"WHAT." She furrowed her brows. "Suicide watch..? For Pete's sake... what have you been doing?"

Her voice cracked. Hearing things so suddenly tended to hurt her in a way. While she knew it was already in the past, she still couldn't help but freak out.

"Don't ask me if I'm okay! I just saw you injecting yourself with tranquilizers and I honestly understand that you need it but... That dosage is too high! It's bad for you, you'll kill yourself!"

"WHAT." She furrowed her brows. "Suicide watch..? For Pete's sake... what have you been doing?"

She was so close to him and Lochlann didn't even realize she'd moved. He was looking up at her and the crack in her voice really scared him. What had happened to her? He reached out and patted her leg awkwardly, resting his head on the bedframe.

What had he been doing?

Everything except her, basically. The thought made him feel weird, and he gave a short, strangled noise that was half sigh and half laugh.

"Addy shhh, don't worry about me," he said. God it was so hard to focus right now, but he really needed to make sure she was okay. "I'm really good right now. This is the best I've been in a long time, and I'm even better because you're here. But I want to make sure you're okay."

He hugged her legs, reaching up to patt her, but he was probably patting her on the butt.

"Don't ask me if I'm okay! I just saw you injecting yourself with tranquilizers and I honestly understand that you need it but... That dosage is too high! It's bad for you, you'll kill yourself!"

He froze and dropped back, looking up at her again, squinting at her, his face suddenly white.

The last time someone said that had been--

"I didn't...I mean...I had to, she was in the hospital, and it was my fault!' Lochlann slurred at her.

Her question had prompted back a very vivid flashback to the last time he'd seen his ex-girlfriend alive. Her friend had found him, drunk and high in a classroom, upset that he'd been avoiding his ex. He'd almost eaten her. That'd been a year and a half ago already. His voice hitched and he burried his face in his hands, suddenly looking a lot smaller, a lot more vulnerable, something he tried to hide from her.

"Oh god I really fucked up," he said.

Adelene flinched when Lochlann hugged her legs and patted her on the butt. She slapped his hand, but only very gently. And then he stared at her, and he was suddenly paler than usual.

"Who was what..?" She didn't even know what he was talking about. But she knew she just said something that probably made things more terrible than it already was.

More than worried, she was already starting to feel guilty. And he was staying up only because she was there, and she was saying things that made him feel terrible. She didn't know what else there was she could do, other than come a little closer and pet his head. That one always seemed to comfort him.

"Loch... Better sleep this one off. I was just... I was just here to get my goggles... I didn't mean to walk in just like that so I'm sorry. I'm still a little... nervous about your dosage but... I think it's better for me to leave when you sleep, right?"

"Who was what..?"

He looked up at her with plain confusion, because it was Addy standing before him, and if she was here, that meant...that meant everything was going to be okay.

Right?

Her fingers were in his hair and it had the desired effect--his body drooped against the legs in sheer relaxation. He whickered gently, a horse-sound escaping his otherwise human demeanor.

"Loch... Better sleep this one off. I was just... I was just here to get my goggles... I didn't mean to walk in just like that so I'm sorry. I'm still a little... nervous about your dosage but... I think it's better for me to leave when you sleep, right?"

Her goggles?

Oh right, they were in his bed. He moved them to the kitchen table. She wanted him to sleep it off. He blinked at her slowly, and then gave a short small laugh.

"That's..that's probably a good idea, the sleeping," Lochlann said. "It's gonna be a baaaad night, Addy. If I can..sleep through it I don't have to wake up in the morning then."

He meant he'd sleep until afternoon, but he wasn't thinking about how this might still make him sound suicidal.

Lochlann tried to get back to his feet and mostly succeeded, stumbling a few steps before crashing onto the kitchen floor. He didn't even feel the impact. "Your..your goggles are on the ahhhhhhh the table. You look cute with the goggles. It's like a headband but more badass."

Real words of wisdom, right here.

Lochlann was talking about not waking up, and Adelene gasped, slapping his hand again. "You better wake up! I want to see you in school tomorrow!"

Why in hell was she feeling tears in her eyes? They were small and they didn't seem like they were going to roll down her cheeks, but the fact that they were there surprised her.

Honestly she was just really scared. They were having talks about suicide after she found Lochlann overdosing himself with tranquilizers, and then a few wrecked memories from his past somehow slipped into the surface because of her. She felt terrible, and she's only been here for five minutes or so.

Lochlann got up, and really, Adelene tried to keep him in the bed but he somehow managed to make his way for the kitchen table, only he did fall before getting there. He was talking about her goggles, and being called cute, Adelene felt her face heat up. But her tears were getting worse.

"I get it, I get it, now go back to bed and sleep, okay??" She was trying her best to hold the tears in her eyes. Lochlann was probably too sleepy to notice them, so as long as she didn't sob, she'd look okay.

"You better wake up! I want to see you in school tomorrow!"

The slap to his hand might have surprised him if he could have really felt pain in this state.

"Mmmnawww,"Lochlann said, shaking his head, disagreeing with her. "It's gonna rain aaaaaaallllll day tomorrow, Adds. It's just gonna be me and the sleep for as long as I can."

He was laying on the floor in the kitchen now, waiting for her to come and get her goggles. If she walked over him and was wearing a skirt, he'd have a perfectly lewd view.

"That reminds me," Lochlann slurred. "You're gonna wear the dress annd Im gonna....i'm gonna take you OUT for dinner."

His heart was starting to lag again and it was getting harder and harder for him to focus. He didn't want to risk falling asleep when she might need him, though.

"I get it, I get it, now go back to bed and sleep, okay??"

"Mmmmnawww,' he said, shaking his head. "I need to check out YOU, Addy. Check that you're okay. you seem worried and I want to be there for you but we need pizza for that, and caffeine, because I'm just....so tired. We should order pizza."

Lochlann sort of did the worm across the kitchen, until he was at the door. He managed to pull himself wobbly towards his feet.

"LETS DO IT,' he slurred enthusiastically.
