Acai nodded in agreement with the second stranger. With time, control would come over one's powers. Right now, it looked like talking to the tentacle-man was starting to calm him down. Trembling now, Acai had almost begun to hope that he would reject her offer to try to heal. To heal him would mean she had to get closer to that dark feeling, not to mention the ever present black snakes that spilled out of his body. Taking a deep breath, Acai looked like she aged several years in a single second as she drew herself up, steadying herself.

Bowing her head in a small greeting, Acai's lips turned up in the semblance of a smile. "It is nice to meeting you, Félix. I am thinking that you are a human, too. I am Açaí." Turning to the female stranger, Acai was rather interested in her power of speed. "Who are you being?" Kneeling next to Félix, Acai tucked her legs underneath her, settling in to prepare. "You may feel a small tugging." The glow in her hand flared up, taking on a greenish yellow tinge. Placing her hand onto the arm closest to her, Acai began the process of drawing out the negative feelings.

Acai could not help but whimper as everything hit her at once. She could feel his lingering emotions pushing at her own energy, and she had to force herself to ignore them. Steadily, she poured her own life energy into his body, pushing as much as she could. She wasn't about to kill herself for this stranger, but she could certainly give him enough of her life to feel the calming effects of the forest spirits. As always, a body being healed was greedy for more. Forcing herself back, Acai broke the connection before any harm could be done. Panting now, she tried to quell the despair and embarrassment, presumably pieces of his emotions, and forced them down. She could deal with those at a later date. "Are you having any better feelings...?"

so, granted he may not be human, but not being human didn't mean monster. She wasn't quite of how this guy controlled his powers, however, so she couldn't be sure of anything. She studied the young man for a moment. There seemed to be a lot of tenseness and pain in his face. She had no doubt there wasn't. Those horrid things were doing all sorts of awful stuff, and she was sure he felt the pain. She couldn't imagine having a power that caused you pain a lot. Then again, she ran into a lot of trees and walls. But, her endurance made it easy for her to forget about the pain and continue. Not saying she didn't feel it later, like now, after she ran into the tree. Félix. That was the name of the man guy thing. she wasn't sure exactly what she'd call him. And the other ones name was... Açaí? Like the berry. She presumed so.

"Oh, those are nice names." she had to say something nice to brighten up the mood a bit. But she almost laughed out loud when the young woman asked "Who are you being?" She stopped herself before the could laugh though. She was being serious. 'Well, I'm glad they know that I'm human, now what is that guy?' She thought to herself, wiping a bit of a smile off her face. "I'm Nikki, I'm a human and my powers are speed and endurance." But, now was not the time to go into a full detailed description. What was the woman doing? Ahh, she must be healing him ,or helping to anyway. That was terribly nice of her. She wasn't sure if she'd wanted to get in close range of the guy. She inched forward a little, closer to Félix, hoping that Açaí's healing had helped.

Açaí? Like the fruit? Why did Félix feel that it suited her? He'd never consider things like 'pomegranate' or 'strawberry'... not even just 'berry'... for a typical name. All of a sudden, this woman was even more peculiar than he first thought.

She approached him with glowing hands. Félix was unnerved a little, and looked to Nikki to see how she felt. Nikki didn't seem to be concerned, so maybe it was okay. He relaxed, or at least tried to, and let Açaí apply her hand on Félix's untainted side. It was entirely unusual. He could feel tugging, but not on the arm directly. It was in his head. Félt calm for the first time in a while, but it disappeared the moment she let go. Not all his worries returned, but there was a look of disappointment on his face. If only briefly.

“I'm a bit better. Hello Açaí, Nikki.” Félix sighed and focused on his tendrils. They were mostly still, floating in the air like stalks of seaweed in the ocean. Félix breathed in and out, and the black tendrils slowly crawled back into Félix's skin. Eventually they vanished into a pool of black, and the pool itself closed off like a wound. All that was left was Félix's pale skin, his left arm and a giant tear in his shirt.

He had control again. The taint in his mind didn't leave, but Félix at least had control. “Thank you,” he smiled graciously to Açaí. He raised both his hands to her, his shirt dangling off of just one shoulder. “I'm fairly human after all. Most of the time.”

So Açaí could do healing, and Nikki was stronger and hardier. 'Gifted' students here seemed to run the whole gamut of odd knacks and talents. Félix smiled a little more genuinely now, confident he had the thing within him under control. At least for now.

“I remember seeing power classes offered. I didn't think to enrol in them.” He wasn't telling the truth. He did think, but he was afraid to show himself in that other form. A few tentacles were nasty enough, but it wasn't the most extreme he had seen this manifestation become.

Acai hadn't expected to see that he could actually retract the tentacles. Well, she was rather glad that he didn't have to walk around with those frightening things bursting out of his body. That would be a delight to shop for clothes with. Acai smiled back, giving a little bow. She couldn't help but wonder if the tentacle thing happened often, or if it was triggered by some strong emotion. Hopefully he did enroll in some power classes. She had never been able to attend, but Acai had heard of the excellent classes that the school provided for the local youth.

"It may be wise to enroll. Next time, it may no just be tree you hurt." If he could destroy a tree like that so easily, she didn't doubt for a moment that those tentacles could easily kill a couple people off in one go. She was sure that the fear of having such a dangerous power would likely be overwhelming, but if he didn't get some form of help, it would be rather dangerous. "Do they come often out?" Hopefully, if they weren't a common occurrence, he would be in less danger of hurting anything else.

Nikki was fascinated by the older girl's powers. Healing, she was sure that was one of popular demand. she cocked her head, looking at her hands, which had stopped glowing. she also agreed with her on the classes part. It was highly essential for people with little control over their powers. Luckily, she was in pretty good control of hers. When she first got it though, she would randomly shoot forward even when she was just walking. It too a while to learn how to control it, and sometimes the energy burst before she could stop it.

Nikki wondered the same thing. Hopefully the slightly creepy things did't occur to often. she hoped for people's sake any way. Although the tress probably hoped so too. She picked up a piece of fallen bark and sighed, letting it drop to the forest floor once more.

She breathed in the sharp cold air, and let it out. It was a pretty nice day out, from what she could see around her. She mentally noted that the forest was a place she should come often. Now she'd found two places that she could come to if she ever wanted to just be alone.

"And,do they always have a mind of their own?" she asked adding to Acai's question.

Acai and Nikki's questions struck a chord in Félix. In his mind, the questions were born out of fear of what he could do. Questions about his control and the frequency of it. While they were fair to ask, and Félix would have wondered the same thing in their shoes, he couldn't help but take offence.

“No. No. No.” Félix emphatically shook his head. He frowned, “It's very rare that I can't control it.” The number of times it did run out of control was maybe less than five in his whole life. Only on one occasion did he hurt something more than trees or property, but it was enough to instill dread and hesitance to use his powers.

“I hate what I can do. I'd rather be able to heal people or run very fast.” Félix stood up from the ground now, brushing dirt off of his pants and trying to arrange his damaged shirt against his torso. He'd brush that off as well. Félix was done being in the dirt and feeling unclean. He'd rather walk back and forget this all happened.

“What about you two? Have you ever had problems with your powers?” If Félix couldn't feel well about himself, maybe he could find commonality in his two acquaintances.

Acai had to nod in agreement with the one called Nikki. She too wanted to know if they were their own entity. That would make this meeting rather dangerous indeed. She was relieved to hear that it was usually under control, and the things were not their own creature. A light smile touched her lips when he refused his powers. A man will always view another man's meal as more savoury.

Acai stood with Félix, folding her arms up to her chest. "With healing come destruction. Every moment I heal, it destroy mine body. I give mine own life energy, it risk death, but reward good. As child, I near die many time by accident heal plant and animal. Locked away, forbid to touch others. Sad life." As a child, she had not had a very stable grasp on the control of her powers. She healed and gave her life away recklessly, nearly destroying her own life to save the lives of the plants that grew around her home. In time, she had been locked away with a master of powers. He was able to teach her, but it was at the cost of human contact. She had not known a touch of another since coming to the island, but she had recently decided that she liked being able to touch. "To reject one own power is bad. One must embrace the gift and feed it instruction. To left in the dark, it will rot and become bad."

Nikki was also relieved to hear that his powers were under control most of the time. Nikki was sad to hear that he didn't like his powers. Of course, running fats was something that lots of people wanted to do.

She listened to Acai tell a short story of her childhood, and the uses of her power. Nikki almost froze when she said that the pain came to herself. A childhood of healing others but harming yourself, it must have been hard. But wait, that meant that she was feeling Felix's pain right now?

"Wow, that must have been hard, I can't even imagine." She turned to Félix, prepared to tell him a little about her power problems. "I think everyone has had problems with their powers. I can't even tell you how many times I've run into trees, walls, doors, furniture, bushes, poles, all because I can't stop easily. But, my gift of endurance enables me to keep going, thank goodness. But, having my powers, I was forced to stop gymnastics, something that I loved so much, devoted my time too, I could have been a pro you know, but my gift forced my parents to make me stop. I still got it in me though. Always will."

It was true, she never stopped practicing. She was not a quitter, and so she watched tapes, rented books, did online research, and she continued to teach herself. She even learned some new tricks! The thought of Acai's childhood crept into her mind and she stopped to think deeply for a moment. It must of been awful. She didn't know why it bothered her so much, maybe because of her love of people?

Félix felt sick thinking about her healing. She could literally feel what he was going through, or at least a small measure of it. He didn't move away from Acai, but his first thoughts were to make sure she didn't try to help him again. He felt ashamed to put her through his own worries like that.

But despite her own suffering, she insisted not to hide from one's power. Félix didn't know if he could accept the advice so easily. He was terrified about losing control, if his instruction and embrace wouldn't be enough. There was another will involved in his powers, but Félix didn't want them to worry about that small detail.

It was not all discouraging. Funnily enough, knowing that Acai and Nikki had to cope with their own gifts gave Félix some hope. “I had to give up something myself because of my powers,” he said. It wasn't related to those black tentacles, but rather his voice. He could never control it, and long since gave up on trying. Félix rarely sang anymore.

“Thank you both. I don't know what I can do just yet, but I will try.” It would take a long time before he had confidence in what he could do. It still felt like a risk to try at all, but if he didn't he also risked losing control of his powers.

“If I may ask, what were you two up to out here anyway?” Félix wanted a change of subject. He knew he ran out of the school to here, but if he recalled neither came from that direction.

Acai felt a little melancholy in regards for Félix. She understood compromise and sacrifice well, but that did not make the words any less bitter. Reminded of her goal, Acai had completely forgotten that she had set out to gather things. It was probably far too late to resume, anyway. By the time she had found the spot she set away, it would most likely be sunset. "I am finding." Holding her little basket out proudly, Acai plucked a small sprout of early mint that she had found. It was somewhat frostbitten, but it would still taste like mint. "Good to make a tea." Other such roots and berries that were useful to tea were seemingly not native to this island. Much to her dismay, she had to make do with mint and other such random plants. Dandelions were perhaps her only comfort in this foreign world.

"It good I can find dandelion all over. Dandelion good." Always willing to share the joys of dandelion, had she not lacked the proper vocabulary, Acai would have perhaps launched into a sermon about the goodness and joy of dandelions. Holding her tongue instead, Acai shuffled to the side to look at the female stranger called Nikki. She had to admit, she was rather curious as to why someone with speed would be running through a forest. If she had the power of flight, she would perhaps be running across open fields, instead of the forest.
