Arjean's family supposed they should let their child get accustomed to the school they would be joining, and perhaps even make some friends. With that in mind, they decided that leaving Arjean outside was the best course of action. They loved their freedom and loved to practice their flight, even if they couldn't fly that high up or fast yet. It was also a place where they didn't feel constantly monitored, yet there were enough people there that if they got hurt or did something bad someone would have to notice.

After their mommies left after dropping them off in the courtyard, they held a piece of paper that gave them the time they needed to return back to where they were left. With that paper came a watch on their wrist with pretty little butterflies on it, and they were told it would set off a small alarm to alter them when to head back to their original place. Arjean felt like that was a bit complicated, but their mommies always knew what they were doing, so there was no reason to talk back.

At first they just flew around, looking for other kids around their age to play with. Their mommies would be so proud if they made a friend, or even friends! They wished Junchi was here though, but they were told that they would just play with him and no other children. Playing with strangers didn't really sound that comforting though, and it was more fun to play with people they were used to and knew more about. It didn't take long for them to end their search for friends and move onto looking at the pretty flowers and the older kids play. Junchi would've liked the flowers, and he would've definitely tried to play with the older kids. He always admired them, but Arjean just admired how they could do whatever they want without feeling limited all the time.

Theo turned up at the school grounds that day, having convinced his parents that they were too lazy to play, his street was home to primarily adults and his parents convincing him that the park was too dangerous to play in alone. The school courtyard seemed a reasonable place, there was a game of sorts taking place anyway. Not knowing any of the people, amd realising those playing the game were considerably older than him, he contemplated not playing. For a split second. After that, he was straight into the game, aimlessly running in circles worth the super-speed he was still trying to get the hang of. Despite being entirely unaware of the game's objective, Theo held his own, courageously running through packs of much taller people.

However, games are much more fun if the aim is clear to all players, and so after the young werewolf had expended a little energy on whatever the older children played, he climbed a nearby tree, to get a better vantage point from which to understand the game. His bushy hair was disheveled already, his bright red hoodie was dirty as usual, his black tracksuit pants were covered in dirt marks and his bare feet held claws which scaled the tree trunk with ease. Once he was mounted on a high but stable branch, Theo began focusing on what happened in the game. But his incredibly short attention span turned him off of that endeavour and onto another one.

There was a little sheep-like girl-like creature underneath the tree. His first instinct was to bite. After all, that's generally what wolves do to sheep. But as they looked at the flowers inquisitively, he felt the compassion to spare them, at least for the time being. Instead, he flipped backwards from a tree branch so that he was dangling there by his legs. "Hello!" He exclaimed at the creature confidently. "I'm Theo. Who are you?" His greeting sounded rehearsed, but it was just due to the number of introductions he had to say over the years.

Theo decided to remain in his place in the tree, in case the creature wasn't worth talking to and they wanted to go back and play something. He swung a little on his legs, but listened attentively for his friend-to-be's name.

Arjean stumbled back at the site of the boy. They could hear him coming before he appeared, but they heard many people walking past and didn't pay much attention to them. It was the fact that he just introduced himself from a tree that scared Arjean.

They nearly wept from the surprise, but he seemed friendly and wasn't doing anything bad. Instead, they stood up and attempted to repress their fear and tears as they spoke to him. Their voice came off a little shaky at first, but they worried more for their accent than the shakiness. "H-Hullo. U-Um... I'm Arjean Afolabi-Soie. Why... did you come from tree? And, um, please quiet down?" They gave a small and awkward smile, hoping they didn't offend him. He looked to be around their age and interested in speaking to them. Their mommies would be so proud if they befriended him. It's just... loud people made Arjean's ears twitch and hurt, and people were already loud in general, whether speaking or not. He just seemed to be even louder than the normal loud.

Theo looked confused as the creature got scared by him. Maybe she was just shy, he thought. Their last name sounded too complicated, so Theo concentrated on just remembering Arjean.

He checked the ground below him was safe enough and seeing grass, he unhooked his legs from the tree branch so he fell to the ground, tucking himself into a somersault to minimise the impact. Theo had always been lively and had practiced falling out of trees enough that he didn't get hurt. Springing up to his feet he stood in front of Arjean and whispered, "Sowy. Mommy says I talk too loud." He wanted to make friends with them, not scare them away, so he decided to quieten down.

He may have overdone the quietness, because he was now talking in a very hard-to-hear voice. "I was in the twee, climbing," he whispered softly. "It's like I'm on top of the world up there." His already large eyes widened as he said this, grinning and pointing up at the tree on his tippy-toes as if it wasn't obvious what he was talking about. Theo's smile flashed his pointy little fangs which usually just rested on his bottom lip.

An an idea popped into his head. "Do you want to be my friend?" He asked. This was how he had always made friends in the past and saw no other way of doing it. Of course he wanted to be friends with Arjean, they could be his first friend over here who wasn't related to him.

Arjean took a step back to give him room the do his roll, and when he stood back up and apologized they quickly accepted it. They even gave a small applause for his stunt. Whenever Arjean tried to do the rolls Remi did they only sometimes succeeded, and other times they ended up dizzy and with their head hurting. Theo seemed really good at it though, and they bet Remi would've clapped too.

When they noticed he was speaking quieter than others, even quieter than oricenta who tried to keep the more sensitive of hearers happy, they gave a small giggle. "You can be a bit loud," they told him while holding their index and thumb a few inches away. Just as they finished saying that, he made a sudden request they didn't think would happen so fast. Usually Arjean was the one asking for friends, and they were told that relationships had to be built, not asked for. So Maman and Mommy and Grandy and Remi can be wrong sometimes... Something about that thought made Arjean feel sick.

The thoughts were quickly picked up and put into the Big Box of Bad Stuff in Arjean's mind. Afterwards, they gave a big smile to their knew friend and jumped up and down in excitement. A smile can brighten any day and make any bad thoughts go away. "Yes!" they exclaimed excitedly. "My mommies will be super super happy." Junchi on the other hand would be jealous and try to keep Arjean from building a friendship more advanced than the one they had with him. But Junchi wasn't here right now, so right now he didn't matter. "Do you want to play?" they asked him.

The applause for his roll made Theo giggle. He had never had any praise for them, only warnings from his parents that he would hurt himself. It wasn't unwelcome, he loved the attention, it was just surprising.

As Arjean told him he didn't have to be so quiet, his voice returned almost to normal with a slight hushed tone to it. He had become more aware of his noise level and didn't want to get to loud again. But being so young, he was likely to just forget about it soon enough. "Okay! Like this?" He asked. As Theo asked if they could be friends, a quick look of shock flashed across Arjean's face, not enough to question but enough to recognise. He didn't think it was too sudden. After all, they had already talked a bit to one another, and they had exchanged names. In his mind, they were at a perfect stage to be friends. Of course he believed in building relationships, though. After all, nobody becomes best friends without sharing a secret and nobody becomes best friends for ever and ever without spending a whole day together.

He was very happy Arjean accepted and was now officially his friend. They would have so much fun together! "You have more than one mommy?" Theo asked, clearly finding it unfair that he only got one. He wondered why they were so lucky, confused over the principle which was never explained to him, but dismissed it in favor of play. He could never refuse that! He said, "Yes yes yes! I love games! I have played every game on Earth right now! What one do you want to play?" It was true. Arjean was going to struggle to think of a game he hadn't played before. He just loved them too much.

"Yes, like that." Arjean nodded. It was nice that he was trying to keep his voice moderated. It was common for people to question Arjean on why they thought certain things were too loud, but all they could really do was point at their ears. That seemed to work well enough for the older kids, but the ones their age still seemed confused. Arjean also liked how Theodore spoke so quickly. It took them some time to translate the words they didn't immediately pick up, but it was better than people talking so slow they got bored and walked away. Theodore didn't use really large words anyways, so there wasn't much to translate. They did feel a bit silly with how he spoke a lot, yet Arjean spoke slowly to make sure they were understood and to pick out words they learned.

When the topic of games came up, Arjean couldn't help but shout "I like games too!" immediately. They couldn't believe he played every game on earth, and they admired that. They wanted to play every game on earth, but their family disliked them playing certain games like hide-and-seek and tag and any games with animals. It was because Arjean was too rough, but how were they supposed to know that? Everyone was always having fun when they played games. Now the limited experience Arjean had with games made it harder for them to play with other kids, and made it difficult to figure out a good game Theodore would want. Arjean was usually told to play puzzle games or vocabulary games or math games. Their mommies told them it's to make them smart so when they grow up they can do whatever they wanted. When Arjean grew up, what wanted to play all the games they couldn't as a child.

"Um... Do you want to play tag? Or hide and seek? I... uh... I never play tag and hide and seek. I want to." They knew their family wouldn't like this, but when they looked down at their watch not a lot of time passed. They still had time before their mommies came back to pick them up. Arjean made sure to keep their ears perked up and senses on guard in case their family was near.

When Arjean was happy with his noise level, Theo relaxed. That was good. It was loud enough so he could talk freely, but quiet enough that it would not burst her eardrums. He talked fast so he could get all of his thoughts out at the rate they came in. His mind was basically bubbling over with simple thoughts such as "I want to play," or "I'm hungry," or "I really want to bite him/her/them." If his words didn't come out at a certain pace, he was afraid the thoughts would make his head explode. It was nothing new, though. It always happened to him. Arjean, on the other hand, spoke slowly. It sort of balanced the conversation, though, made it steadier rather than in constant fast-forward. He didn't mind them doing that, actually. It gave him time for the thoughts to accumulate in his mind.

Theo knew as soon as Arjean mentioned that they liked games that they would be a good friend. That was his one requirement for his friends, and since it was pretty common among preschoolers he usually had many. But he was new here, and he would have to find knew friends to replace the old. That was okay though, meeting people was the best part of friendship in his eyes. The boy was smiling unintentionally as Arjean spoke. As she asked about hide-and-seek and tag his eyes widened and he nodded. He didn't understand why they were so uncertain about them, they were pretty much the most common, simple games out there. Meaning they were a couple of Theo's favourites. Less rules, more fun.

"Of course we play them!" He said excitedly. "They are good!" But then, seeing their worried expression, added, "Do you know how?" He wasn't great at reading people's faces, but Arjean definitely wasn't as comfortable as he was at that point in time, and there was no way it would go unnoticed. It could be that they didn't know how to play those games, of course. He always met others who were new at playing. A curious look came across his face as he tried to figure out what made Arjean so nervous.

Arjean's face began to glow a light blue in response to Theo's question and his look at them. They quickly shot their head down and tried to cover their blush, but their hands couldn't cover their entire face no matter how hard they tried. It was silly to not know how to play common games wasn't it? And now Theo knew and he was looking at them weirdly and it was going to be even more silly being taught how to play a games like those that everyone knew.

Slowly, Arjean raised their face, still blushing uncontrollably from their embarrassment. Not point in hiding it now. It was painfully obvious. "Y-Yes... Sort of... I know hide-and-seek, but, um, not tag." He didn't seem to be mocking them at least, just a bit confused. Everyone knew how to play those games, even Junchi, and yet they were still told to not play them. Whenever they saw Junchi play tag with other kids though, he'd always change the rules so he could win.

Of course Theo was surprised that Arjean didn't know how to play tag. He bit his lip in order to conceal his shock, but one of his fangs cut it while doing so and he tasted blood. Licking the blood off his inner lip to cover it up, he said, "That okay! I can teach you!" It wasn't as if he hadn't taught others before - there were plenty of times when other kids had learnt to play games with him. Arjean shouldn't be so scared of admitting that.

He noticed Arjean's blush as they looked up. It turned their dark cheeks a rosy red-pink shade. Theo told her, "Don't be scared." Afraid was one of just four emotions Theo could recognise on others; out of happy, sad, angry and afraid. It seemed like the closest one to what Arjean looked like. "You have to learn one day." He proceeded to clear his throat as if he was about to make a speech.

"Hide and seek is easy. One person hide, the other count to ten then find them. Tag is one person is it, and everyone run away from them. They have to chase. If you are caught, you are it." It was the best explanation he could give. "Get it?" He asked. If not, he could show her while they played.
