Eventually they completely stopped crying as they listened to Theo. They had full trust in him to know what to do since he was older, which meant he was smarter and wiser. He didn't seem to do much at first, only uttering generic words to calm them, but they noticed an idea pop into his head. He had their full attention now that Arjean knew he had something that must be good.

At first they found it a bit silly how he commanded them to calm down. When they commanded others to feel or lose an emotion they were told it didn't work that way and it was rude. It really didn't work that way all the times, but with animals it felt easy to make them change their emotions quickly. In this case Arjean decided to see what would happen. Doing what they were told seemed to be the easiest way to make friends and make others happy. When he told them to follow his finger with only their eyes they tilted their head a bit, but did as they were told. Then Arjean made their chest go in and out and crossed their legs like they were told.

Just the simple idea of Theo not judging them and being distracted made Arjean feel better, yet they couldn't help but ask "What will this do?" It felt a bit silly, but they supposed it was working considering they felt more calm and better. It was hard to tell if it was his method that was working, or them getting tired after shape-shifting and crying so much.

Everything was getting better! At least that's what Theo thought. Arjean's tears were clearing up, and they were actually listening to him. Nobody usually paid him that much attention, and that's why he was always so lively. He usually had to climb on things before anyone would notice him. So Arjean's attention was both welcomed and encouraging for him.

He was also very happy that they did what he told them to do. The poor old wolf got barked down so often, but Theo could never help him. The old guy was called crazy, eccentric, even stupid. Theo didn't believe that. He knew he was the most patient, calm wolf in the world, and so obviously what he did really worked. Arjean seemed to calm down somewhat too, taking on a more confused expression.

When asked what he was doing, Theo grinned. She wasn't sad anymore! He said, "To make you better," for lack of better words. In truth, he had no clue what would come after he did what he was doing. Maybe Arjean would go all wrinkly like the old werewolf.

For the next thing he did, he looked around him. He didn't see a crystal ball, or special cards or tea leaves anywhere. But that was okay! Theo said, "Okay, now you have to close your eyes and say ommmmmm! For... Um... Five seconds." The last part was a guess. How was he supposed to know exactly how to do things like this? He paused to let them do this, before saying,

"Okay! Now listen very very very closely to what I'm saying. Keep your eyes shut too. And stay still." His voice then took on a wistful tone, mimicking the one he had heard from the wolf. "You are in the sky. You are lying on a cloud. Feel the cloud. Ommmm... You see somebody. It is your mommy. You feel relaxed. Ommm... Now you are an owl. Ommm... And now you are human. Ommm... Feel yourself changing... Let yourself change... Now open your eyes."

He really hoped it worked.

"Ommm... ommm...." This is werid, Arjean thought to themself as they held their eyes closed. They couldn't tell if this was a weird game Theo was playing to make them feel better, or if it was something from his culture he was trying on them. When they were thinking about being in the sky and on the clouds their wings shook, same with being an owl, and for a moment they almost did shape-shift. Their body began to slow and was about to take on a liquid-like form, but it was stopped when he mentioned turning into a human. Instead, Arjean couldn't help but let out a small giggle at that. So it was something from his culture he was trying to apply to them.

"I cannot be a human," they laughed. "You did help. Wanna do something else?" they continued, hoping they didn't make Theo sad. He seemed pretty hopeful that this would work, and to an extent, it did. Instead of turning back to their two-legged form, they nearly turned back into an owl. That would have just made the situation worse since they were smaller and couldn't speak in that form.

As Theo waited for Arjean to change, as he was sure they would, he grew increasingly doubtful. Was the man not as wise as he had thought? Was he crazy and weird like the grown-ups had warned him? But... He was always so calm!

When Arjean giggled, Theo sighed. It mustn't have worked! They had broken concentration. But this feeling of defeat was quickly replaced by confusion. Why would they be laughing when they were crying just moments ago? His question was answered soon enough. How could he have done that? He had become so immersed in copying the old wolf that he had mistaken Arjean's forms for his own! Back in the tribe, the man had tried to make Theo turn to wolf or human forms. He had let his friend down, for possibly a long time. This was not good!

"I'm so, so, so sorry!" Theo said apologetically. His eyes fell to the ground and his shoulders slumped. His pointy ears may have also drooped a little bit. "I got confused- I forgot- I-" He stuttered, but was cut off by Arjean telling him he helped. Puzzled, he raised his eyes and he frowned. "How?" He asked curiously. It didn't work. How did it help? "But I will do something else?" He offered.

It was funny seeing how confused Theo was, especially when there wasn't that big of an issue for him to start apologizing so much. He only got confused, so why was he apologizing like he was going to be punished? Were they supposed to punish him? They were never told to by their mommies, and they weren't given directions on how to. That was probably because it wasn't something they were approved to be doing, especially since they would get in trouble sometimes for copying what their mommies did on animals.

Arjean looked around, still quiet about their response to Theo. They were trying to make sure there wasn't too much attention on them, especially after their crying and Theo's apologizing. It still felt weird having their body in their cerivtaur form when in public, but at least Theo didn't mind it too much. It was comfortable too... as long as they ignored all the anxiety they had about others mocking them it.

"Um... let's do... something else..." they suggested again, though a bit more forceful with a tremble to their voice. Smiling felt a bit harder to do now, but they still kept a small one on their face and held their eyes shut. They probably came off like they had a very modest and reserved look, yet they weren't too sure if they looked nervous or not.. When they slowly looked up at Theo after they finished looking around they covered their cheeks to hide the blueness covering their face and asked, "Uh... what can you do? ...Uh, powers and.. um... talents?" It was hard to shake the feeling of nervousness off of their back, despite feeling more confident earlier when Theo was apologizing. Maybe it was easier to feel more confident when he wasn't. Everyone on the islands had amazing powers though, and were more diverse than on Ilada, so maybe Theo had cool powers to show off. Then again, Arjean liked the idea of them being able to show off their own cool powers more.
