Build: Lean. Rather weak.
Notable Features: Left-handed. Walks with an obvious limp in his right leg and uses a cane. Not usually visible, but has a deep scar on his right thigh and across his torso. Noticeable difficulty breathing.

What would other characters know about you?
Is known to be very discreet. Treats all patients equally. Is a very skilled doctor, despite his infirmity. This grants him some protection from most ruffians. The loss of his wife does not -publicly- appear to have affected him. Is known to be compassionate and willing to barter, although he still must make a living. A definite soft spot for women and children.

For Contest Entries Only:

- Personality-wise, William is very similar to pre-wraith William - Calm, kind, compassionate. Struggles with a deep depression. He has a deep hatred for the Fire Eaters, but he hides it well. No-one is aware of this fact, aside from the few he has killed.

- Physically - He is in almost constant dull pain because of some nerve damage in both his leg and chest. He cannot move very fast, has difficulty breathing, and tires easily.

- Important facts -
A capable doctor, William believed that everyone deserved fair treatment. He was openly neutral, and although he disapproved of banditry, he made it clear that his clinic was a place where anyone could receive medical attention. This has allowed him to make a few important contacts, especially among the bandits.

His wife was attacked by a Fire Eater. William was severely wounded defending her, and though he killed the one responsible, he was not able to save her.

This attack convinced him he could no longer be neutral about the Fire Eaters, that he would hurt them as they had hurt him. But he was aware he must be discreet. He still accepts all patients, yet is sure to cause unnecessary pain to any he discovers to be one of them. Although, not so much as to be discovered, after all, healing sometimes involves pain. He has used his contacts to be sure that he does continue to receive patients from them. And when he has been able to do so without raising suspicions he has killed a few. People trust the doctor and in this place, not everyone is guaranteed to survive a wound. There is no reason to suspect he is not trying his best.

Name: Valentine "Vals" Meier
Age: 14
Gender: Assigned female, Male-presenting
Profession: Assistant and Errand boy. Valentine works as an assistant to one of the Haven's doctors but when they're not on call, he goes out running errands and doing odd jobs.

Height: 5'8ft
Build: Skinny, not skin an bones skinny but he's very slim. Doesn't look like he eats enough despite the rations. He's built some muscle from work but that ain't enough for a growing boy.
Notable Features: Vals looks more like he's wearing rags than actual clothes if it weren't for the shape. His set of clothes come with the default shirt and shorts, socks and boots so he wouldn't step on broken glass and hurt himself. He wears a very large trench coat that seems a little too big for him, a long scarf and a newsboy cap over his head. He has some scars on the sides of his face, possibly from work, along with a few fresh cuts around his arms all covered in strips of cloth every other day.

What would other characters know about you?

Vals is known to be the city's all around errand boy over being a doctor's assistant. Due to this, most people tend to underestimate his education. True, he didn't get through formal schooling but with only the gift of reading and writing, he's well read on his own. Though one thing for sure, the people of Haven know this boy knows the city better than anyone else. A lot of people know him, mostly those who could pay for labor — some few may have him as a favorite. Not everyone seems to approve of a lanky 14-year-old running around doing heavy tasks but he doesn't let it get to him despite the fact it affects some possible clients.

History : Vals remains an orphan in this version though the causes differ. His mother died of illness when he was 7 and he got separated from his father when their caravan got ambushed only two years later, leaving him essentially orphaned at the age of 9. Vals escaped with the rest of the group who later sought refuge in a nearby settlement (which turns out to be Haven) but he never heard of his father since. From here he built up himself on his own, despite the struggle--possibly due to the lack of resource, no one really wanted to take him in and even if they did, they couldn't really support him or feed him right so he decided to support himself. It was only recently that he was taken under wing by a doctor, give or take a few months and he's been learning from him since.

Personality : Valentine maintains most of his personality as the original with only slight alterations due from the difference in their life experience. He keeps his strong will to live which keeps both version going despite their corresponding issues. Valentine would be somewhat more practical and a little less easy to anger. He's not necessarily quieter but he at least thinks twice before pulling punches and throwing insults, learning to weigh his choices a few seconds longer first before speaking out. His interests remain the same, and he's just as mature as he could get as his original counterpart. He's a little more trusting, but just as much as one can go with a setting like this. He's a little more put together aside from the times the memory of having to see his mother die in such fashion haunts him at night — but this seems to become his drive to save lives.

Pandora the Cannibal Queen

Pan has few abnormal or noticeable features aside from her red hair and pale skin. She does have several scars along her ribs from the ritualistic cutting of her own flesh.

What would other characters know about you?
Much of Pandora is shrouded in secrecy. Many stories exist about her, whether they are true or not is up for debate. One of the things that are certainly true, is her love for human flesh. Pandora is a Cannibal and will eat anyone unfortunate enough to wet her appetite. She has killed and eaten Fire Eaters and Havenites alike.

It is widely rumored that she practices witchcraft and has the favor of the old Gods(Obviously these are just stories, many of which come from her followers). She does, however, have a natural talent for mixing plants and found chemicals to create various potions ranging from hallucinogens to adrenaline, and poisons.

She likes to tell stories of the of gods, that she claims to speak to. It's hard to tell if she is simply telling tales, or is under the influence of her own product so to speak. Despite that, her followers believe without question that she is in touch with higher powers.

She is shrewd, cunning, ambitious and incredibly playful. She is known to have a temper and has held grudges for long times. She will do anything to achieve her goals. Cross her at your own risk.

-History-
Pandora was originally named Abigale Crowley. But changed her name after the death of her parents when she was taken in by the fire-eaters. Before everything went to hell, however, she had what most would call a normal and happy childhood. Her mother was a botanist who studied local plant life, while her father was a chemist. Being a curious little girl she spent a lot of time in her youth with them learning about their jobs, and developing basic skills in each field.

After her parent's death, she spent her time with the Fire Eaters practicing. Using her understanding of local plant life, and chemicals she was able to make painkillers and other things that made her more useful once traditional medication ran out.

As the years went on she began to fall into her own little niche, developing a violent streak, and eventually a taste for human flesh. Her mixtures also began to improve and before long she was making specialized mixes for a few of her "Friends". Slowly her influence grew within the fire eaters till a small select number had pledged their loyalties to her and her alone. She encouraged them to be violent and rewarded acts of extreme violence with stimulants and other drugs.

After the death of her father, Pan started to carry around a skull wherever she went. Some say it's the skull, of her father, a fact to which she will confirm if asked, and a few others suggest that she carries it as a trophy because she killed her father. Needless to say her behavior with the skull is unsettling at best. She will often talk to it, and carry things inside it. Sometimes she even leaves it places and insists that it's watching something for her.

-Personality-
Cruel, Violent, manipulative, shrewd, cunning, Sadistic. Much the same as her former self, with only a few minor variations to account for life experiences.

It's easy enough to see that the chaotic life of death and destruction has had an effect on Pan's mind. In fact, one can easily say, and believe that she is unhinged, to say the least. She tends to have bouts of emotional shifts similar to that of Bipolar, however, that is where the similarities end. She is entirely in control of her emotional state, and when she does flip the script, that is by her own volition entirely.

-FYI-
While Pan may not look it, she is a dangerous person. She kills without warning, and seemingly without reason. On her at all times are several poison dipped bones and needles that she uses to subdue victims and opponents alike. She also tends to carry a ritual Dagger strapped to her thigh, ready to be used in a moments notice to sacrifice a victim to the gods, or just cut out a tongue.

Being skilled in mixing drugs and poisons means she usually always has a vial of this or a pouch of that on her to be used at her own discretion.

Name: Jake “Wolfrunner” Machin
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Profession: Helps protect the city

Height: 5 foot 10
Build: Fairly skinny but is toned from a lot of running and fighting. He doesn’t eat an awful lot so he has a relatively small amount of fat.
Notable Features: Jake had an encounter with a wolf that left him with scars along the front right side of his neck that resemble a bite mark with numerous scratches around it. He usually covers his neck and mouth with a black scarf.

What would other characters know about you?
Not a lot is known about Jake, he doesn’t like to tell people about himself or what he’s experienced. He doesn’t even tell people his real name so the nickname “Wolfrunner” stuck since he has scars from his run in with a wolf. The very small information people know about him is that he is highly skilled with a bow and arrow and is fairly decent with a dagger that he carries around with him. He is also very good towards children and will help always find a way to help them if they are in need of his services. Adults on the other hand, they are left to fend for themselves. People may also be wary of him since he was not born in Haven but in fact came from outside it’s boundaries.

This version of Jake is very cold towards people and does not say much to anyone. He’d rather be left alone and is quite practical rather than cracking stupid jokes and falling behind in all of his classes. He also does not care what people think about him; doing what he wants, when he wants. Not lacking confidence in himself, he is open about his sexuality and is not modest about his capabilities but will not mention anything that is beyond his limits – it makes him look ‘weaker’.

Unlike his canon counterpart, Jake’s parents did not die when he was very young but he would much rather that they did. They are members of the Fire Eaters, as was Jake, until he watched them do unspeakable things and realised how wrong they were. Upon noticing this, he ran away from them and went to Haven where he has been ever since. This disgrace towards his parents drives an overall hatred towards the Fire Eaters and will show little mercy when it comes to them threatening him or a child. His inability to control his anger at times will also cause him to do things that he later regrets but will not admit it. The things he has witnessed changed his overall outlook on the world and showed how twisted the human race is, almost giving up on his species entirely.

Since he does not have supernatural capabilities, he has the strength of the average teenage boy, if not a slightly bit more. He is still nimble and can run quite fast. His hair is left to its natural state: wavy and messy and not taking much pride in his appearance.

Name: Harriet "Hats" Sinclaire
Age: 34 but looks 10
Gender: Female
Profession: Raider, smuggler

Notable Features:

Harriet "Hats" Sinclaire

Looks much younger than she is, due to hypopituitarism. Several thin scars across her face and burn scars on her hands. Is always wearing some kind of headgear due to severe burns on her skull.

What would other characters know about you?
Not much is known about Harriet. She keeps to herself with her husband, Sam, who she pretends is her brother on their raids. It would be better to say that people knew of their work, rather than their persons. She tricks people with her innocent, child-appearing self (generally coming off as a child in need) and robs them blind, often ruthlessly murdering them. Harriet and Sam are the world's new Bonnie and Clyde, but they don't plan to go up in flames.

Known to most of Haven as "The Sharks" for their sudden on slaughter and disappearing act. No one knows who they are by face alone, as there has yet to be one survivor of their attacks.

Known to few, Harriet is experienced in the creation of poisons, which she uses in many of her attacks. Around Haven, many know her as a skilled herbalist who will trade medicine or doctoring for supplies or information.

Canonically, Hattie is not only an alien but generally considered crazy in a 'fun' or 'cute' way. Even her ruthlessness can be regarded as harmless. In this AU, we're exploring a much more ruthless and serious Hattie as Harriet, based more on the parts of her that most don't get to see.

Whereas Hattie is clingy, affectionate, and possessive Harriet is all about the thrill. The next swindle. The next murder. She's a born survivor with manipulative tendencies and a predatory core. While canonically Hattie's head/hair is her physical weakness, Harriet's entire body would be considered a disadvantage. In both cases, the character has spun their disadvantage into an upper hand.

Hattie's family and friends were killed by space pirates, in this rendition much the same happened to Harriet, but with very different results. Assumed to be a child, she was sold off in a trade, where she was given the majority of her scars, including the burns on her head. She escaped with the help of Sam, where they quickly teamed up and became inseparable.

As a survivor, Hattie's viciousness is swift and humanlike, where her counterparts is more curious animal.

Also note that Hattie would never wear a hat, as it would harm her. Harriet is known for never taking hers off.

Notable Features:

Other than the redhead band and face paint he has smudged all over his face, there are a few scars here and there. He has the eyes of a crazy man and always smells like burnt flesh or just smoky.


What would other characters know about you?

Dex is the mad bandit. Pretty crazy guy who likes blowing things and people up and stabbing them with a rusty knife named Bessie.

He was a Fire Eater for years. He was their main explosive hype guy until new management came in. Yeah he didn't like the new leader it was something about her hair….anyway he just left and stole one of her most prized treasures and left a doodle of him stealing it.

Dex created his own gang after that. “The Mutherfuckers of The Badlands.” Now this here is a crazy bunch. Literally full of people who hate the fire eaters, completely insane, or just a bunch of rowdy teens. Its just something about The Mutherfuckers that just shouts fun.

Anywho other than basically warring with the Fire Eaters, The Mutherfuckers are actually a bit more welcomed in Haven. They usually just pull crazy public stunts to keep up spirits or whatever though don't let their happy nature fool you.

Given the chance you could find yourself somewhere in the middle of nowhere with nothing but the skin on your back.

Well firstly it's just Dex and its not short for anything unless you call him by his nickname “Dextroyer” Unlike Desmond who changed his name, Dex only ever have been called Dex.

Dex has no family, he was practically just picked up by some Fire Eater one day he wanted to keep a baby for the ultimate distraction getaway. He never got a chance to use baby Dex tho….

Dex is actually way more wild, careless, and carefree than actually Desmond. Dex is always on an adrenaline high and wants to just blow shit up.

If Desmond wasn't as chill as he is and practically went insane you would get Dex.
You see Dex has no chill. He has no reason to be chilled because the world is crazy so he might as well be crazy too.

Another thing to note is Dex likes explosions and watching things burn while Desmond doesn't like fire….since he’s a moth.

Notable Features: Patches of burn marks reaching just past her wrists and ankles. Tends to dress eccentrically, over-accessorizing and wearing clothes as colorful as they come.

What would other characters know about you?

Local pyromaniac. Might be a little crazy, but isn’t everyone? Very loud and boisterous, usually gets along with most people. Quick, smart. Doesn’t like to talk about the Fire Eaters, but has a deep hatred for them. Showed up in Haven a few years ago. Can salvage, fix, and alter scavenged clothes. Semi-skilled in sewing clothes from scratch if she can get materials.

Lucia was born to Fire Eater parents. Both survived to raise her, but she was also brought up by their gang. She was supposed to be a Fire Eater. Growing up, she began to realize that their way of life wasn’t something she wanted to be a part of. She knew she needed to leave, so when she was 13, she ran away from them and started a new life.

This version of Lucia won’t let the secret of her past come out if she can help it, trying to distance herself from the Fire Eaters as much as she can. Due to their negative public image and general acts of atrocity, she doesn’t feel guilty for hating them, but she does struggle knowing that she came from them. However, she’s still her happy-go-lucky self, even if her outlook on life might be tinged with realism.

Her hair is always its natural brown color - why bother with hair dye in the wasteland? - and she usually wears it up in a ponytail. She has a tendency to set things on fire. When she does, it’s usually piles of trash, dead shrubbery, etc. She tries to keep it contained to areas where it won’t cause massive damage, but fire isn’t the easiest thing to control. She’s bothered by the cold, and actually rather enjoys the constant heat of the desert. Additionally, she doesn’t know how to swim.

Name: Sam "Imp" Sinclaire
Age: 35 appears 10

Profession: Raider, smuggler

Build: small/fit
Notable Features:

Sammy

He's covered in nasty scars and burns, wears his hair in dreadlocks and his teeth are actually filed to points. Most people wouldn't even know because of the suit and mask he wears. There are rumors that he has an impressive stash of weapons and gadgets hidden underneath his cloak when he goes out on raids.
What would other characters know about you?
In terms of their personal history, not much is known about Sam and his wife. They're better known for their raids as "The Sharks". Outside of Haven they act like lost or orphaned children in order to get caravans and at times other raiders to lower their guards. Of course no one actually knows it was them due to the simple fact that they leave no survivors. Of course taking anything valuable that they happen to find in the process.

Sam is known for his knack for creating nasty traps on the fly as well as an ability to restore salvaged machines, making him fairly valued around town. He trades his services for goods and information.



For Contest Entries Only:
Unlike his Starlight Academy counterpart, Sam's knack for mischief making stems from a need for survival. The demon Sazz's primary motivation is boredom since quitting his job as a tormentor in the hell he hails from. He's small, hyperactive, and generally an annoying menace. Sam Sinclair was effectively raised by a group of raiders who had no room for dead weight. He quickly put his sharp with to use creating traps, repairing the rigs, and other such tasks. He's much more serious and ruthless when it comes to survival.
Sazz can turn most physical altercations around he gets into just by shifting into the form of a much larger demon. Sam lacks any of these qualities being a human with hypopituitarism. This doesn't make him any less of a threat though. His lack of stature is one of his greatest advantage as he quickly learned. And that's earned him the nickname Imp, unlike his counterpart who is an actual imp. Sazz effectively hung out with Hattie and her pirate crew for a time while Sam sick and tired of their cruel treatment, helped Hariet escape her captors. The two have since become inseperable.
One final note, Sazz wears a jump suit and hoodie. Due to his disfigurement, and nature of his occupation Sam wears a full on mask and uses a cloak to hide the various weapons he has hidden.
