Name: Khlu L’thoo Hu
Age: Ageless
Birthday: Irrelevant
Gender: Agender
Species: Eldritch (Cthulhu)
Category: Citizen
Career: Claims to be a researcher, has a part-time job at a local cafe

Appearance Description
Khlu is a Cthulhu, a species that is a cross between a man, an octopus, and a dragon. Khlu’s human and octopus side are more dominant, with his draconic features being less prominent. His body is humanoid. He has an average build, not too skinny but not too muscular, either. He stands at 5’11”, a very small size for someone of his species. Of course, Khlu is far from human looking. His skin is green, and on his back he has small dragon wings. His face resembles that of an octopus. Tentacles cover the spot where his mouth should be, reaching down to his shoulders. His eyes are gold and small, though they appear larger thanks to his glasses.

Khlu likes to dress fancily, no matter the occasion. He owns an extensive collection of multicolored suits and ties. Most of the time, he ends up mixing the colors around, such as pairing green pants with a salmon top and a purple tie. His sense of style can also be a bit dated at times, as he possesses vests, tailcoats, and canes. In conclusion, if you looked in his wardrobe, you could sort out a timeline of men’s formalwear trends dating as far back as the 18th century.

Personality Description
Khlu likes to think of himself as a Very Intelligent Researcher Person™, when in actuality, he isn’t smart at all. He’s still new to this world, and he’s very interested in learning about all there is to it. However, he thinks that he knows more than he does, and he acts like he always knows exactly what he is talking about.

You could call that Khlu's arrogance. He has a sort of god complex, thinking that he cannot do wrong. This way of thinking most likely stems from the fact that he is a literal descendant of a deity. This doesn’t excuse his actions, as he does make frequent mistakes. Khlu’s “High-and-Mighty” mindset can also be applied to the way he thinks of his species and homeland. He holds both of them in high regard and is too stubborn to admit that they have their own flaws.

Still, Khlu’s a curious soul. Deep down he realizes that the world he’s living in now is not what he expected. There’s so much that baffles him, like modern technology or apples. In a sense, he’s naive because of his lack of experience. He may be prone to touching things that he shouldn’t, but at least he’s dedicated to his “research”!

Speaking of his research, it would probably go a lot smoother if Khlu wasn’t such an unorganized mess. His apartment is littered with clothes, notes, and strange specimens. It isn’t just his apartment that’s unorganized, either. Khlu doesn’t plan anything he does, preferring to go with the flow and think things up on the spot. And while someone more neurotic would be stressing out over an unclean room or a lack of having any schedule, he is unfazed.

Things like stress or anxiety don't seem to affect Khlu. He is rarely seen expressing any extreme emotions, like anger, sadness, or excitement. Most of the time he just stays neutral and unexpressive.

All in all, Khlu is very curious about the world. Though he refuses to admit it out loud, he’s inexperienced and he doesn’t know what he’s doing, but he also refuses to give up his Earthen studies, in the name of research!

Powers
Camouflage
Khlu can camouflage himself, blending in with the rest of his surroundings. His powers can’t be categorized as complete invisibility, as a keen eye could pick out where he truly is, but they are a kind of stealth. They could fool those who aren’t expecting it. What Khlu really does when he turns invisible is manipulate his chromatophores, his cells that are in charge of his skin pigmentation. He changes color to blend in with his surroundings. It works best if he’s against some sort of surface, like a wall. If he’s in the middle of the street or a crowd, changing color would be ineffective. It’s harder to see him in places with dim lighting.

Species Abilities
Immortality
Khlu cannot be truly defeated. Whenever he “dies,” he physical form reapparates back in the sunken underwater kingdom of R’lyeh.

Hovering
Though Khlu does not have the ability of true flight, he can use his small wings to hover in the air. Doing this requires his wings to support the rest of his body, which exhausts him quickly, so he needs to be in good physical condition. This doesn’t serve much of a purpose when he is on land since he can only hover a few inches in the air, but he can use it while he is already in the air in order to descend slower.

Water-Breathing
Khlu can breathe underwater for indefinite amounts of time.

Fire-Breathing
Khlu can’t breathe fire, but he does burp flames.

Biography
Years ago, the old deity, the legendary Cthulhu, came to Earth with its original offspring. Though history doesn’t tell the exact details of what happened to Cthulhu, what is known is that its offspring ended up retreating to the lost underwater city, R’lyeh. That is where they began to breed, and soon R’lyeh grew to become a civilization populated by the spawn of Cthulhu.

Khlu was born in R’lyeh. Growing up, he studied multiple Earthen cultures and became infatuated with them, which eventually inspired him to travel to the surface, where he washed up on the shores of Manta Carlos Island. Here, he found many creatures he was unfamiliar with, creatures that did not seem to be of this Earth according to the ancient texts of R’lyeh. Sadly, the texts of R’lyeh did not have much of a factual basis to begin with, but Khlu didn’t know any better. He was left on an island surrounded by unknown people, places, and things. That was why he decided to become a self-proclaimed researcher to find out more about the Earth and this unknown island that he found himself on.

Additional Information:

  • He may or may not own multiple apple specimens for his own personal research.
