André's primary appearance is a skinny teen male of average height (5'4) with naturally tan skin. In this main form, he usually has brown eyes and spiky black hair with red tips. Some days he'll only change his appearance once or twice, maybe changing hairstyle up a bit more than that, but some days he'll change completely every hour, and not just for pranks.
His clothing style varies a lot, trying to settle on one style, but even more indecisive than he is with his body. He usually carries a backpack with at least three changes of clothes. Because André can change his features at will, he doesn't need makeup, and tries to avoid using it unless he's disguising himself as someone who does. He has a bellybutton piercing because it feels more permanent, and it's easy enough to hide or remove if he needs to.
André's voice remains similar in his different forms, but does change based on body shape. He's also trained to alter his voice without shifting, and can put on certain accents. He usually speaks with a light Portuguese accent. This boy has some energy and is a fidgety hand-talker when he's relaxed.

Identity issues are a big thing with André. He's not really sure of his gender or who he is, and is always trying to discover himself. Even though he's genderfluid, they/them pronouns feel too impersonal and make him feel uncomfortable.
Although André didn't have a real childhood once AEGIS recruited him he tries not to let it get him down. Overall, he's a friendly prankster with a good sense of humour. A consummate actor, he sometimes struggles to be honest, but his lies are not malicious or manipulative. He also has a tendency to overshare personal details with friends because he gets nervous they won't know it's him.
He hangs stars from his ceiling so he can "see the sky" even when he's inside. And paints them with glow paint because he's still a little afraid of the dark. He enjoys astronomy, but only as a hobby. He also likes model airplanes, ones that actually fly, and paper airplanes. He's a good student who works hard, but he's not particularly into it, a B average student. He enjoys science more than magic, specifically physics. Sometimes he wishes his shifting allowed him to grow wings because he would love to be able to fly. And his dream is to become a pilot of some kind, though he's not sure if he'd rather air or space.

Human Shifting - Can change age, sex, voice to some extent, anything with human physiology, but nothing unnatural like tails or wings or adding tattoos. Injuries, illness, disease still carry over, but he doesn't scar, and is not able to imitate scars. Shifting takes time, and he must study a person well to imitate specific people. He can stay in alternate forms for a long time, 2-3 hours depending on how different they are, even longer if not imitating anyone in particular, before shifting back into his "main form", but that form is slightly different each time he shifts (things most people wouldn't notice, like a freckle in a different spot or slightly longer toes. Only changing one small thing like hair or eye colour can be done indefinitely. The more he varies his size/age the less time he can spend. He cannot shrink more than half his body weight or grow more than twice it. He can increase in strength by growing his muscles, but nothing inhumanly strong. Both putting on a lot of weight or losing it takes a heavy toll on his body, tiring him, and he will need to eat a lot more than usual/drink water or risk dehydration and malnutrition.

Biography:
Born on an alternate Earth, in Halcyon City to two Portuguese immigrants, André was an only child in a pretty standard middle class family. He was born with his ability, and it developed pretty early on. His parents were a little put off at first having a child who seemed to change their gender at the drop of a hat, and could change their sex too, as well as taking copying their friends to the extreme. In spite of this, André had a very close relationship with both his parents, and they were pretty much the only people who were able to recognize him through drastic appearance changes.
At 10 years old, Chameleon was taken in by a government agency called AEGIS to be trained to be a spy. His parents were proud, and he still saw them. But the program was basically an intense boarding school. Chameleon had years of training, no normal childhood, and was treated by portions of the staff as an asset rather than a kid.
Things went on like that until horrifying monsters known as Gultha began to manifest. The number or nature of the Gultha was unclear, but effectively it was an all hands on deck situation, with anyone who could do anything uniting to take a stand. During this, Chameleon's mom was killed working as a volunteer firefighter, but he didn't have time to grieve.
A literal hellmaw of teeth began to manifest in the sky, and consumed a significant chunk of the planet. All the gultha were killed (generally in large and very flashy ways, such as a chunk of atmosphere getting blasted away), but at great cost. Huge portions of the planet have been entirely wiped out, and Halcyon City is decimated.
About a week after the hellmaw is killed, with maybe 1000 Halycon City survivors, a portal is set up to transport them directly to Manta Carlos. This was after a letter was received from that dimension saying it could be a safe haven, and some people went ahead to scout it out.
André gets enrolled in Starlight Academy, and now he has to readjust to a normal teenage life after having his mother, home, and old life ripped away.
Resources: Lives with his Dad in a cheap apartment. Getting by on government/student help until Dad gets a job.
