Name: Summer McKenzie
Age: 16
Birthday: December 14th
Gender: Female
Category: Student
Class: High School Student
Grade: Standard American grade system
Appearance Description:
From the moment you see her, it's easily distinguished that Summer is no...'normal' girl.
With her mussy, short cropped hair, dirty blonde and tangled with scraps of leaves and leaves that she seems very well content to leave be, it's an obvious, well-known fact that Summer is one of those children possessing an 'eccentric' personality; nowhere does this shine brighter in her appearance.
It seems that she's the type whom simply wants to make a statement the moment she enters the room; the type who relishes in being the center of both good and bad attention. With heavy laden bohemian styled clothes, thick, bright scarfs round around her neck even in the midst of summer, and tiny trinkets she seems to take great pride in, Summer definitely has an unusual style. She loves wearing thick, woolly clothes on hot days, and chilly, gym-type t-shirts when it snows. This is probably the reason why she's so prone to flus and fevers, though she'd never admit that.
She almost looks like a wildgirl, hailing from the very depths of the woods - and, actually, in the right context this could be true! When not at school or with friends she spends most of her time in the forests, hiding in the trees and enjoying the soft evening song of birds.
She has untidy nails and brown skin; her eyes are a deep green, speckled with flecks of an almost oceanic blue. She's very small and short for her age, looking more like a twelve-year old then a developed sixteen year old girl. Naturally she's very conscious about this.
Personality Description:
Perhaps she is too flighty. Perhaps she is too hyperactive. Perhaps she is too 'much' for some people, and that is certainly understandable - but above all Summer McKenzie is unashamedly herself, and love her or hate her none can deny that solemn fact.
An odd girl with an even odder disposition, one must only have to look at her and think - 'well, I can tell she's going to be hard to forget.' And that is true. With every first meeting Summer seems to barrel in, loud voice and all, and then barrel out just as fast again. She's a burning ball of endless energy, almost childlike in some ways - a girl whom dreads classes, and loves friendship, fun and mischief. In that sense she is quite simply; she's reckless, rude to authority and often difficult to get along with. She's brimming with passion and often refuses to see things in any other way from her own, whether her opinion be right or wrong. Regardless she's fiercely protective of those younger than her and surprisingly gentle with kids and animals. Be careful befriending her; she'll drag anyone she can into her trouble making schemes. Playful, jumpy and genuine, though Summer would be branded overwhelming to many people others might see her loyal and gentle heart. Indeed, she's a good friend - when she's not digging herself into trouble, that is!
Powers:
--Catlike Appendages-- Now this isn't surprising! Summer has the ability to take on certain physical characteristics' of a cat. For example, many times she's possessed the claws of the cat to help in climbing trees in the forest; other times she has even sprouted tails, to help with balancing in precarious heights; ears, for sensitive hearing; and even cat eyes, to see further than before.
There are limitations to this power however. For example Summer can only have one appendage at a time. She cannot have both ears and a tail all at once. Another limitation is that, with this gift, she often takes on some catlike personality traits; she can become unintentionally flighty, and will often go crazy and sprout ears or a tail at the mere scent of catnip. She has little control over her power, as she's still young and learning how to use it.
--Cat Communicator-- She can speak to housecats. Unsurprisingly, they have nothing interesting to say.
Biography:
It became apparent that something was different about Summer when, at the tender age of two, she proudly told her mother that their recently lost cat - Squirrel - had gone away to die.
Her mother had asked how she'd known that. Summer had simply replied that before ol' Squirrel had left, he'd said to her it was his time to go.
Unnerved, her mother had simply chalked it down to the fascinating imagination of a child; it wasn't unusual for kids to say weird things. As time went on however she'd continued to assert that the cats would speak to her; at seven, when she still seemed to be adamant about her strange ability, her mother had finally had enough.
Taking her to a therapist, Summer was then forced to undergo a trial of psychology and personality tests. 'Why do you have imaginary friends?' they'd ask. 'How does this make you feel?' 'Are you happy at home?'
All because she'd simply told her mother about the conversations she'd had with local cats.
Summer quickly learned that this was not average human before, so she began to feign normality. Her mother seemed to be satisfied that she'd outgrown her silly phase and life went on, with Summer avoiding cats like the plague.
All until the day at school when she sprouted fluffy kitty ears.
It hadn't been a terribly strange day; indeed, she'd gone to class, eaten her lunch, and was just falling asleep in the midst of math. She thought of how wonderful it would be if she could listen to the teacher whilst she took a nap - the perfect way to kill two birds with one stone - when poof! Out the ears came!
Naturally everybody screamed.
That was when Summer was scouted by Starlight Academy. Finally learning that she wasn't just weird, she was 'gifted' she began to feel at peace with her abilities. As such, when she started going to school there she realized she no longer had to hide her true self; she decided to be who she wanted to be, no matter how crazy, or ludicrous, the person she discovered was. This became the bubbly, hyperactive Summer that we know today.
