Since he was brought up in a high society household he is very firm in good manners. Though he might seem passive or even timid he is mostly just holding himself back to please others. He smiles a lot, listens and affirms others in their believes.
In reality Nicholas is incredibly judging. Whatever you do or say he remembers it and will judge you in silence. He dislikes things that aren't 'normal' which is why he is distrustful towards magical beings. He also has build up a good amount of self-hate.

It's as basic as it sounds. Nicholas is able to make any part of his body glow. Theoretically, that is. But since he is not able to control his powers they are triggered by emotions such as fear, sadness or anger.
The light also exudes warmth. That is all, as far as he knows.

As the son of a politician Nicholas had learned from a young age how to behave. Though his father never hit him he had a really dictatorial upbringing with his father in the center of his life. It was always essential in his life to please him and to not be an embarrassment. Whenever he failed his father locked him up in a small, dark room to 'think about what he did'. As a consequence Nicholas developed Nyctophobia, a fear of the darkness.
Other than that his family had a really unstable life. His mother saw the abuse and wanted to do something against it but made a pact with him that he wouldn't say anything about the affair she had since years if she stayed out of how he raised the children. So she started to keep out of her families life to the point that she decided she no longer belonged there. She divorced her husband and left with her new boyfriend. This started a controversy in the media and his father started to lose his temper more often.
The first time Nicholas discovered his power was when his father started to abuse his power. By threats and guilt tripping he got his son to do anything he wanted. One day he had a panic attack in the closet he was locked in when his hands started glowing.
He isn't sure how to feel about his powers. They do freak him out since they aren't normal, but at the same time they help him overcome his phobia.
