Appearance Description: At first glance Kyo's regular form seems to be a fairly unassuming cat person. Yellow eyes with slit pupils, sharp teeth, cat ears, et cetera. Still somewhat small even for her age, the only notable part of her appearance seems to be the green streak in her hair. On closer inspection, though, some of these traits are decidedly not feline. Her eyes are much closer to an alligator's and her teeth are all the same size and wicked conical shape, betraying her reptilian DNA.
Kyo's other form, however, has been described with words ranging from 'unsettling' to 'abomination'. Her entire body becomes covered in either a thin covering of black fur or sickly green scales, though which of these appears seems to change every time she transforms. Her left arm from the elbow down becomes somewhat analogous to a crocodile skull with her fingers attached to the upper jaw and her thumb on the lower while her right arm's skeleton rearranges and extends into a pterosaur wing. Both of her hands become much more powerful feline claws (including a very long sickle-like claw on the end of the finger that creates her wing). She gains a tail which splits into two roughly half way down, one ending in spikes like a stegosaurus and the other in a club like an ankylosaurus. Her legs also change to larger, stronger Tyrannosaurus legs and give her a slight bump to her height, which is helped by the Ceratopsian crest and horns that appear on her head.
Personality Description: Kyo is a troubled child. She lashes out both verbally and physically, sometimes to dangerous effect due to her power. She's heavily mistrusting of any adults and becomes very upset at any negative mention of her father. Under it all she's a kind child and doesn't really want to hurt anyone, but she has no idea how to process what she's going through.
Active Abilities:
Mesozoic Horror Show - The only power Kyo has that she's able to control is when she does or doesn't transform. She's significantly faster and stronger than usual when she's transformed, more like the physical attributes of a bear than a ten year old child.
Passive Abilities:
Altered DNA - Kyo's transformation isn't the only part of her affected by her genetic modifications. She has greatly enhanced senses, being able to see in the dark, smell, hear, and keep her balance far better than a normal human, though this comes at a cost. Kyo requires significantly more food than the average person of her age and size, 85 percent of which must be meat for her to stay adequately nourished.
Biography: Kyo Tatsuzaki was created out of love and fear. Her father, when he was a boy, lost his younger sister to a tragic murder. While he managed to move past his grief, that trauma never left Dr. Tatsuzaki. Every new person in his life was someone he was terrified he could lose at a moment's notice.
That's why when he and his wife- a former colleague of his- decided to have a child together they agreed to make sure that nothing would ever be able to happen to them. Their method to achieve this? Secret genetic modifications to their own reproductive cells. The first few attempts used only dinosaur DNA, resulting in none of the embryos managing to take. Growing increasingly frustrated, Dr. Tatsuzaki theorized that he needed something mammalian for the experiments to be a success.
By adding feline DNA he and his wife finally managed to engineer an embryo that she could carry to term and nine months later, on one of the happiest days of their lives, the Tatsuzakis welcomed Kyo into the world. Three days after that, however, Kyo's mother would die, likely due to complications around Kyo's birth. Wracked by another horrific loss, Dr. Tatsuzaki doubled down on his determination to never let anything happen to his daughter.
The two were thought of as the model for how a grieving father should raise his child. He was always attentive and the two of them loved each other. Everything fell apart when Kyo was eight years old.
Following what was meant to be her last modification Kyo was suddenly unable to return to her fully human form, stuck with her transformed eyes, teeth, and ears. There was no way for Dr. Tatsuzaki to keep it a secret anymore. When it came out that he had been secretly experimenting on his daughter from before her birth his reputation was rightfully ruined. He was sent to jail immediately and poor Kyo was caught up in all of it.
The once bright, happy girl had the life that to her had been perfect ripped away from her in an instant, all because- at least in her mind- she couldn't keep the secret she'd promised her father she would. Now, all of a sudden, she was in a new house full of strangers with everyone telling her how awful her father was and how sorry they were for her.
Kyo became withdrawn and prone to outbursts, made even worse by her transformation powers and immense strength in her alternate form. During the years after the incident she has remained at the same foster home, lacking in role models due to her rejection of almost all of them for not being her father.
