Appearance Description: Champierrot is easy to mistake for a human at first, but on closer inspection what appears to be clown makeup is actually a multicoloured skin, though closer in texture to a mushroom than a mammal, complete with a small red and white spotted mushroom cap on the tip of his nose. Aside from his face his body is entirely white, though he usually wears bright red and white clothing generated from his own cells and styled after a medieval jester, though he replaces the pointed hat with a large spotted mushroom cap. He also has a thick head of curly red ‘hair’ formed out of mycelium. Champierrot is fairly short, thin, and almost never seen without a wide grin on his face.
Personality Description: Champierrot is a bright, friendly person. His purpose at heart is to make people smile, but he isn’t always the most cognisant of whether or not it’s appropriate to try and lighten a situation. Additionally, due to how relatively difficult it is to actually harm him, he has poor self-preservation skills and is also somewhat naive and easy to take advantage of.
Active Abilities:
Mushroom Generation - Provided he is aware of the species, Champierrot can generate around an average armful of any type of mushroom, though the more he creates the longer it takes him before he can use this ability again.
Mushroom Cap (And Shirt, And Pants, And...) - Champierrot can produce clothing out of the same matter as the rest of his body, which separate from him once they're fully formed. This gives him some control over his outwards appearance.
Passive Abilities:
A Really Fun-gi - Champierrot is made of magic fungal cells. As a result of this his body reacts to physical trauma similar to rubber, making him extremely durable on account of being so damn bouncy and stretchy. Additionally, he can eat almost anything provided it decays and he is immune to fungus-based or derived toxins.
Weaknesses: Vinegar will cause acid-like burns on his skin.
Biography: Near the end of his life, a wizard by the name of Stephen Jacques was struck by both a sudden loneliness and an inability to perform all the duties needed for one to live alone. With no family to speak of and little options for a live in nurse in a small New Brunswick town, Jacques turned to magic to solve his problems.
Using his magic (and a large collection of fungal cells gathered from mushrooms, molds, and the like), Jacques created Champierrot- a companion and helper for his later years. Modeled after a medieval harlequin, the golem was charged with everyday tasks like cooking, cleaning, and arranging Jacques' materials as expected, but was primarily made to help with the old wizard's loneliness by entertaining him.
While Champierrot never left the house due to a combination of disinterest and Jacques' desire to keep his existence a secret, he was kept aware of the outside world by his master for a purpose that wasn't made clear until the last few months of Jacques' life.
Champierrot was not only made to serve Jacques. He was created with every intention of making sure he would last even after the old wizard's death. His cultural education was to make sure that he could function on his own when he was sent away. Jacques' last words to Champierrot- the young man he considered nearly a son at this point- were instructions for him to move to Manta Carlos and continue doing what he's always done. Be kind and make others smile.
Resources: Champierrot is completely destitute, not that it's a very big deal for him. He has no money, no possessions, and he sleeps in the woods because he is a mushroom.
