Appearance Description: Hadley is 6'1 with green eyes and fair skin, covered in numerous scars and two tattoos- one of the album art for Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side Of The Moon' on the right side of his chest and one that said 'Póg Mo Thóin' on his right thigh His hair is dull brown with specks of grey, reaching down to neck length, and he usually has anywhere from a day to a week's worth of salt and pepper stubble. He's still built very well, mainly due to the benefits gained from his powers. Hadley's 'work uniform' is almost identical to a priest's cassock, the only difference being that in place of a cross on the rosary he carries there is a small replica of the holy lance. Additionally, he always wears a black glove over his left hand. His entire left arm and leg and a decent chunk of his left side are completely black, actually being made up of hundreds of small tentacles clumped together.
Personality Description: Hadley is cynical for the most part, but every once in a while his dry humour shows through- something he insists is due to outside influence on him. While he does have a side that cares deeply about those close to him he makes a concerted effort not to let anyone get too close.
Active Abilities:
Arms from Beyond the Stars - The tentacles that make up Hadley's left arm and leg, as well as a significant amount of his body, can change in size and shape, capable of stretching and widening as well as forming mouths, teeth, and eyes.
Passive Abilities:
Influence of an Mysterious Presence - The influence of the being that Hadley made his deal with has given him not only the power to control a facsimile of its form via its black tentacles, but also the ability to operate under extreme duress without mental fatigue and increased strength, stamina, speed, and coordination, as well as slowing his aging slightly. In effect, he's physically closer to a peak mid-20s athlete rather than a 63 year old man missing an arm and a leg. Hadley's powers are not his own, however, and were he to lose his connection with the Mysterious Presence somehow he would be not only without his powers, but without two limbs.
Biography: Brian Hadley's father was a member of the Order of Saint Longinus, a group dealing with supernatural threats that is aligned with the Catholic Church. The order largely operates with the church via members masquerading as visiting priests during their time working. He brought Hadley up from a young age with the expectation that he would eventually follow in his footsteps in joining the order. As a young man he went through a rebellious phase, influenced by a girl he won't mention the name of, who eventually broke his heart by disappearing from his life one day, leading him cynically back to the order.
From that point forward, Hadley dedicated himself to his work entirely. He didn't have any times for friends and barely had any for family, though he did manage to repair his relationship with his father before he died.
After a few years in the service of the order Hadley was gravely injured in the line of duty, losing both his left arm and leg and sustaining massive injuries to the left side of his body. To save himself from dying he made the controversial move of making a desperate deal with an eldritch being known mainly as the Mysterious Presence. The powers afforded to him by the Presence allowed Hadley to continue working long after an order member would usually retire, to the point where, at the age of 60, both the church and the order suggested that he at least end his active touring and settle down somewhere. Hadley begrudgingly agreed and settled himself on the island, though he refused to retire fully and continued to take jobs as an expert rather than an active order member.
Resources: Hadley has a small house that he lives alone in and his income supplemented by a generous semi-retirement pay from the order meant specifically to stop him from returning to full duty.
Additional: Hadley's occupation since moving from the narrow reality to the island has changed- not entirely voluntarily- from actively investigating and fighting monsters to more of an advising role, offering advice and assistance based on his long career.
