"I don't... understand...

"I can't explain--God dammit Addy will you get out of the rain?" Lochlann was frantic, pleading, his fingers twisted uncomfortably like he was clutching onto something.

There was another burst of wind, her voice disappeared under the rain, and Lochlann just said fuck it and ran out.

He wrapped her arms around her in a tight embrace that might have been a little melodramatic--it's only a little rain-- but he was so, so scared.

Just touching her made him feel better--and worse, because of how much better he felt. The rain was streaming down his face, soaking his hair, his skin, making his breath come in short, anguished bursts. He didn't care if she'd hit him or kick him the entire way; Lochlann picked her up and carried her back into the shed.

When they were inside, he would shut the door behind him with his foot, sink down to his knees, and finally let go, his voice saying her name over and over again. "Please stay."

She couldn't pick things up quickly. She was too cold that even her mind was going numb, and to feel someone else's body heat against her, she didn't want to move even an inch away from it. She didn't put up a fight. Her body wanted warmth, and she gave up on it.

Only when she was back inside the shed did she realize that Lochlann had picked her up from the cold. Still trembling, still freezing, she sat on the ground and hugged her knees as close as she could manage and curling up to a ball, hoping to concentrate her body heat to her torso as best as she could.

She heard him in echoes. She heard her name being called in the midst of the strong rainstorm. She looked up, and she realized her body's need to gain even more heat. There. In Lochlann's arms. She wanted a hug. She was soaking wet, water was dripping from her hair strands, her shirt was clinging on her skin irritatingly. She needed warmth.

And with Lochlann pleading for her to stay, why would she have to go away?

"I'll st--stay since... y-you asked..." she managed to say before curling up into an even smaller ball. She shivered, and forced herself to shiver even more, so she could gain some more heat. "Dammit why..! S-s-so... c-c-c-cold..!"

She was scaring him.

She was curled up in such a small, tight ball, shaking and trembling.

She looked delicious.

Lochlann shook his head.

"I'll st--stay since... y-you asked..." she managed to say before curling up into an even smaller ball. She shivered, and forced herself to shiver even more, so she could gain some more heat. "Dammit why..! S-s-so... c-c-c-cold..!"

He was so, so happy she was staying, but he was still scared from the way she was shaking. He came up close to her, his fingers touching the hem of her shirt.

"You're soaking wet, Addy, I'm really serious," he swallowed nervously. "We need to get you out of your clothes. You're going to end up sick."

He hesitated, waiting on the rush of pain that was going to crash into him at any moment and said, his voice desperate, "Addy, I will keep you warm, you just have to get out of these clothes. I promise, I won't...I won't do anything, not if I can help it."

That was a promise he wasn't sure if he could keep, but he distracted himself by grabbing his shirt, which was discarded on the shed floor and still dry, and bringing it back over to her.

Adelene flinched upon sensing Lochlann's hand. She looked up at him, glared at him, before trying to get rid of his hand.

"Don't touch me. I... I can do it m-myself..." she said, before turning to his shirt and finally accepting it. "You're s-still delirious and... you've been hitting on me a w-while ago... If you try that again I'll... k-kick you, s-seriously...."

She straightened her legs a little and did her best to stand up on her own, so she could move away from Lochlann again. She stared at his shirt, before looking down on her own. And then she glared at Lochlann again, a way to tell him not to look, and when she thought it was finally okay, she managed to move her arms to grab her shirt and lift it up, before quickly wearing Loch's.

Just losing her wet shirt was such a huge comfort. The constant dropping of her temperature stopped, so the next thing to do was to raise it.

"Careful, I might like that," he said, trying to make one of his usual jokes, but it came out a little awkward, too much like he might have meant it. He turned away, facing the door, riding out the ebb and flow of the pain in his head.

He almost didn't want to turn around, because he was afraid of what she'd look like in his shirt. He had this image already in his head of her bare legs peaking out of the end of it and ughhhh. Lochlann buried his face in his hands again and made a low groan.

He needed to get it together. Maybe he needed Addy to hit him again.

He laid down on his back suddenly, his hands still on his face, keeping his eyes covered while he waited for her.

Adelene didn't really take everything off, though. She kept her shorts on, and then fixed her shirt, wet socks, and shoes on a corner. Lochlann's shirt was unsurprisingly too large for her, so she had to cross her arms over her torso again to lessen its looseness.

"I'm done changing..." she said, turning back to Lochlann only to find him on his back on the floor. She frowned, and went back to him to poke his arm. "Hey... Is your headache not gone... y-yet..?" She was still shivering, but with a dried shirt on, she felt much better.

She poked him numerous times. She was still cold, and she still wanted a hug, but she also just got back her sense of worry for Lochlann. She didn't know what to do next.

"I'm done changing..." "Hey... Is your headache not gone... y-yet..?"

He didn't drop his hands from his face until about the third poke, when her words finally sunk in. He looked up at her and gave her a tired, sad, smile.

She was just as cute as he though she'd be.

"No," he said. "But come down here. You're freezing. Let me warm you up, it will help."

He tried to think of the least awkward way to do this, a way where he could have maximum body contact to keep her warm, but not enough body contact to send him careening over the edge.

He thought about just having her come and spoon with him, but that seemed dangerous, so he sat up and leaned against the wall instead, motioning for her to come sit down in front him, so he could wrap his arms around her and keep her close to his chest. She'd have maximum access to punch him, too, if needed.

It was probably selfish of him for wanting this so badly.

Adelene was hesitant, but she didn't deny to herself that she wanted the hug. For warmth, mainly, and at the moment she... she just really wanted to hug him. They got a little too angsty just a moment ago, and right now she just hoped they could stay warm and silent and comfortable together. The last one didn't seem to be very likely for Lochlann though.

She watched him shift to the wall and figured what kind of position they'd be in if they hugged. Good idea, she can just hit him hard in the gut if something goes wrong. She nodded, and slowly went in front of him to sit down. She sighed, briefly looking at him in the eyes as if she was still trying to look for any answer to her confusions, and then she silently moved to nuzzle on his chest. "You're right... I'm freezing..." she muttered.

Ah, yes. Warmth. She sighed again at the comfort it brought.

She clung to his torso, but just for some safety measure, she summoned a pistol with her right hand. She wasn't going to shoot him. It wasn't loaded. But it was her best aid for melee attacks that won't damage too much. She touched Lochlann's side with its bottom momentarily, just so he'd know she was holding something.

"It's not like I don't trust you... But you're delirious."

She came towards him and gave him a searching look, one that made Lochlann avert his gaze to the floor in response. But, it didn't matter, because she was in his arms, and Lochlann felt that everything was right with the world.

"You're right... I'm freezing..."

"Hello freezing, i'm lochlann," he said, but the joke was lost in the way he buried his face in her hair. He liked the scent of her shampoo, the way she smelled like girl and gunpowder and weapon stuff and fun afternoons far, far away from his apartment. He wished he could take her to the beach. He'd lover to see her in a bikini, but picking shells with her would be a blast, too, and then there was the excuse of getting to see her bend over to pick up a shell and--

Something cold was pressed against his side and Lochlann went rigid. His entire body had tensed around her and he was very, very still.

"It's not like I don't trust you... But you're delirious."

He swallowed.

"That's...that's fair," he said. He didn't untense for a long time, not until another wave of pain started to recede, but he was now twice as careful around him.

Getting shot in the leg had made him especially gun shy.

Still, if that's what it took to keep her here? Lochlann would take it.

"How...how are you feeling?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper.

Adelene chuckled a few times. She sensed how Lochlann tensed up, so she decided to pat him gently on his upper back using her left hand, to calm him down and assure him he'll be fine. After all, she's never forgotten that slip of the tongue way back when. "Don't worry, it's not loaded. But I'll hit you with this if you decided to do anything funny."

She wasn't shivering that much anymore; at least, she could finally talk straight. She couldn't help but relax with all this warmth surrounding her, she'd even close her eyes as she rested her head on Lochlann's chest, just like back then on the roof of that certain bookstore.

"I feel better," she answered him just as quietly. The rain was still noisy outside but she spoke loud enough to be heard. "How about you? Still feeling like you might hurt me?"
