Emily wasn't sure how to feel either. Lochlann had managed to confuse her just as much as he himself was, if not more. He was in something of a position of power at the moment, if only because she was kind of going with it.

But since he hadn't asked her anything, she couldn't react to any of it other then the flowers. "I-I... don't know... what a-are nice flowers?..." She fidgeted around, unsure of herself suddenly. While she could often seem like she had everything together, she was still a girl, and she certainly recognized the romantic aspect of flowers. Her face flushed progressively more as she continued to dwell on the thought.

"..... A-All of them... C-Can be intense... It r-really depends on the situation... Yes, fear is a c-common one, so is... e-embarrassment... and excitement... L-Love and L-L-Lust... there are a lot that people can get heavy doses of p-pretty easily..." She was speaking more in general rather then her specifically.

"I'll surprise you, then," Lochlann said. "You seem like you need some flowers in your life anyway."

He chewed on the end of his pencil while he thought about what she said about strong emotions, and Lochlann nodded, though at love and lust he lifted an eyebrow. For a girl who seemed uncomfortable with flowers, the idea of her feeling intense love or lust surprised him. But, he couldn't judge, and he certainly didn't want to pry.

Well, that's not true. He wanted to pry. But he was too polite to.

"When did you find out? You could taste emotions, I mean?"

He had to stop thinking about the word taste because it made him think about kissing her, which made him think about drowning her.

".....A-Alright then... S-S-Surprises are n-nice... S-Sometimes... U-U-Usually..." Emily was just totally helpless against Lochlann's charisma. She didn't have enough experience to keep up with the boy across from her, so she couldn't do anything other then agree with him. It wasn't like she disliked flowers or anything... We're going as friends. just friends! She bit her lip in an attempt to settle herself down.

Her notebook bounced around on her knees as she fidgeted. Though typically she'd be professional with this project, Loch had blindsided her. It took her a moment of reading his expression before she realized the line he'd drawn, face flushing yet again. "Aah! I-I-I m-mean..! Th-That's n-not...! I d-d-don't...! I-I meant i-in g-general...! haaaaaaaah..." She let out a small while as she curled in on herself, trying to discover how to move the entire rest of her body in front of her face.

"... I... I don't know when i-it started... It just s-sort of happened one d-day and I figured out that I was tasting p-peoples feelings..."

Her discomfort was oddly charming.

It was probably the predator in him that felt this way. He felt the stirrings of hunger start to churn within him as he looked at her. She was cute, and the more she talked, the more Lochlann became interested.

He chewed on the back of his pencil and tried to wish that he wasn't wishing for a drink right now. He needed to tame these urges but he didn't want to.

"What did you feel when you first found out?" he asked. "Where you scared or excited or...? What was the first emotion you tasted?"

Emily settled down only to begin pressing herself back into her chair. She was suddenly feeling anxious about the aura she was tasting off of Loch. ".... L... Lochlann?... A-Are you... O-Okey?..." Em was very much the prey in this relationship, even without taking into account that Lochlann ate girls.

Emily just looked up at him, her chin lowered defensively, looking only that much more cute when she was on edge. Her eyes began to dart around again. "I... I don't remember... I was very young when I realized... I d-don't think there was anything s-special th-that I felt... I think it might have been happiness... Th-That I tasted..."

She asked if he was okay, and Lochlann blinked.

"Yeah, I'm fine," he said, pulling the pencil from his mouth. He didn't feel guilty, but he probably should have. He wondered if Emily would want to go get a drink with him.

"That's good," Lochlann said, "That it was happiness, I mean."

For some reason, he'd been expecting a horrible story, and Lochlann relaxed considerably. He hadn't even realized he'd been tensed until the weight seemed to disappear from his shoulders. He rocked back on his chair some more.

"Do you have any pets, Emily?"

Emily slowly settled back into her seat as the feeling faded away with Loch's most suspicious impulses. She didn't even really seem to have been fully aware that she'd been curling up so drastically until this moment. Her breathing slowed back down to a normal pace and she pressed a hand to her chest. Had she imagined that?

"... A... Alright th-then... S-S-Sorry....." She fiddled with her fingers again, trying to straighten out her thoughts. She probably shouldn't make Loch carry the conversation. "... S-So... Um... Do... Do you l-like um... H-Having so many... C-Companions?..." She flushed a little again, having really just picked the first thing that came to mind. She didn't regret the question, it was a pretty basic analysis type question, but it still felt awkward.

"No... I don't have any pets... I don't really dislike animals, but I've never had any... past those goldfish you get as a kid that die in a week..."

Her question caught him off guard, and Lochlann wasn't sure what she meant by it at first, so he simply nodded.

"I feel very lonely when I'm by myself," he said. "It's nice to have a lot of friends. I moved a lot before I came here, so I didn't get to have many."

It was a confession that surprised him, but it wasn't exactly a secret, so Lochlann shrugged. He couldn't remember putting it in words like that before.

"Oh!" he perked up then. "I love goldfish. They usually die so quickly because their tanks are too small. Goldfish are a kind of carp, so they need a lot of room and filtered water."

He realized he was about to go on a fish tangent so he simply laughed instead. "Do you eat fish? Or are you a vegetarian?"

Emily didn't think her intended question had gotten through. She wasn't entirely sure how she wanted to reapproach it, if she did at all. "..... I-I'm sorry... I got the i-impression that..... Th-That you b-bedded... A lot of them... W-Was I m-mistaken?" She glued her eyes to the table between them, her face not unlike a peach.

She listened intently to the fish rant, since it seemed like it was something important to Loch. "Is that so... I always just sort of assumed they had a short lifespan... Maybe I'll have to get some and the proper equipment... I guess... I'll have an office one day so..." She let herself get lost to daydreams of the future for a moment. "... Hm?.. Oh! No, I'm not a vegetarian... I don't have anything that I really have a problem with eating..."

Lochlann blinked at her, and the emotions that came off him now were both confusion and curiosity. He was not upset by her question, but he wasn't entirely sure what she hoped to gain from it. The fact that he was wondering if she hoped to gain anything at all just made him more interested.

"Oh," he said. He chewed on his bottom lip, then returned to chewing on the pencil.

Lochlann was not shy talking about sex, but it was hard for him to approach it from the subject of a class room assignment.

"It's something I'm good at," he shrugged. "I like being able to share that with another person."

He was not bragging. He said it and felt it objectively, like someone might say they were good at math or tennis.

"You want to have an office?" he asked, tilting his head. "So you have plans for the future, then? Owning your own...uhhh...psychology..thing?"
