Yesterday was aware of the stares he got among the throngs of people. It was warm; spring had come and the lilacs were blooming. People wandered about in shirts and shorts, a few carrying umbrellas to shield themselves from the midday sun. And him? His usual clothes; he only had one set, after all. A heavy white jacket that brushed his ankles, a bright yellow scarf, suit pants that looked too formal, white gloves and boots that nearly laced up to his knees. Yes, he wasn't dressed for this and people noticed.
Well... at least he had an umbrella, like a few others.
His sensors told him that there was a lot of pollen in the air, as well as certain chemicals emitting from the flowers. It was the scent that probably attracted so many people, and then the stalls and vendors and music just came with the wave. How interesting. He dutifully recorded that in his memory and walked among the flowering trees, keeping towards the fringes of people instead of diving right in.
Yesterday scanned the faces of festival-goers as they walked by; quite a few of them were happy, and so he should be happy, too. He quickly put on a cheerful expression to mimic those around him.
