"See? Not bad." Holding hands was, after all, a human bonding ritual. It implied a certain amount of trust when two humans held hands willingly. He liked Maylynn enough to hold his hand and that was a positive thing, right?

But Maylynn seemed to be at a complete and utter loss, barely knowing what to say or do beyond a stutter. He agreed with him that it wasn't too hard, but that didn't make him any less nervous. Now Yesterday needed to figure out what, exactly, was wrong. Was he angry that he did it without warning? Embarrassed that they were holding hands in public?

"Are you okay?" He had to ask, unable to get any further clues from his readings.

"I-I don't know." Was he okay? That was something that he was trying to answer himself, let alone try to explain. The sensation in his stomach wouldn't go away, as it wasn't hurting as much anymore; now it felt like butterflies in his stomach. It was unnerving to have such a feeling for someone he barely knew.

"I-I just feel unworthy I guess." Maylynn nodded as he looked over to his partner. "Y-You're being so nice and... All I can do is look stupid and stutter." He loosened his own grip on his hand, as his motivation for wanting to stay was running short. "I-I mean it's not like I'm your b-boyfriend or anything." His gaze was now downcasted as now he was feeling more awkward than loved.

While Maylynn was probably feeling enough butterflies in his stomach to burst, Yesterday... didn't. He didn't have the capacity to feel the giddiness and excitement of holding someone's hand; instead, he was dictated by a mathematical equation that told him yes, this was supposed to be a positive thing. This was a good interaction to have, because it made him closer.

The pressure on his hand lessened and hung loosely between his fingers, unlike before where there had actually been a grip. From his tone of voice and body language, he was feeling quite disheartened. But for what?

"No... But I like you." He wasn't a boyfriend, but that didn't mean he couldn't like him, right? "Isn't that a good thing for now?" Of course he was only speaking in the most basic of manners; he didn't know how to feel the complexity of human emotions. Sometimes the simplest answer was best, though.

Maylynn nodded as the words hit him again. Of course this boy wasn't going to want to be his boyfriend right off the bat. Yesterday was being nice enough to just hold his hand and make him feel comfortable. "I-I think it's enough, yes." Though he wasn't even sure if he wanted to be holding his hand, he tightened his grip up again, not wanting to let go even with his fears and doubts.

"I-I like you too, Yesterday." He glanced over and gave him a shy smile, as those words most likely meant something very different from what the man meant. "I-I'm happy we are, h-holding hands." The feeling of closeness was slowly coming back to him, as he no more had that ting of uncertainty that came with such an up in the air relationship between them. "I-I hope my hand is okay, and not too.... Sweaty."

Yes, that was enough. They had the festival to distract themselves with, too. His hand tightened once more with that reassurance, and Yesterday thought he had finally done something good. He almost breathed a sigh of relief if he was so inclined, but instead registered 'pep talks' under things that Maylynn liked and improved his mood. After all, he was sure to meet the boy again this time.

"Good!" He gave his hand a slight squeeze before looking out towards the festival. "Your hand?" A pause, trying to sense the moisture level between their palms. "...maybe a little. But it's okay. It doesn't matter."

For the time being, they should focus on exterior things, like the festival. Yesterday took Maylynn's hand and began to tug him along. He had a mental map open, and he figured out the shortest possible route through everything.

He was glad to hear that his hands were okay, as the thought of embarrassing himself even more wasn't something he wanted to think about. Maylynn was still bright red from the previous events and he didn't want to pass out. As he tugged his hand along, he was a bit reluctant to move, out of fear of tripping for messing up again. He gave the boy a half smile before he joined him, keeping their hands close together.

They had listened to music, Maylynn trying different foods and them looking at many unique shops. They gazed at flowers, sniffing them whenever they got to. Maylynn even bravely put a flower stem on top of Yesterday's ear, but the wind had blown it out after only a few seconds. It was a day that had been well spent, with someone that he liked as more than a friend.

It seemed as if hours had passed. It was around just before sunset. They were sitting on a bench, on the other side of the festival that they had just explored together. Still holding hands, Maylynn kicked his feet slowly as their shoulders touched ever so gently. His face was still plastered with its signature color, as today had been special for him. He was starting to feel something for this boy he was holding onto. "T-Thank you for today." He said as he gazed up at the lowering sun. "It meant a lot to not have to go alone." He was glad that he hadn't just lingered back to this room to be alone and study.

The day passed. They looked at little shops and stalls, Maylynn insisted he tried some food and drinks and he had to turn him down every time, they even played a game or two and listened to some music. He kept internal track of the time of day until the sun was going down and people were packing up their things. The festival had come and gone, and it was nice.

As the events closed up, Yesterday had started to lead them to the beachfront area, which was the last leg of their journey. Their legs dangled over the wooden boardwalk as the sun set above them, staining the sky bright streaks of orange and yellow.

It was nice. This was nice. Who knew companionship was so pleasant.

"Hm?" He turned a little to look over his shoulder at Maylynn. It wasn't too much trouble; they were the same height. "Oh yes, no worries. I liked it a lot, too." He gestured vaguely at the sun with his free hand. "This is also very pretty. Almost as pretty as you."

He wasn't pretty, was he? It wasn't like he was wearing some cute outfit, or that he had done anything amazing in the time that they had been together. So why was he blushing so heavily? "T-Thank you." He brought a small smile to his lips, as he slowly turned his head to the side. "Though I don't think that I am prettier than the sun." He shook his head.

Bravely, he moved a bit closer, as he slowly put his head on Yesterday's shoulder. He liked being close to him; it made him feel safe and loved. Maylynn lightly nuzzled close, as the wind was making him a bit cold. "D-Do you think we should leave?" He didn't want to let go of his hand, even though they had only let go when Maylynn had to use to bathroom or when he felt as if his hand was getting too sweaty.

Yesterday was staring right at the glowing orb as it sunk low over the water. The sun was big and bright and red, while his people programmed it into him that small and pale and blue were the most beautiful traits of all. Humans seemed to think the sun was inspiring though, and he couldn't help but agree a bit. Perhaps it didn't fit his frame of aesthetics, but it was very pretty in on itself.

"Well I think you're prettier than the sun." He insisted. As for leaving, he paused to check for the time before shrugging. "It's up to you. I don't need to rest." Which was true, if not a bit ominous. He didn't need to eat, or drink, or sleep... Hell, he could walk forever if he needed to. He didn't need to rest and recharge like humans did; solar cells and various power modes kept him going. If he needed to he could go into a 'sleep' mode that just made his systems idle until he powered back up.

He was not a orb of light and heat that kept everyone warm; but he was prettier than one in a way. The sun was very beautiful, yes, but you couldn't stare at it for long periods of time, or touch it, or actually have a real attraction towards it. That part he liked, the part that made the most sense to him. "I appreciate it." He uttered ever so gently towards Yesterday.

"You don't need to rest." The words didn't sound right; but then again, he was on a magical island, so the thought of people not needing sleep wasn't too unbelievable. Even though this knowledge was nice to know, it didn't change the fact that he was getting tired, and cold. "I mean um... The sun is going down and... I-I um." He looked away, obviously embarrassed. "I don't like the dark."
