Painting Music (Miya/Eve)

Miya sat there and wept in her arms. Why did that have to surface? Something to do with the dark pieces? She knew a lot about music and what could bring on emotions without someone realizing. It was one of the reasons she loved preforming and composing music. That memory alone harbored painful reactions and caused almost all of her fear of her powers.

Miya felt arms on her and almost panicked once more till she heard Eve's voice. Miya turned her head at looked at Eve, her green eyes red and watery. She wanted to do nothing more then hide her face from Eve. She ruined what they planned to do and felt ashamed for it.

Miya turned around in Eve's arms and buried her face in Eve's chest and continued to cry. She didn't know why it was effecting her so much right now. It normally only caused a small amount of pain, but this time it was different. Was the fire appearing from her subconscious why? That she had put them in danger with it? Miya couldn't even answer that herself.

"Stupid *mumble mumble*," Miya's voice muffled as her head was buried in Eve's chest, but it was clear to tell it was about the memory. Miya knew she had mentioned a bit about it to Eve when they met, but the whole story was a different matter entirely.

"No more dark pieces....."

"No dark places, Miya. Not here."

Eve wouldn't know entirely what was wrong, but she was relieved Miya didn't push her away. She was relieved Miya was in her arms. She then stroked the girl's head gently, her fingers caressing the smooth black strands of her hair. She whispered gentle hushing sounds and assured her, "It's okay." And that all the pain was in the past.

"It's alright, Miya. You're safe. We're all safe. Nobody's going to get hurt, alright? Hush now, okay?"

She was probably crossing the line here, but Eve did not hesitate pressing a kiss on Miya's forehead. And then she wiped her tears away, before holding her in her chest once more.

Her heartbeat was arrhythmic, mostly because she was worried about Miya and it broke her heart to see her in tears. She glanced at Deith, who didn't move from his spot and was just watching them, concern filling his eyes.

"Is she okay?" he mouthed quietly, to which Eve only sighed.

Her crying turned into sniffling after a few minutes. It wasn't normal for her to have a mental breakdown, but for some reason it started happening more lately. She had people she could actually talk to and wasn't put off by her scars or her powers. Maybe that's why she was able to let out her emotions more; just simply having someone there for her. She really had no one growing up after moving to Starlight, just people trying to help keep her powers under control.

Miya felt Eve's lips on her head and gripped a little tighter. It....Felt almost like a mother's embrace. It had been so long since Miya had felt something like this. Miya looked up at Eve and tried to smile, but failing horribly.

"I'm sorry.....Just....That burning figure was.....Was...The drunk I burned alive when my parents died. Not exactly easy for a 13 year old to get rid of that image...I didn't ruin your painting did I?"

Miya didn't want to let whatever happened ruin the painting that Eve had done. She felt horrible if anything had happened to cause something to happen to the painting. Miya turned her head and let it rest on Eve's chest, making a comforting noise mixed with her sniffling.

"I...Think I have...A story to tell. Maybe later....This feels nice..."

"Don't worry. The painting is turning out to be a beautiful one. I think it's time to call it a day?" Eve kept stroking Miya's hair. She was smiling in relief, now that she knew her hug was helping Miya calm down and feel better. The painting could wait. She was already done with the outlines and the base details. She might take around two more hours to complete it, but right now, Miya was more important than anything.

"Uh... Eve," Deith suddenly called. When Eve turned to him, he was scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. "You guys need an alone time. Shall I take this back to your studio?"

She nodded and smiled. "Thank you for the favor, Deith."

He nodded back and as he grabbed the canvas stand, careful to keep the canvas in place, the illusions around them also disappeared and they were back to the music room that was bright and not gloomy. Eve turned to Miya again, hugging her closer. "You can tell me the story once you're feeling better and up to it. Are you okay?"

The sniffling was all but gone. Miya just stayed in Eve's embrace, even after Deith had left. It just felt.....Nice. She couldn't put the right words to it. Most people grew up with parents, not just random people as guardians. Miya was unfortunate in that regard, something she shared with her new friend Addy.

When Miya finally opened her eyes again she saw the room was back to normal. The sunlight shone in and made things feel better. Thinking about it given her normal attire you'd think Miya enjoyed dark settings. While partly true, she had limits to it. Miya gave one more tiny squeeze before moving out of Eve's grip, wiping her eyes.

"S-No...Thanks. Will admit my fire doing that isn't exactly new. When certain emotions start forming in my mind they start to form like that. And with my mind starting to immerse into the dark themes of the pieces it started to form dark memories. Umm...Eve?"

Miya's face kind of blushed as she looked at the floor. She didn't know how to put it and it felt weird even thinking about it. Maybe it was just Eve being a good friend. Still, Miya felt a better connection with Eve after only spending time with her twice. Maybe it was the way they treated each other.

"Yeah... Kinda like a mother's embrace....," Miya almost jumped hearing her own voice. She hadn't meant to say that out loud and was thinking to herself most. Well...It wasn't entirely wrong.

"Well...Despite only recently meeting the way you came over and comforted me. Umm... Felt nice, like something a mother or big sister would do. Like I mentioned I've been alone since 13 for the most part. Sure I made some friends, but always felt jealous when I saw them with their parents or heard them talking with their families back home. Also doesn't help I'm an orphan even before my foster parents took me in. Gaining something like that then losing it...Never get over that."

"Hm?" The painter tilted her head hearing Miya mumble something about a mother's embrace. She was glad the girl thought that way about this, because that meant the hug really did work to comfort her. She laughed, just nodding it off, but Eve let go once Miya's recovered, not wanting to hog up all the space.

"You're a strong girl, Miya. I admire you. Now," she grinned, patting Miya's shoulder, "I assume you have free time? I bet you're starving. Let's grab some food, my treat!"
