Lochlann was exhausted.
He did not want to be back here. He did not want to ever step foot on this stupid island ever again.
But here he was, back on the Manta Carlos, back at Starlight Academy. He felt like he was in a dream, but Lochlann didn't sleep well since the phone call the night before. He'd gone home for the holidays, back to the states, and he was ready to stay there.
Until they called. The police.
He was wearing jeans and a jacket too thin for the weather because he'd packed in a hurry. He had bags like thumbprints under his eyes and his hair was a mess, but it didn't matter. He didn't intend to even come back to the academy, but he needed to pick up his stuff from Cabel.
If there was any consolation to this, it was that he could drop off his holiday presents now instead of trying to mail them.
It'd been months and Lochlann hesitated. He knocked on her door.
"Emily?" he said.
