He frowned, then a small nervous laugh before managing to bring a smile back to his face. He was annoyed at himself for allowing himself to ramble on about less pleasent things. "Certainly many worse places in the world, compared to a dance with a lovely lady." He attempted to distract from the slightly heavier mood with flattery. Exagerrated, but truthful, as far as he could compliment not knowing who was behind the mask.

It was only a shame it was a masquerade night. It was all well and good to have a night out on the town and have fun but less so if it was like it never happened in the morning.

Slipping a hand into his jacket as they danced, he pulled out the small silver flask again and took a sip of the scotch inside. "Want any?" He would say holding it up between there bodies before sliding it away if she refused or waiting to take it back if she accepted.

Swallowtail's dancing became a little more sloppy after Princess Smolder accepted their question. They were too excited to stay with the flow of the music. Even the butterflies on Swallowtail's body were so excited as to fly off and circle the dancing pair.

"Really? When do you wanna do it? What kind of monsters do you want to fight?"

Don’t roll your eyes, she had to remind herself after the compliment. Flattery never went far with her. To her, it was just a confirmation that the guy wanted more than he was getting currently. “And I’m sure the man behind that mask is lovely too,” she replied. The whole situation was a lot harder than she had imagined it to be. She was sure that the guy she was dancing with was probably a really nice person but there was still that issue that he may not be who he seems.

Looking at the small flask in his hand, she shrugged. “Sure, why not. It’s got to be better than whatever it is they are serving here,” she replied before taking it. Taking a rather large swig out of it, she handed it back and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. “So, got any exciting plans after this?”

He took the flask back from her hand, before sliding it into the back pocket of his suit trousers rather then into his jacket. Only to stumble a step of the dance at her question before he managed to recover it. "If you won't laugh." He said. "I'm going to try trick or treating." He told her.

"May father considered it begging and I never have. I feel like i'd be too old for it now but why not." It had only been around 3 or 4 since his family fallout but it was taking him some time to come of his shell a little. "Silly right?" He asked, knowing that the fact he had been drinking meant he was probably too old for it like he said but then again many people dod things general people would think was not right.

She raised an eyebrow, asking “Really?” Back when she was younger, she used to love dressing up and go trick or treating with her dad. It was great to get a load of candy to gorge on for the next few weeks but that had been something she had grown out of. She didn’t judge him for it, though. Not since he never had the novelty of joining in with the festivities.

A small half-smile grew on her face. “Well, I hope you enjoy it.” It would definitely look weird to have an adult knock on your door asking for sweets but then again, weirder things happened on the island. “Everyone should try something once, right?” She said in response. That was exactly what she was doing that evening. They were both doing something new.

"Exactly." he agreed. "If I end up not having fun, I'll probably end up going out for a drink instead after everything." He told her, it was likely he would no matter what, it would feel dull to spend the night of a party and everything going home to read or study like normal, and the dance was helping to loosen up a little.

"What about you?" He asked her. "If you ain't got anything your more then welcome to tag along and show me what I missed out on." He said with a small laugh, not really expecting her to agree, because they had only just met and didn't even really know who the other was. He was trying to somewhat overcome his lingering paranoia about what people on the islands could be. SO extending an offer even when he didn't know seemed like a fitting means of doing so.

She nodded. It seemed like something a lot of people did - an after party. Really, that was just an excuse to not stop partying. Why go to another party after the one you are already at? It seemed to make more sense to just have a longer party to her.

She thought about it, shrugging. “I was just going to go home after all this,” she admitted. The idea of getting to know the guy more seemed to grow on her the more the pair danced, which was strange. “But if you need a babysitter...” she replied, slightly mocking the childishness of him wanting to go trick or treating but this time, her tone wasn’t malicious. Usually, she would speak her mind bluntly when she didn’t understand a person but there was a playful way she went about it talking to her dance partner.

He chuckled when his dance partner implied being up to coming with him, under the guise of keeping him out of trouble. "Not a bad idea, who know what might be considered a trick out here on Manta Carlos." He replied with a smirk, he was sure that even his powers could get up to a lot of mischief and knew there must be those with some that could do even more.

"I would say that it beats sitting at home alone, but then again that would be hypocritical, I do it all the time to." He added, with another small laugh. "Truthfully though the company would be great." He said with simple honesty.

"Perhaps I will visit some other time," the veiled man said thoughtfully. "In any case, what else have you seen on the island? I am always interested in what experiences others have on the island - there's so much variety that two people rarely share the exact same ones."

What was she doing? There was no way the guy would like her if he knew the person she really was. Saying yes would only end badly and yet she found herself doing it anyway. “Don’t worry, you can hide behind me if you’re scared,” she joked with just a hint of a smirk - not too much emotion.

“Well, since I’ve got nothing better to do, why not?” She thought about maybe just leaving her guise on, not letting him know her identity. People were supposed to dress up for trick or treating anyway. It seemed like a really dorky thing to do at her age but maybe some fun could be had from it.
